I watch this on repeat. To Me it's better than tornado of souls because its so brilliantly musical. Its not shredding, because every note complements the song completely. Genius
Definitely. Lucretia has more interesting chords during the solo. Tornado is a great solo, but the rhythm is a pretty standard minor power chord progression.
It is certainly brilliant, as is Tornado, and obviously this things are personal. One would be ~very~ happy to compose just these two solos in his career. Marty puts it in back-to-back songs in an album.
@@kowxley1793 he was getting a lot of open string noise when he was playing. Cant help but wonder if it affects his palm muting or if he was having an off day
That's a lot of sweep-picking for a guy that claims that he hates that technique :P. And he's obviously sweep-picking during Holy Wars and Hangar 18 as well :P. Seriously though, its always nice to see Marty playing one of his finest solos (it's the best for me) so up-close. He just makes his guitar sing. It's even more ridiculous that he improvised this solo (and the one in Tornado of Souls). Unfair, hahaha. Anyway, he's my favorite guitarist, hands down.
Marty prefers to play his arpeggios throughout the neck as that way he has access to far more notes. He can still sweep very well, though not as well as Jason Becker did.
Um I'm not sure what you're seeing when you refer to "a lot of sweep picking". I watched multiple times to see what you meant and really only saw one small arpeggio at 0:46...

Marty Friedman has such much passion when he is playing, he could play an open E and still deliver a lake of emotions

It's shredding. That's not a bad thing.
Tornado of souls isn’t shredding either though, only real shreddy bit is the descending lick at the end. That solo is just as virtuoso.
