    King of California is at the top of my want list, haven't seen it in years.
    Some recommendations:
    -The Guard (2011) starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle, about an Irish policeman that gets paired with an FBI agent on an investigation
    -How To Talk To Girls At Parties (2017) starring Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman, about an alien that wanders around London
    -Immortal (2004) a French film that mixes live action and CG about an Egyptian god that is condemned to die on Earth and must find a mate

      Nice. I think you'll enjoy King Of California. I've written down the titles you've suggested and I'll definitely be looking into each one

    I gotta say I'm surprised you have the second Ghost Rider movie but steered clear of Grumpier Old Men to complete that pairing. I also never expected this to turn into a Pickle in Prison film. She was great in her role, though. Totally owned it. I'm really enjoying seeing your incredible collection. Thanks for sharing.

    • @MovieChatter01
      @MovieChatter01  9 месяцев назад

      🤣🤣🤣 I actually do have Grumpier Old Men but it's in a double pack with something else. And with my amazing organization skills, I can't even tell you where that will be. 🤯🤯
      You know the Ghost Rider movies are getting the big purge once I have everything in the room finished and on shelves.
      Pickle In Prison deserves sequel, I think. 😂😂 The poor thing is never in her container unless it's bed time so she was very confused. Definitely committed to the performance as you pointed out.
      Thanks so much for watching these crazy collection videos. I really do appreciate it. 😀👋👋🍿

    Love Freedom Writers. 40 Year Old Virgin never gets old. Salma Hayek was amazing as Frida. The Glass Castle was interesting. Need to give it another watch. I've always passed by on It's Complicated. May just need to check it out. King of California is amazing! Highly underrated. Great collection!

      Hey Miranda. Oh, It's Complicated is really funny. It was much better than I expected because it's not my favorite genre but I love Meryl Streep so I took the plunge. So worth it. I agree with you on King Of California, super underrated and deserves so much more attention.
      Thanks so much for checking out the video. 😀👋👋🍿

    I really dig your content. I love that you give honest thoughts on most of your collection. Most channels just blow by their collection without saying a word. I wrote down 20+ movies from this video series. Thank you!

      Oh thanks so much. Sometimes I worry that I'm taking too much time when I stop to give bullet points about the movies but I feel like it makes the video a little more helpful for people. I never really understood just blowing through titles with no thoughts on anything.
      I'm happy you found the video helpful and are checking out some movies for yourself.
      Thanks so much for watching and the very helpful feedback. I really do appreciate it 🍿👋👋😄

      Thanks so much, friend. Glad you're enjoying the Blu-ray shelf series. It's one that has been requested many times but I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested since most of the titles are very common ones. Seems it's just good for seeing anything folks have missed grabbing or watching along the way. Also, right now the prices on many standard releases is really great for filling gaps in collections.
      Thanks so much for watching. I really do appreciate it. 😀👋🍿

    Thanks for doing another storage shelf. I grabbed my pad of paper and took notes. We have a lot of the same titles in our collections, but you still manage to show me new and interesting movies I have never heard of. I wish some of these weren't OOP. I have Fish called Wanda on DVD, and would love to upgrade, but a little too pricey. Same with The Fall. I have lots of homework to do, but I don't mind when it involves researching movies. Thank you again! Looking forward to more. Hope you had a good walk with Pickle and your puppies!

      @MovieChatter01  9 месяцев назад

      Hey friend. I'm so happy to hear you're enjoying the Blu-ray shelf series. I wasn't sure if this would be helpful just because it's a section of my collection that has a lot of common titles. But many people messaged me requesting it so I figured, why not. I think it's helpful because many of these can be found for really great prices, as long as they're not OOP. Some of the boutique titles tend to get pricey so that doesn't work for all budgets.
      I really wish they'd bring The Fall out of retirement. It's one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen.
      Pickle had a great time once we got back upstairs and into the yard. 🐶
      Thanks so much for watching and I hope you are able to find everything you want. 😀👋🍿

      Oh nice. Yeah, it's an important one especially for folks dealing with any kind of aging parents/grandparents. It was so well done using the POV of the patient. Olivia Coleman is amazing, as always, playing his daughter. I hope you like it.

      You bet, friend. I had a bunch of requests for just the standard Blu-ray stuff so it's fun to go though this section of the collection. These are good to grab because if they're available, usually at a good price.
      Pickle hates her little house but it's better than taking a chance on her getting into something that could hurt her. She's happy to be sprung today and roaming free. 😂😂😂
      Thanks so much for watching and I hope you enjoy whatever you pick up. 🍿🍿😀

    Hey Steph, I'll have to watch this again as you mentioned some titles I need to jot down to add to my to-watch list. I watched The Lobster after seeing it here and really enjoyed it. If you've not seen the film, Crossroads, The Education of Little Tree, Silkwood, check them out. Awesome and thanks.

    • @MovieChatter01
      @MovieChatter01  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hey friend. I'm happy you're finding some titles to investigate. The Lobster was definitely one that surprised me. I'm always cautious with A24 titles that seem too experimental because they either really hit or really miss. I think this one hit.
      I have Silkwood in my Kino Lorber collection section but I'll need to check out the other two you mentioned. They're on my list.
      Thanks so much for checking out the video and for the movie recommendations. I really appreciate it. 😀👋🍿

    Some great movies here Stephanie! I have now ordered The Fall on your recommendation - managed to find it for £4.25, very happy with that! Remains of the Day is one of my personal faves, love many of Anthony Hopkins films. Have you seen Magic (dir Richard Attenborough) - think you would like it

      Hi Sophie. Ooooo. I'm so happy you were able to find, The Fall. It's so way out of print here so that's great. It's such a gorgeous and touching movie. One of my favorites of all time.
      Anthony Hopkins is so great in everything. I'm a big fan. 😀
      Magic?? The horror movie? I've seen that one unless you mean something else.

    Great picks Stephanie - I always feel guilty for enjoying a Kevin Spacey movie these days too, but he was in loads of my favourites - Se7en and American Beauty for instance, can’t stop loving those movies because of what happened. lol you managed to get 2 films with the stars are accused of the same thing next to each other - Father of Invention with Spacey and Forgetting Sarah Marshall; Russell Brand is facing accusations of historical offences over here at the moment and has been wiped from streaming.

    • @MovieChatter01

      Oh I know. I can't even keep up with who has done what and when or if they've been cleared, etc. I'm currently disgusted by Armie Hammer and I watched a really disturbing documentary about his family. Seems the whole bunch is just plain nuts. It's called House Of Hammer and it's on Max. 🤯🤯🤯
      I've always liked Kevin Spacey as an actor sang you're right, he's been in some great movies. I guess I think about the other folks who worked hard on the movies when I decide what to support/watch and what to avoid. Case by case if that makes sense.
      Thanks so much for watching the video. 😀👋🍿

      @MovieChatter01 - also you should check out the tv series Slow Horses -- starring Gary Oldman - and is quite comical involving a group of failed spies who end all end up in Slough House under the dubious hilarious leadership of Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman). Also stars Keeley Hawes as a scheming head of MI5.
      I am into series 2 which so far is proving even better than season 1.

    The Assassination of Jesse James is greatly underestimated imo, you just don't hear it discussed much. I thought it was Pitt's finest performance, and Casey Afflect and Sam Rockwell likewise deliver. The blu-ray is average at best technically, but with all the fantastic cinematography by the great Roger Deakins, it deserves a badly needed upgrade to 4k.

      I get that. If it helps, it's got a big connection to the events of 9/11 in NYC and PTSD. So depending on your experience, if any, with that will depend on how it hits. I think it was horribly mismarketed as a horror movie although it does focus on the horrors we carry within ourselves. Unresolved trauma. But I think a lot of that is lost on people if you can't hear all the conversations, which is why I suggest using the subtitles. But it's definitely for a niche type watcher, if that makes any sense.

    King of Comedy - this film came so far out of leftfield - I am suprised so many people love it.
    If you think De Nero is outrageous it does'nt even begin as far as Sandra Bernhardt is concerned - her performance is incredible - especially when she strips and expects Jerry Leiws to sleep with her. Total brilliance!

      🤣🤣🤣🤣 You're so right. This film really did come out of left field but it was so uncomfortably awesome. I love Sandra Bernhard and she's so underrated as an actor. Everything she's ever done has been on point.
      I was reading an article about how this film inspired the scene in The Joker when he goes on the talk show. I can definitely see the tie in there and it made me want to go back and watch King Of Comedy all over again.
