I just finished watching the movie and to be honest I nearly cried. Many people, gay or not, can relate with the whole story specially with the "hiding your partner" part.
@lilah roy I never once even thought there would be a love triangle issue there because you could tell that Abby had zero interest in Riley and that their time together just looked like two gays hanging out as friends. But yes I can see, lots of ppl shipping them for the simple reason that thay like aubrey plaza more than Mac.

Look, my parents are homofobic and I understand this feeling. I didn't came out, they found out when I wasn't ready and that was really shitty. But I also dated a guy who (2 years after we broke up) told me he only likes guys. I was so in love with him and knowing he just used me... It really hurt too. So I get both characters. It's alright not to be ready to speak up but not wanting to be with a closeted person is also alright. What Happed did is horrible, okay? Abby agreed to hide, but that's not the problem. The problem is how Harper let her family be mean to her, how she changed her for her friends, how she carelessly spent so much time with Connor. That's the problem.

Harper made a lot of bad decisions, but I kind of understand where they come from, because it's really a lot to handle at the same time, I mean the hiding and the pretending and the trying to act like everything is ok, all that often leads to bad decisions. But also Abby and Harper never really talked about it until the end, that was the problem that created everything else, since sometimes you try to juggle things and don't really realize it's hurting others involved. Idk, I think that if they talked about it maybe Harper would've understood what she was doing before it got bad. I'm also not saying it was Abby's fault for not talking about it, dialogue only happens effectively when both people want it to happen and when you don't make that a habit in the relationship things might get real messy real fast, which was the case

I think Harper and Abby had a perfect relationship before celebrating Christmas with the family. And Harper didn't want to lose Abby.

What was up with the complete disrespect and disregard for the girlfriends feelings all the way through the trip home until the last 10 minutes of the movie? I understand her fear of coming out to those parents, but the rest of the behavior was all on her and coming out isn’t going to fix her total lack of respect for, and concern for, her girlfriend.
