      @@SnareMan just curious, how much relevance does this have to actually develop shooting skills? Asking because obviously there's no big pop or recoil which is the biggest difference between this and a live round. So is this primarily for entertainment? What I mean is, you can't actually expect to hit targets at the range because you can nail them at home right? Your opinion on that?

    Another great video - thank you! AFA what you so correctly expressed as a potential concern...namely, creating the muscle memory of racking the slide after each trigger pull...certainly an issue with striker fired pistols. However, if you use a DA/SA hammer fired pistol...sure, each pull is a heavier DA pull, but no slide racking concerns.

    • @bansheerider619
      @bansheerider619 Год назад +1

      I agree the racking of the slide is not preferred. It’s about muscle memory when it comes to self defense. In a real situation it could cause the person to rack the slide after each shot.

    • @OnlineAdjunct

      There is such a thing as a resetting trigger, at least for Glock pistol and maybe others. It cocks the striker with each pull of the trigger without racking the slide, enabling you to fire several laser bursts in a row. You can do a search to look for one. One place that sells a resetting trigger for Glocks is The Glock Store in San Diego. I would be tempted to get one if I owned a Glock, but I don't.

    We just received ours today, & I wish I could have had this when I first started shooting, or at the least when it first came out. While it does have issues the biggest being the need to rack your slide (or in the case of a Glock purchase a $200 resetting trigger you need to constantly swap out) it is well worth $150. My wife, & I both have our CCWs the cost for us to get regular range time, & the cost of ammo is a lot for a single-income large family which brings me to my other point. I have nine kids seven still at home and a daughter that lives nearby (she also has her CCW). I am unaware of any free public pistol/rifle ranges, and even if we have a free-range, or are shooting at a friend's range the cost of ammo is depressing (even just 9mm), not to mention taking a bunch of kids to an outdoor range in Nebraska in the Winter so they can sit around, and freeze, or in the car while each kid gets some trigger time is a cold, slow process. Another issue out here is some ranges require children to be 13, & I have even seen 16yo as a minimum to shoot even with a parent. This product solves so many issues for us. I also am planning on getting the Mantix X Elite which is great for dry fire, as well as live-fire training, & both systems will work with the Blackbeard AR15 resetting trigger/laser package Mantis offers. I would love to see a Blackbeard variant for us AK guys soon. Our next purchase will certainly be a SIRT pistol so we don't have to use an actual firearm as well as have a resetting trigger. Thanks for the review.

    • @SnareMan
      @SnareMan  2 года назад

      I agree with all of the above. This is a nice alternative to paying for ammo and going to a range. Hopefully they'll eventually come out with something like they have for the ARs where you don't have to rack the slide.

    Great video, thanks! My even go to the bathroom in the morning gun EDC is a hammer fired DA only Sig 290 RS. Racking the slide in dry fire to me trains a bad habit. I would not do that.
    With that gun I don't need to reload the striker coz there is none.
    My home defense is a CZ P 09, also hammer fired.
    But beeing a DA/SA only the first round would be realistic. But what I can do in DA, I can do in SA even better.
    If I have to carry my CZ 10 S appendix, my Sig becomes back up, so I need another laser round. Does the bigger kit include two rounds?
    With the striker fired P 10 S, I would only do a single shot from appendix.
    Coming from revolvers I ask myself if the 9 mm (356) would hold in the chamber of my 357 mag as well with that o-ring?

    • @SnareMan

    Ok, What are the expendables, are the supplied targets required due to the software i.e. target recognition, and are the adhesives to hang the targets proprietary? What are my continuing costs? Is there a plan for SW update, that is improved training courses? Will there be user input?

    • @SnareMan
      @SnareMan  Год назад +1

      Maybe you'd have to buy some new sticky stuff to put the targets on the wall, but you could just use some scotch tape or something so its not really much of a cost. Not sure about updates. That's a question for Mantis.

    Maybe I missed it but what is being ejected and dropping on the floor after you shoot?? As an instructor it seems to me your developing muscle memory to rack the slide after each shot. Can’t be helped but it’s something to be aware of.

  • @athuddriver
    @athuddriver 2 года назад +1

    A couple thoughts.
    You aren't the only reviewer that doesn't mention to use a little oil on laser cartridge to protect the seals. Easy to miss that in their instructions.
    Have you tried to use the Dry Fire Mag to avoid the racking between shots?
    Good Video!!!

    • @chads.191
      @chads.191 Год назад +1

      Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me the dryfiremag negates the fire pin which would not allow the laser to be triggered

    Only negative is having to rack the slide every time. Could lead to a habit that you don't want in a real life defensive situation. Glockstore makes one (for Glocks, obviously) that resets the trigger every time.
