Young ladies be careful. Particularly when you are relocating to college or for a career. I know young people yearn to make friends. But pray over the prospective friends you will make. I decree Psalms 91 over all of the young people out there. Abide in God's Safety... Rest under His Shadow... So many people are full of demons & setting traps for others by drugging them & taking advantage of them in a carnal way. Be mindful of your surroundings... I love you all...

Pornography or Lust has no end.
It's very ugly. One weapon I used when under attack with lust especially thoughts or arrows fired at me I bind the demon's up in Jesus name and throw them into the fires of hell.
Just surrender this sin and other sins to God ask Him to clean your heart out. Keep pressing toward God there is no other direction.
God hates us remaining in our sins.
Even though we fall from sin we don't remain in our sin. We get back up ask The Lord Jesus to purge this sin of pornography, confess it all to purify you and get back up. Fall , pray repent, get back up.

People never talked about Jacobs hate for his kids with leah. He didn't care for those kids as much as he loved Joseph and Benjamin. So when dinah was raped the only people who cared were her brothers, sad favouritism of kids is still going on right now.

    • @psychedelicpayroll5412

Yes. Jacob was not innocent for even his name supposedly means deceiver which is why God renamed him Israel. But I will tell you on his deathbed he had to have regretted the way he treated his kids because he poetically described each one of them in his dying breath while also practically cursing them. But Dinah was not there so that means she already died.

After Jacob's son's betrayal of Joseph, we see that, one by one, each one of the brothers as not being worthy of the birth right. This also included Dinah as Jacob could have given her to a worthy man in marriage and then adopted her son as his heir. But Shechem's actions ended this possibility. Only when Judah offered up his own life, to protect Joseph's Brother Benjamin, would Jacob find his true heir. But even then that road to maturity, for Judah, was not a pretty one, but one full of the grace of God.

There are theories though, that the issue wasn't as cut and dried as being presented. It's possibly believed that Dinah's visits to the city were a regular occurrence. And that she and Shechem were actually lovers. His proposal to her was sincere, as demonstrated by his willingness to endure the circumcision rites. Dinah's brothers objected to their sister marrying to a foreign man, even a prince (sure, it was *their* land, but the principle remained). They used her circumstance as an excuse and opportunity to weaken and pillage pezzirites. And Jacob's concern wasn't for his daughter, or the death of innocent people. But how the incident would make him look bad.
I bring this up, not to sully the story. But to remove pedestals and rose colored glasses. Removing the image of Dinah as an innocent maiden does nothing to lessen the impact of the story. Whether willing, or unwilling, the fornication was wrong. Plus it was with (presumably) a non-believer. Something forbidden by God. And though Simeon and Levi used the incident as an excuse to enact revenge, it was only that. An excuse.
Remember, Jacob's family wasn't exactly the Salt of the Earth. Jacob himself was a schemer. Rachel, his favorite wife, stole her father's idols. And hid them under her camels saddle as the family left to find their own place to live. And let's not forget what Dinah's brothers did to their little brother Joseph.
Pointing out these flaws doesn't lessen the story. It makes it more relatable. By making the characters more like you and me.

The problem is, you speculate motives of people removed by thousands of years from modern culture, which means the margin for error is astronomical. Dinah may have been involved with Shechem, but I very seriously doubt it. He had become infatuated with her and in my humble opinion, did rape her, and was also more than willing to marry the young girl. Satan knew the promise of Messiah was made to this exclusive line of humanity and probably thought if he violated the daughter [through someone under his influence], that he could destroy YHVH’s plans to redeem humanity. There is something far darker and more serious than simple teenage angst and romance here. Realizing the evil intention way beyond the scope of even something as foul as rape, Jacob and his some were righteously & rightfully incensed.

@@kiwiburciaga I will answer your question as a fellow christian with an equal; does the possiblity of Dinah being raped justify in your mind her brothers tricking Shechem and his people to perform the circumcision rites in order to murder all the men, capture the women as slaves, and plunder the city? Remember, Shechem was acting on good faith when he agreed to their terms. He was sincere in his wish to marry Dinah. It was her brothers who acted deceptively.
The point I am making with this is not to disparage Dinah. It is to warn against the folly of placing the situation on a high pedestal, or view through rose-colored glasses. You should not assume that because story is written in the Bible, it should be held up as an example of right action. This is a pitfall that many fall into. Instead, read your Bible fully, and prayerfully. And understand there are many stories that tell the *wrong* way of resolving a conflict.

I always thought the worst part of the story was that Dinah's brothers objectified her even more than Shechem. Whether she was raped or not, Shechem loved her, would care for her, and give her children. After losing her virginity, a woman of that time would've had no other prospects. Her brothers didn't care. They used her as an object to fulfill their violence and bloodlust. She likely died a lonely, childless old maid because of them.

I consider revenge justified. If you can eliminate a threat before they can harm again that's God's way of saying "revenge is mine" by using the tools God provided on earth. For example, in this case of rape, do you allow the rapist to go unpunished on earth where their actions unchecked will most likely result in repeat behaviour? Or, are we misinterpreted what God said about revenge? I think what God was saying is that revenge needs to be equal, not used as a "punitive" example.
If you kill my dog, do I kill yours back? No, that's not revenge because the other dog isn't guilty of the owners behavior. Revenge should be focused only on the perpetrator, not those guilty of association unless that association has conspired to be party to the crime.

Totally, but respectfully disagree. I think the story is telling us how vile the sin of rape / molestation actually is. I think it is telling us that as a society, whatever society we are in, it is our duty to deal with our evil doers, lest we be judged and punished along with them. I think Jacob's sons were justified in smiting not only Shechem for his sins. They were right in smiting his father for not punishing his son. They were right to smite the men who would condone such a thing. Dinah was given the only fair justice she could be given; the knowledge that her rapist could never touch her or anyone ever again. That is what sexual deviants deserve.

A matter of no thanks but you have to stay, would have prevented a war. It doesn't stop with just the guilty and never does, the innocent of many pays for it further down the road than we even realize. How would you like it if you got killed by a revenge case, knowing in those last moments you had nothing to do with it?

I agree with you but I also question her brother's reasons. I saw them doing this out of pride, not out of defending their sister. But maybe I'm just reluctant to turn a young woman's (who was probably still a child by today's standards) pain into some kind of fable to get a moral from. I can't even imagine what the rest of her life had been like. Her whole community knowing what was done to her, the horror she survived turned into a warning for other families' daughters, probably being gossiped about, people probably wondering if she had invited or wanted it, being rejected by other men because now she was ruined and defiled. Why do we need this woman's pain to know that rape is a disgusting, horrible thing to do to another person and should never be justified or excused? How would we feel if she was our sister? Or daughter? Would we want her used this way? We are just raping her memory.

that way we will also know that God forgives us too.. and we will receive the power to love

This testimony tells me why God told all of Israel on their way to Mt. Sinai Not too Intermarry with the Canaanites.
God tried to teach The Israelites during their Mass Exodus from Bondage in Egypt.
God introduces these three distinct Commands for The Newly Free People.
    1. They were to be a Peculiar Treasure amongst The Nation's: in Layman's term's They were to Be in The World; of Man but, Not Act in the way's of The World.
The Israel's destiny were to be quite Coast Guard to The Lost who no longer knew and worshiped The Living God The Ancient of Day's (Dan 7:10).
So that by The Time Christ arrived the whole world would of been in Heaven sooner as we know that didn't work out that Plan.
    2. They were to be A Holy People: "My Holy People" Thus saith The Lord; God repeats this Statement straight through too Exodus all the way to Deuteronomy.
It does harken back to the 1st Lesson for Israel to be A Peculiar Treasure amongst The Nation's.
    3. Do Not intermarry with the Canaanites; neither give your daughter's away to be their wives, nor your Son's to Their Daughter's.
Thanks to this video reminding of The Rape of Dinah, that was most likely one of the Reasons as to Why God said No, to such Union's between Canaan and Israel.
The other reason for this command given to Israel by God is because Believers as we all know are Not too Marry Un-believer's or Be Not Unequally Yoked as The Bible says.
Another thing how does anyone know God didn't sanction the execution?
All Israel's Son's did is show a foreshadowing of what was too come 440 year's later in The Book of Number's, Joshua, and Judge's.
People forget that God did instruct Israel to essentially drive The Inhabitants living in Canaan too Extinction.
Now If The People in Canaan renounced their Idolatry and turned instead to worshipping The Living God of Abraham then this would grant Them a reprieve from Judgement by God.
In other Word's They would Live.
The argument from the presenter in this Bible Video is that Hamor and his Son Scheceme were the only guilty party not the other people.
I believe in The Bible and what The Bible says but a lot in the Bible is Speculation.
Despite The time of Genesis & Jubilees Period that has come and gone, not a lot has changed with humanity regarding The Art of Looking Away (accept in George Floyd's case nobody could Look away).
I remember in addition to the Anti-Drug's campaign that aired on Radio OR T.V. there were these other ad campaigns that played out as well on T.V. about not looking the other way when a woman is being beaten by an intimate partner.
That Domestic Violence is every bodies problem a few voices declare not my problem by not getting involved.
The point is from how The Prince; the Son of The King Hamor behaved towards Dinah Raping Her he'd probably had done that sort of thing before.
Numerous Time's and numerous Time's The Hivites collectively tragically looked the other way.
Think of the case in 1964, New York City Kitty Genovese just going home not bothering any body after getting off from work get's stabbed by a crazed killer looking to kill someone that Night.
The story that caused and up roar is that people heard her cries for Help, "Help me He's Killing Me, Somebody please Help Me, he's killing me, and guess what Nobody did a thing to help her, and she was killed because nobody wanted to get involved Granted He did carry the Knife from Hell.
Still It's New York somebody would have had an gun to blow his knees out or frankly Kill Him. Nobody did a thing.
There's only so much that's shared about Dinah's Rape in The Bible; to me it was kind of like it was written as and After thought.
Sort of like Oh by the way this happened in Scheceme with The Hivites.
Deuteronomy chapter 22, addresses the crime of Rape God calls for the offender to be Executed so as too purge this Evil from The Nation meaning Israel.
It seems how some Judicial Systems view violent crimes Rape by Law is separated from Homicides; which is classified as Sex Crimes.
God doesn't ever separate Crime like Rape its an abomination because just because a person is left alive does not mean they haven't died.
So God views Rape as Murder which is Why in Deuteronomy chapter 22 He does say The Rapist is to be Executed (stoned to Death).
An Nothing was too happen to The Victim of the Crime.
Also unless someone has ever had the experience of Domestic Violence, Rape or the ever growing Crime against Children Incest, or Stalking should be cautious on a subject pertaining too Rape.
I mean God sending Israel 440 year's later too take on those same Hivites clearly God hadn't forgotten the crime against Dinah either

    There was a ' seed war ' going on ( Genesis 3: 15 )
Abraham made his eldest servant to swear to not take a wife of the Canaanites for his son Isaac.
Isaac charged Jacob not to take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
Canaanites were carriers of the ' seed of the serpent ' from Genesis 3: 15 and Genesis 6.
The line of Abraham was to be kept separate from the line of Canaan.
Sometimes it appeared that some men in the line of Abraham didn't quite get it, while the women did understand.
Isaac was ready to bless Esau with the birthright and put him in the lineage to the Messiah. Esau may have been a carrier of the ' seed of the serpent ' that came through the lineage of Shem and Shem's wife from before the flood.
Rebecca understood that could not be allowed and helped to cheat Esau out of the birthright. Jacob didn't seem to get it either as it was his mother that prompted him to go along with her plan to cheat Esau out of the blessing.
Judah who through Jacob became the lineage to the Messiah also didn't seem to get it and married a Canaanite wife who then produced three Canaanite sons. Judah picked the wrong wife for himself but then picked the right wife for his sons. The problem was his sons were already Canaanites and could not be of the lineage to the Messiah. It took Ta'mar to recognize the situation and bypass the Canaanite seed by causing herself to be coupled directly to Judah .
Dinah was not in the lineage to the Messiah but still a daughter of Israel and not supposed to be coupling to the Canaanite bloodline . Jacob was once again fine with it but it took his sons Sim'e-on and Le'vi whose brother of the same mother was of the lineage to Messiah to recognize and not let it happen.

And where in the world would you ever get what zodiac sign Canaan was?

The four sons of Ham (summer) are Leo, Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio. Canaan, the fourth son aka Scorpio is also used as Lud, a son of Shem/Sem aka Latin Pluto when the year is divided into seven months/summer and five months/winter. The five sons of Shem are Scorpio thru Pisces.

Something about this story really leapt off the page when I was a kid. If I can make a suggestion... I don't know if you guys use head phones when editing, but the volume levels on the music kept changing.

Deep story. But I have always been disturbed by the (overkill) violence in the old testament, for those people of the book after God's heart. And the moments in which they moved (in their words) by the command of God to execute his will. So much blood was shed.

Exactly. But that’s what also shows the beauty of Jesus. He took the time to see how death truly affects humans since we aren’t just scared of our own but of the ones around us as well. Even when hearing about the death of a stranger makes us sympathetic if they have family.
