UPDATE: FunPlex Myrtle Beach closed permanently at the end of the 2024 season. It's a shame, it was a nice park despite how insanely compact it was. Hopefully all the rides can be relocated, likely to the other two FunPlex properties. Myrtle Beach is now down to six operating coasters.
We included Myrtle Beach in our trip down to Carowinds back in 2021. We managed to ride all these coasters minus Kiddie Coaster (we're adults), Dragon (wasn't there), and Shark Party (also wasn't there). I really wanted to go down for Swamp Fox. My 6th grade English teacher was a coaster fan and would talk about the ride all the time many years ago. We're friends on Facebook, so he was so excited to see me finally get down there to ride it. We loved it in the front seat. It was so smooth. We couldn't ride the back row, however. The entire last train was blocked off due to "roughness" when we asked the ride ops. After our front row ride, there was no way it could be that rough, we thought. Well, the back row of the last train we could sit in was super rough. It was a tale of two coasters based on where we sat. It was so weird. I'd love to get back there and try it again.
I’ve heard horror stories of how rough Swamp Fox used to be. I’m pleased to report that after all the recent track work that’s been done to it, the back row was open during my visit and I didn’t find it too rough at all!
1. Swamp Fox 2. Twist 'n' Shout 3. Fun in the Sun 4. Dragon I didn't ride Shark Party and Myrtle Turtle because I thought they were too expensive.. I wasn't gonna spend 18 dollars to do two SBF-VISA figure 8 spinning coasters. Also I think Swamp Fox's retracking was last year, I definitely agree that it runs super smooth, has amazing airtime with those buzzbars, and the laterals on that final turn are great. I also love that it's a pretty obscure ACE landmark to ride. It's actually one of my favorite woodies.
By the way will you be doing anymore video game reviews? Anymore for Christmas and Halloween? Still love watching those too and love learning about the history from you about them 🙌🙌🙌
I really enjoyed "Hard Rock Park". It was really well themed with a fun atmosphere. The B&M "Led Zeppelin" coaster was solid & The Vekoma "Life in the Fast Lane" coaster was a fun family coaster. The other coasters were fun. I thought the park had a lot of potential.
It had massive potential but fell victim to a less-than-ideal location and poor timing with the economic recession. I have no doubts that had the park opened only a few years later, it would have lasted far longer and may even still be around today. You’re very fortunate to have gotten to visit!
@@RampagingRex The prices were pretty expensive too. I think a ticket was like $50. I do feel fortunate to have experienced the park. I did get a chance to get back to Myrtle a couple years ago and enjoyed "Swamp Fox". They had done a bit a of re-tracking and for the most part a solid ride.
My rankings 1-Swamp Fox 2-Twist N shout 3-Myrtle turtle 4-FITS 5-Dragon Swamp fox is fantastic the only problem for me was how bad the dispatchers were, the airtime is great and the last turn before the break run provides some great laterals and I loved seeing all the fresh wood when I was there last week, I didn’t really like the hamster wheels that much if I didn’t hang on it slams my balls into the thing at the end of the seat which kinda kills the vibes. Myrtle turtle was a pleasant surprise for me it was my first sbf figure 8 spinner and since I rode the spinning cars in fits my expectations were pretty low but it was actually a really fun ride
The dispatches on Swamp Fox were pretty bad when I went too, but I was willing to look past it because of how good the ride itself was (and dispatches can be different on every visit, so I didn’t take that into account for my ranking). I didn’t have any issues with the restraints on Fun in the Sun; I guess they were pretty bulky but that’s it. Before this Myrtle Beach trip, my only SBF Visa coaster was Whirlwind at Waldameer, so I had some idea of what to expect going into this. Now though, Myrtle Turtle is my favorite of the SBF figure eight spinners. There are a ton of them out there though, so you never know, that might change!
Dude I’ll be honest, hopefully you see this. You have to be one of the most talented YT I’ve seen. I wish you’d go back to the gaming side because if you did I can see good things for you. I mean look how many views on that GameCube accs vid 1 million. The ideas are there. So get that ass in gear. 👍👍

Can you please do a history video on Opryland?
