Fortuitously, I met Erland while sitting next to him on a plane from Madrid to JFK right before this concert! Have enjoyed King of Convenience’s delightful music ever since.

Watching them live was a dream come true - especially since their music has been a regular staple on our online radio broadcast ever since launched almost two decades ago. Hey David...First, SUPER envious that you got to meet them after the gig. I loved their arrangements of "Rocky Trail" and "Rule my world". So glad you liked the video. Thanks so much for the comment! So glad you enjoyed the highlights reel. Obviously, we only wanted to capture selected moments from the show and did not want a camera distracting us from the sonic bliss of these two geniuses. Were you at this concert or at any of the concerts of this tour? If not, we have a review of this concert in the description of this video. KoC is undoubtedly one of a kind. It is still crazy to think that their brand of musical rebellion is rooted in minimalism - what a concept for those years!

@@SoberHusky What a great venue for a Kings Of Convenience concert. We are incredibly envious. This was a first for us. We've been featuring their music on our 24/7 global online radio broadcast (link in our profile page) for over a decade and a half so it was so great to make this long overdue dream come true. Their performances of "I'd rather dance with you" and "Rule my world" in particular were fantastic. They also compensated for the lack of a cello on "Rocky trail" incredibly well.

LOVELY!! Addictive, spoils me for other music, nothing is as connected, as full of "hooks". Great songs and sounds. Live a loooonnng life and keep playing.

@@radiocremebrulee4431 So many great ones to choose from. I love that they played some of my favourites from Riot like Homesick, Misread, and Cayman Islands, but I was most pleasantly surprised with Boat Behind and Rule My World with the band. It was worth the trip down from Canada!
@@neilmccormick4291 Great to know that the trip down from Canada was worthwhile. The two guys to my immediate left at the concert were from Toronto. So it looks like there was some hint of a Canadian contingent at this show. Cannot help but wish that "Love is no big truth" from Riot made the setlist. "Rule my world" was beyond brilliant. Really hoping they release an uptempo mix of it. It's the poptastic jam that could be. "Boat Behind" is one of the few tracks from Declaration that I struggle to get into. We never ended up featuring this one on our 24/7 global radio broadcast (not too sure if you figured this out but we're an online radio station) despite giving a lot of love to the rest of the songs from that album (including the ones not released as official singles).

You are most welcome. Obviously, we only captured the highlights because we wanted to enjoy the show as opposed to worrying about filming it. That being said, we did want to at least capture the highlights of the show for this reel. It also helped as fodder for our concert review (which we've included in the description of this video). "My Ship Isn't Pretty" is a pretty unconventional opener - but then again, is there anything like conventional for Kings Of Convenience? Their entire musical aesthetic is a deviation from convention as it applies to pop music.

Cayman Islands intro ....wow. Would have loved to hear more.
It really was beautiful. We wanted to make sure we had time to actually enjoy the concert so we only recorded selected segments of the performances to make the video highlights reel. Interestingly enough, their performance of Cayman Islands was the one that was closest to the studio version of the song. For the rest, they deviated a little making it quite interesting.

Hey Cesar! So they did use a tiny hand-held keyboard for "Fever". Eirik ended up playing a keyboard version of the hypnotic guitar solo towards the end of the song. That's the last clip in this highlights reel. That being said, besides that one section of the song, there was no use of a keyboard. For us personally, the instruments we missed were the violin and the cello although the guy compensated for the lack of that very well especially on "Rocky Trail". And yes, the concert was fantastic and there is a link to a review of it in the description for this video. Thanks for the comment!

Poor sound
Hey David..this is the best we could capture from where we were standing. It was a trade-off between proximity to the stage versus sound. The best sound was at the back in the upper balcony.
It's good considering how it's recorded. It's not from the soundboard, what do you even expect?
@@samsabruskongen Thank you. It really is a trade-off between speed to uploading versus taking days at a stretch to clean out the sound. We find that most people want to view these right after the concerts happen - plus they want to read the concert review (which is in the description of this video). Echoing your view that if this was plugged directly int the soundboard, that would be the dream sound.
