To everyone who was surprised at how witty, thoughtful and emotionally impactful this comic is, well, there’s a reason. She was written by Christopher Hastings, a man who never compromised between absurd, awesome and emotional. He goes all in for all three. He wrote Dr. McNinja, a free webcomic on the internet from the mid aughts to the mid teens and he’s just a general comic writer now. I hope that marvel hires him again because I guarantee any comic he writes will be as funny, as charming and as excellent as Gwenpool. Props to the artist too though. Gurihiru Beyruth did an amazing job of making her completely adorable.

I don’t have the comics, but I did get to know her story from this video, and I say that’s good enough for me. I literally just found out about this character maybe three hours ago because I “liked, liked” her outfit because everyone else liked her outfit, too. I took the time to listen to this video on her story and got really deep into it and her journey to becoming who she is. She wanted to be a hero, cross into a new, better, exciting, amazing world with all of her favorite characters and be someone that matters. The same way that some of us feel in our lives and wish that we can do. I know love her as a good character and a relatable one. I’m pretty grateful that I took the time to watch this video and learn what I could about her instead of just putting it aside for later. I actually have a OC who is half way similar to her in origins and story, but not totally and this was all before I even knew this character exist.
This was totally worth time it took by watching and rewinding it the whole thing. It makes me happy to know that I’m officially one of the fans who like her. This was good comic if this was the whole comic I just listened to him tell.

Comicstorian was one of those channels I would always binge-watch then return 6-12 months later. The first time I clicked on this video years ago I remember thinking it wasn’t going to be anything special, but Gwenpool turned out to be my favourite comic character. Every time I came back to Comicstorians channel this video would be the first one I would rewatch. Gwenpool taught me to cherish and make the best of the time I have left. RIP Ben, thank you for all of these amazing videos.

That ending actually made me cry, this comic made me love this character so much that I don't it want to end, a lot like her... and yet, the ending is perfect. So absolutely perfect. Damn.

GwenPool was incredibly fortunate to have Chris Hastings as the writer. If you haven't read his Dr. McNinja webcomic, it's a similar situation of peak early 2000s webhumor that evolves into this sprawling and weirdly cohesive lore with an incredibly likable cast. It's a shame that both Dr McNinja and Hastings' run on Gwenpool are wrapped, but we're so *so* lucky to have them as comic readers.

Right the problem with making it a live action would be pretty simple, you’d have to change from her realising she’s in a comic to her realising she’s in a movie, and you can’t grip onto the movie screen like you can of a comic box thingy. Marvel really made a paradox with this one because although this is probably one of the best established female characters they ever had, it would not work in a movie as good. Even in the spider verse style all of her powers would have to be adapted to being in a movie instead.

Honestly, that was amazing. As somebody who's semi-obsessed with back-level obscure comic characters, I completely loved this.
Gwenpool is now my absolute favorite comics book character now due to her childish yet relatable nature, really does take me back to watching superheroes on the big screen and thinking about how amazing it would be to live in a world so different from reality, thank you for the video I never would’ve thought that gwenpool would have so much depth to her character, thank you

This super power is actually very similar to the main villain of Re:Creators. I can see how Gwenpool could be spun as to being the most overpowered being ever. Just draw her into situations where she could easily pocket some of the most powerful items ever. Like say Infinity stones for example.

It's a very "manga-inspired" art style. I personally think this style takes some of the best of both worlds.

Oh my gosh, that ending is so touching! And it's like the older-looking Gwen said, the comic might end, but she will always live on with the fans. We are literally able to keep her going even though her original run is over. We get to do anything with her, and it's still canon. She has straight up given herself total immortality by making *our works* part of the canon. Everything we make using her is legit and there's nobody that can tell us otherwise. We could put in her any of the Lantern Corps, and it's canon. We can merge her with any hero or villain in all of Marvel, and it's canon. Put her in any game, make animated series with her in them, make our own comics, make plain ol' art, whatever! *It's. All. Canon.* And that just gives me one of the greatest feelings I've had in a very long time. ^w^

It would be nuttily self-referential, with her walking into the editing room, harassing the director on set, maybe accidentally killing a cameraman or mic operator, walking in on herself in the middle of a scene to gripe at the actress playing herself, etc.

Harley Quinn is older and has many different incarnations, like her old boyfriend the Joker, only she showed up in the 1990's. Joker and Harley are basically the original Deadpool / Evil Gwenpoole. Nothing matters, everything is meaningless, just have fun, keep the audience entertained, kill people randomly, and try to make a name for yourself. The joke is the most important part of life. If it's funny, do it. At least that's the brand of mischief the pair used to get up to, especially in comics like Joker Mask and Emperor Joker. The main difference, though, is Joker and Harley never went full meta; they just nodded at the panel and acknowledged they were in a comic. They could have gone full meta, though, especially Harley, who is genuinely psychotic, and it would have been cool...
Sometimes I wonder if DC knows how to do humor, though.

Her original origin is a mystery, because even by the time she found out what sent her into the Marvel Multiverse, her brother said it'd already been retconned. All we know for sure, is she was a depressed teen, that couldn't see any future for herself, and was basically a nobody. Then she literally used "Escapism" to escape.

Basically, how the fourth wall break works is she can travel to the past and future panels of the comic, along with bringing older versions of other characters through slashes, and can peer up through fourth walls into the blank space, which is the area between well, comics and reality. Edit: this is limited by what panels exist, and she can also manipulate the words that comics use to project sound
GwenPool is probably my favorite Marvel character due to the fact that her story is so funny, yet emotional and wholesome, and i really look forward to more of her story, but like you said yourself, it's not the same unless it's this GwenPool, the one we all know and love

I think one of the reasons Gwenpool is so different from Deadpool is that she doesn't talk to the readers, but she interacts with everything. So she can rip through pages and mess with thought bubbles, exedra. Also, her reacklessness is not because of a healing factor, but because of how she knows comics work. I also really enjoyed the idea of her needing to come to terms with seeing the heros as people and not just comic characters.
