Braaaziiiill! Always wanted to check it out there, maybe one day. Thanks man glad you enjoyed it!
That looks like a Gibson 345 in stereo, right? Given that 355 or so expensive I was searching for a 345 for quite a while, never quite found one and I didn't want a 335 so I ended up going with the Epiphone casino, given that I'm still a beginner I figured it would work for now. Someday I may want to change the pickups to give it a hotter sound but I figured if I played it through a JC 40 jazz chorus, I would get that really nice stereo effect.
I've heard other people talk about the 345 that it doesn't really deliver in terms of power, just wondering your take on that. Are you using the stereo cords as an out?
Yessir it is a 345 in stereo! It is a 2010 so there are two outputs on it, a mono and a stereo. The Casino is a great guitar I had one for a little while. In terms of power for the 345, I definitely found the ES345 powerful while I was playing in a band and running through a full stack of Marshalls - the louder the amp the more the guitar would feed back and the more it would sustain notes, but I guess we could say that about any guitar I suppose. You could really feel it vibrating and the air shooting out the f-holes!
Lately though, I needed to get a compression/sustainer pedal playing at quieter volumes. Some of the notes do fade away, but I find the guitar amazing for layerings, open chords, and middle of the road gain rock parts. Anything heavier I usually go for a solid body. I personally love the 345 because of that Varitone switch, it is a very solid guitar for recording clean or low gain in my opinion.
Tone is great, but there's a few incorrect chords. The second chord in the intro/and verse is incorrect..it's D- A7sus4 , not D- G. The chord between the F at the 5th fret and C at the 8 fret is a G. You seem to be playing a B or Bm there.. and from Am it then goes to Fmaj7 with the open high E string.
Great ear, Matt. I just strummed the A7sus4 that'd be the one! I'm gonna fix it up when playing it from now on. Thanks!!
I don't know it, but I foot sure what to learn this song! It was the first Rush song I learned on the bass, and now that I'm trying to learn the guitar I like to see if I could at least start piecing this song together!
