I think you missed the mark on why *UK* is included in the countries that don't have a name. It's "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland", And apart from the sketchy "United Kingdom" which is not really a name saying "Northern Ireland" is just the same thing as saying "South Africa". Anyway I don't think that it's a problem when a country completely identifies with its geographical region. Incidentally Australia should be on the list, because as a matter of facts "Australia" the continent does not exactly match with "Australia" the country. The latter is just a part of the Australian continent just like South Africa is just a part of Africa, except in the case of Australia it's almost all of it.
