  • This video covers one common reason why your snowblower might be stalling out shortly after starting it up and not stay running.
If your snowblower is starting fine but stalling within a minute and refusing to start again for a significant amount of time, then there's a good chance that you have an issue with your float needle and the seat within the carburetor.
If there is not a perfect seal between the two (deformed rubber needle, deformed or damaged rubber seat, debris, or varnish from bad gas), then gas will flood the bowl, not be cut off, and will rise up the main jet and into the throat of the carburetor in liquid form. Once this happens, it will move into the cylinder and flood your engine.
After a while, the gas will seep by the piston rings and your engine will start again.
Once you fix the issue between the float needle and the seat, be sure to change your engine oil, since it will likely be mixed with gasoline!
