I'm not a mom yet, but I'm so appreciative that you're not sugar coating how hard it is to breastfeed. You're doing the most amazing thing by the way you are handling how tough it is! Im proud of you and i love you!!

Wow really wish I had this to watch when I was starting my breastfeeding with my son. I gave up after 3 weeks as it was so so hard and I had no support at all. I hope other women can watch this and know how amazing they are. Well done and thank you xx

I can relate to this so much, I recently gave birth too, on day 2 baby was wanting to feed constantly (I think it’s called cluster feeding) and I just sat in bed feeding him crying my eyes out, my nipples were so so sore and I was exhausted, I felt so guilty crying because he’s an absolute miracle and I adore him! He actually continued to cluster feed for a few weeks, I really wanted to give up breastfeedin but the midwives made me feel guilty for wanting to change to formula. I stuck at it for 5 weeks, then due to my own health issues I was prescribed medication that I couldn’t breastfeed on, so I was kind of forced to change to formula, and for me personally formula has been so much more enjoyable. I think it’s such a personal choice, breastfeeding and formula fed are both great. Don’t let midwives and health visitors pressure you, just do what works best for you and baby ❤️😘xxx

This is such a honest reality of breastfeeding. I’m 7 months into my breastfeeding journey and can feel every emotion in this especially In the first days etc, I’ve got very fast letdown and didn’t realise that was a thing but it definitely does get easier! So difficult when you don’t always get all the support.❤️

This video helped me so much I don’t think you’ll ever know! My baby girl is 9 months old and my breastfeeding journey at the beginning was AWFUL. So so bad , the pain was unbelievable. No problems with latch or tongue tie etc. but just nipple pain and at one point mastitis! I just struggled so much but wanted to breastfeed so badly I was so determined to continue. When no one understood and everyone told me to give up I found your video. Your experience gave me the courage to keep going , I didn’t feel so alone through it and my God I am so grateful. She was exclusively BF for 5 months and then we started to wean. She is 9 months now and we continue alongside lots and lots of food lol thank you from the bottom of my heart after 6 weeks the pain went away and it was the most beautiful and easy thing in the world. Great things happen when mothers support mothers.

I didn’t chose to breastfeed but I remember with my first born I was gushing milk like so so much my tops were drenched every half and hour for 6 whole weeks, I couldn’t even leave the house! and I don’t know how true it is but I remember my midwife saying it’s because I was just so so emotional and inlove with my son my body just had huge instinct to produce so much milk for him (again don’t know how true that is) I’ve watched you for years and seen how much love you have to give❤️ you should be so so proud of yourself and all the hard work and determination you have put into this I can’t imagine how hard this journey has been for you. Your an amazing mum xxx

Oh my goodness! Don’t ever ever question how strong you are! I don’t have children and don’t plan to for many years but this was such an insight into a realistic journey and part of motherhood! You are an amazing mother and person! ! Thankyou for sharing your vulnerable experience as breastfeeding isn’t spoken about enough! I am a woman and I may one day go through this process and it’s never taught in schools or anything so Thankyou firstly for that! You are feeding your child and giving her love and that’s all she needs! Any stresses or struggles or worries won’t matter in a few months and you will be onto the next thing so just pat your self on the back because you are doing unbelievable! Love you so much 🤍🤍🤍

  • @LizAkyxll
    @LizAkyxll 2 года назад +6

She’s putting on weight babe because your foremilk still has calories, that’s why weight may not be an issue but the gassiness will be. I suggest you just feed her a little more upright, don’t pump, feed on one boob only at a time and don’t think too much about your letdown. I had the same too fast letdown issue, but as long as baby is tilted more upright and you try your best to burp her more often and midway during feed - hopefully her pain will ease. Colic however may last 3-4 months also it’s very common for babies to be gassy! So it’s not your fault! Bf is hard, because I remember having to wake up every hour sometimes… God it’s draining. But remember, it’s not going to last forever - you’re doing amazingly!
Also, have you heard of the haakaa or breastmilk collecting insert? Use them to collect the other sides milk and freeze it for times you are outside or emergency. BM is GOLD! Lots of love to you and I hope everything works out! 💓

Sadly bottle didn't make it any easier and I'm so gutted my breastfeeding journey is over. Her reflux is shocking at nearly 3 months and moving onto gaviscon now. You are doing amazing! You are a strong lady, our children make us stronger than we ever felt possible. My little boy would not latch on at all as a baby and became deprived of nutrients and went jaundice. I was desperate to just give him a bottle but felt too much pressure to breastfeed. It was all too much for my baby and me. Eventually my midwife said to give him a bottle. He took it straightaway and I felt such relief. He is 8 now and healthy and happy. Everyone's journey is different, and never be afraid of going on alternative paths on the journey xxx you are the best Mummy to your baby

Imogen, my daughter is 11 and when she hurts or gets hurt, I cry my eyes out. I cant help it. Ive been that way since shes been born. I feel so bad when shes hurting, it kills me so of course I cant keep it together. I honestly dont think that will ever change lol My husband tells me I need to relax and not show her im upset because it makes it worse but I cant help myself. Like you said, seeing the love of your life be in pain or hurting, hurts you. Being a Mother is the hardest, most rewarding job we could ever have. You are doing an amazing job Imogen. Spencer too. Also, I should of said this first but have you ever thought of taking her to a chiropracter? They can do wonders for your child with whatever the issue is. My daughter was constipated and hated being on her back. The chiro did something ( never hurt her) she slept the whole time and within 5 minutes my daughter had a blow out lol that night she slept on her back the whole night. Just a thought. ❤️

Well done Imogen. I’m due my third in 4 weeks and hoping to exclusively breastfed.
My twins I only fed for 6 weeks.
They both had colic badly and silent tlreflux and one of them had a milk allergy, he would have a bottle mouthing it for like 2 hours as he was in discomfort, but until he has milk free formula he was such a fussy baby as so uncomfortable, even now I feel bad about it, but I just couldn’t feed 2 of them anymore after 6 weeks, it was too hard.
I had to sleep them on their fronts as they wouldn’t sleep on their backs, also they would bring up a whole feed regularly (premature babies can have reflux more commonly as they have feeding tubes when born so their throats cant close fully whilst they are in) also burping a few times during feeds helped as then there wasn’t milk on top of air as when they’d bring it up the milk would come too.
Also after a feed I’d keep them sat up for 20 mins afterwards, as I had two I couldn’t hold them both all the time so had to use rockers that sat upright a lot. Infacol didn’t work for me and made them worse( It can with some babies ) I tried a special tea, gripe water, everything. Also I used dalivit drops for my two.
Just do your best. Reflux can be hard, some babies have to be upright most of the time etc, my mums a health visitor so was so helpful with my boys.
I hope things are getting better with feeding.
This video was very brave and honest. Your doing amazing! As mums we always feel quilty about something so don’t worry there. My two are 6 and I get it often. Keep doing what your doing as your doing great!
Just a quick one, have you tried baby massage? Some techniques can help with discomfort for babies belly’s

My biggest advice is don’t feel guilty for weaning when you are ready. Of course try your best but weaning at 6 months or a year doesn’t make you a bad mum. I am breastfeeding still at 2.5 years (finally once at night only) and it honestly made me so exhausted and ill to the point i was nearly fainting whilst she was awake i fell back onto the sofa luckily with her in my arms! It is a big regret of mine not stopping at 1year. Look after mummy so baby is happy. You’re doing amazing ❤️

I didn’t breastfeed however this sounds like what I had, for 4 weeks! The pain was unbearable my milk was gushing out (I wasn’t even breastfeeding) my boobs was like rocks and I’ve had a lot of complications since I ended up getting infections and now I’ve had lump all over my boobs and my son is nearly 1 I’ve had to have scans and these lumps are all due to the milk its crazy because I thought it only happened to people who breast fed but I used to wake up 2,3,4 in the morning crying in so much pain they felt like they was on fire & it was horrendous pain!!

We visited a craniosacral osteopath too and had so many tests and I do think it was my fast let down that caused half the problems! We did 6 months EBF and combi fed until 9 months! Looking back it seems a world away, but at the time it consumes you ❤️❤️ your doing so well! Motherhood is hard, it’s the emotions and everything that comes with it xxx

Hi you are doing amazing! My baby is 10 months and we had a journey just like you. I am still breastfeeding now you will get through it. They said he had colic and reflux and even prescribed the gaviscon just like you. It eventually all settled down on its own without anything. I could never feed him in any other position only sitting up which didn't help so you are doing great. I used to use the haacka to collect the milk and express a little when I was uncomfortable. If you express even 50mlz it really helps you be more comfortable instead of pumping all the milk out when the baby is sleeping. Just some advice I never gave my baby a bottle at all until he was 5 months and started getting teeth. I tried to give him the bottle and he flat out refused. I tried for over a month and he wouldn't take it. I would give her a bottle of expressed milk before she's 2 months old just to get her used to taking the bottle. Only if you want to give her bottles in the future! My boy is 10 months and still won't take a bottle I've given up on that one now 😂 your doing great! Well done for getting this far its a hard journey but a rewarding special one!

I could only breast feed mine for 6 weeks all 4 were greedy munchkins and I just couldnt produce enough milk so I did bottle and breast fortunately with no issues. All babies are different I remember my 2nd use to clamp down and Id shoot through the roof, the whole feeding process made my breasts sore and chapped and I couldnt take the pain any longer hence I said to my then husband go get me botles, a sterlisier etc, I dont know if he got advice but he came back with all the right stuff lol. My first baby had really awful colic and silent reflux. She was in so much pain right up until I decided to put her on solids early.I kid you not 3 weeks on sold foods at 4 months old she was like a different baby! Her pain just disappeared. I know every baby is different but wow what a change in her by putting her on puréed foods. My second baby who is 5 months now has reflux and we have her on infant gaviscon but we only give her the gaviscon with her night time bottles and it really does help. She has started teething now though and is in a lot of pain with her little gums. poor babies grow so quickly that their little bodies go through so much xx

I have breastfed 2 kids. It has been the most challenging but rewarding thing i ever did. It was so tough the first few wks with learning the latch, bleeding nipples, engorgment, mastitis, clogged ducts, milk blisters but we got thr. I learned i cant pump without getting clogged ducts and with both children it was tough for the first 3 weeks then we started to slowly get the hang of it and learn things with the help of wonder weeks app tellling me when growth spurts were about to happen.
We got told with our 1st kid colic then reflux. They seem to be the go tos when u have an upset baby. Our son had an ectopic kidney that was putting pressure on his bladder causing pain but it was 6 months of fighting to get a scan on his tummy for a diagnosis that proved it wasnt reflux or colic. For a fast flow lay on your back feed her tummy to tummy or express (pump) a little milk first if its the initial latch were shes struggling, thinks will adjust and calm down. I made the mistake of expressing between feeds and had over supply with 1st child. Its a huge learning curve and your doing amazing. Both mine slept on us. Do whatever u need to do to get the most sleep as you all need the sleep. This sounds silly and drs didnt believe it at first but gripe water before every feed helped my son immensely but they can't have it until thr over a month old i dont think. My midwife advised it at 3wks as she said he was in so much pain and none of the things we had tried or been prescribed worked so she said just try it. It only worked if he had it before every feed though. You can get nipple shells to catch the milk on the other side while you feed. I used them as i was soaking with milk alot. Dangle feed for blocked ducts. Lay baby on her back on the bed and feed over the top of her so your boob is dangling and your on all fours. Sounds silly but that's the only thing that helped me.

I think you're such a natural mother, it's so amazing to see you blossoming in motherhood ❤ side note, I've always called my daughter baby girl too, she's 5 now and I call her baby girl more than her actual name 😂🥰

Try pumping for 2 to 3 minutes before you feed her. Helps that first rush of milk .

Thank you for sharing your story, you are an amazing parent and helping others. Maybe you could try a reflux pillow for babies to put in the cot or under its mattress to help your baby sleep better (I'm not parent so I don't know but I have seen these pillows on Amazon)

i'm 7 weeks postpartum been exclusively breastfeeding for 7 weeks also. I also have a fast letdown and oversupply. My lactation specialists in my case said that i apparently oversupply in the hind milk cause i guess thats possible. i also tried to regulate my supply so i constantly wasnt gushing but i couldnt so i have to pump and breastfeed cause thats the only way i dont soak through clothes

Just a question!!… yano if you have a heavy flow, could you not pump and then it goes in a bottle so that the baby still gets the breast milk that you want but it’s slower to give to her because it’s in a bottle?? Then she’s not in pain?

No one tells you how hard breastfeeding is. All they really mention is labour, labour and more labour lol. I struggled with it with my first born. I remember I was mourning the loss of my mum and was working sooooo hard with breastfeeding him. Got through it… then managed to have my second the following year and breastfed both for 5 months. It does get easier.

Omg how many problems can a mum experience if she wants to breastfeed . For me, my milk didn’t come out from the beginning and my baby was not latching properly she takes only the nipple without the areola and apparently I have an extremely sensitive nipple nerves that gives me shooting pain in my back, shoulders and neck when she’s feeding. However, I’m still fighting breastfeeding and I hope I’ll keep doing it until she’s 2 years.

I love your baby journey as I'm on it myself at the same stages but I bottle feed. Has you gp considered the pain Renailia has been in could be down to something non related to your breast. My little prince had exactly the same pain and green poos and agony when laying down and screaming in pain when burping right up until 9 weeks the only thing that soothed him was bouncing him upright bless his heart. The gp also suggested infacol ect, I must of been at the doctors 15 times! Baby prince does have kidney problems since pregnancy and has been in antibiotics b from 2 weeks old. Any way, the baby boy has been on aptamil peptil from the GP and is like a different baby prince now it's amazing. It's taking 2 weeks to see the change but turns out he's lactose intolerant. Me and dad aren't lactose intolerant but the antibiotics have caused it for him 😟 keep smashing it immo 💕 she's a lucky girl to have you and her dad x

Imogen wow you should be so incredibly proud of yourself. What a beautiful mum you are, and your clearly going above and beyond. I’ve been there I know it can all feel like hell, my little girl is 2 and 1/2 now, the mum guilt is so continuous trust me! My latest thing is how to get her to stop breastfeeding, I never thought that 2 years ago when I was struggling so bad. Wishing you all the best x
