    It's nice to see others helping endangered wolves number increase in the wild. I will be one of those people when I become an adult.

      Devin Carranza: I share your pleasure at this exciting development! Is there cooperation with Mexican wildlife scientists do you know? It’s another reason to oppose Trump’s idiotic wall the reintroduction programs in both countries will be benefitted if free flow of genes

      @@dr.martiwolfe7824 I'm not sure, however I do know that the border wall would hinder wildlife population movements of a wide variety of species found both in the U.S. and Mexico especially Jaguars.

      Reintroduction programs don’t work if Fish and Wildlife Services keeps killing them in response to rancher’s irrational fears. Honestly, these are terrible numbers, the program isn’t doing well. This is just a showy display of a poorly executed reintroduction program which has proven to be unsuccessful.

    About 6 weeks ago, another hiker and I saw a wolf run across our path. He/she was headed north east toward the mountains outside Chino Valley. It was an impressive (and a bit scary) sight.

    "Where there is no wolf, evil thrives" Old American Indian say. It's so sad that, after all the love shed on wolves in the Old Testament, NT translators caved into European superstition against the wolf. The word wrongly translated to wolf means wild dog. When a kid and out camping, if we heard a howl we kept the guns close. There were no wolves around, and it would be a stay dog. niio

    Maggie Dwire: was the source of your founder stock? The animals in the video are quite handsome, much furrier and larger than rangier desert subspecies. I’m so pleased to see your project proceeding well.

    Honestly I think we need to have a wildlife sanctuary in the southwest where no livestock are permitted. That would give the wolves and other species an undisturbed natural habitat and reduce issues with ranchers. The rest of the southwest can then be used for livestock.
    Also, there are more wolves out there than they are catching. They are only catching the ones that are collared. But the uncollared ones would be almost impossible to find.

    • @michaeleldridge5640
      @michaeleldridge5640 2 года назад

      Also, add them to national parks. They don't have livestock so that would be a more natural settings for the wolves.

    This will mean they will fight with coyotes over territory.

    • @cacatr4495
      @cacatr4495 5 лет назад +5

      No, they won't and don't. Coyotes don't fight; Coyotes run away. Coyotes are one of the Mexican Gray Wolves' prey. That's not fighting, that's dinner for the Wolves, and the Coyotes know it. Wolves are significantly bigger, heavier, bold, far more powerful, and smarter than Coyotes, while Coyotes are smaller, fearful animals that flee. An entire pack of Coyotes (about 15) fully encircling me and my 2 big dogs on leash (bigger than the Coyotes), at night, wanted to take my dogs, but didn't have the courage, thus didn't have the ability. The Coyotes didn't attack, there was no fight: they left on their own. Dogs on rural properties throughout Arizona, chase off Coyotes all the time. Coyotes don't have nearly the courage that domestic dogs do. The reason Coyotes' numbers are so large, is because their chief predator, the Wolf, has been out of the picture. Understand that there can be a weight difference of 50 lbs. or more. A male Coyote might reach 40-50 lbs., whereas a big male Wolf can be 100+ lbs. There's no contest between them. Coyotes and Wolves are not at all in the same category of Canine. (Mexican Gray Wolves are smaller than their northern counterparts, up in the northwestern states.) If you want to see more about Arizona, you might take a look at my Arizona playlist, a video tour of much of the state.

      azgunnut There are few better uses for money and resources than restoring, to the extent feasible, the diversity and vitality of our national species and ecosystems. They are what make our country unique and what keeps it habitable and healthy.
      Degraded lands are a huge strain on future generations, and species exctinction is the clearest sign of many humans’ ignorance and selfishness.
