- ...my old Gran and Grandad were both born in 1912 - he was a truck driver then a maintenance foreman on the railways , while she was a cotton weaver in the local mills ...and both were fervent Royalists ! Their wedding photo is featured here - and a photo of them at a local Silver Jubilee street party in 1977.
I'm a Royalist too - and have spent the last three days watching the news and the special tributes to the Queen on television , since finishing work on Friday. My Gran was 96 years old when she died too , in October 2008 - while my Mum looks like the Queen as she was aged 83 too ....and I'm almost exactly the same age as Prince Edward !
I've been shocked at the nasty comments online , posted since the sad news on Thursday ....some from 'celebrities' and 'comedians' - mainly from snidey middle class public schoolboy types ...but here is my humble little silent tribute , which also features a photograph I took of her on Blackpool Promenade , following her re-opening of the Opera House after renovations in 1987.....her security man was watching me as I snapped the picture , as I was a foot taller than the elderly people in front of me !
You could tell there was something wrong with the Queen when she cancelled engagements ect she was near the end.

....thanks for asking - I've just been very tired again , but I've finally got a doctor's appointment on the 17th and I went to hospital on Tuesday for an Ultrasound scan for my leg and foot pain ....'an inflamed achilles tendon'. Lots of bills too ....water - £131 and the YBR needed a new tyre and cushdrive rubbers and a few other bits - £146 , and insurance renewal for it too ! I'm just uploading last nights Blackpool Illuminations ride through though...and today I went to Rivington Barn bike meet...
Well done mate our queen did a fine job, a by no means easy job. All in all quite an act to follow good luck king Charles.
