Many bands have tried to go back to their roots after a long time, they have all failed. Slipknot successfully brought us back to 99. The vibes, jumpsuits, bringing back old songs, the masks, the energy. Man they nailed it
@@V.Vaughanwhat about diluted I know Corey said he wouldn’t play it before because it means too much to him or something like that but I’m really hoping to hear it for the first time live
@portal432 yup. Just close your eyes and listen to eloys version of this song and solo, its hands down something joey would do, especially with the fast double bass towards the end
I still can't believe this is fucking real you don't understand how badly I've been wishing and praying for this. god I hope it stays on the setlist please god I need to hear it at their Inglewood show this is quite literally my dream come true
Well i got good news for you then, this whole 25th anniversary tour they will only be playing songs they wrote in 1999, Corey announced that at the beginning of the show
1999-2000 was raw and angry. A violent rage of deep, dark, angry thrashing at everything around it. pure chaos and brutal anarchy somehow 9 people pulled together and made work. 2024 is a completely horrifying version of all that. What was 25 years ago witnessing a violent seemingly uncontrolled act of violence. 2024 is that same scene, but it has now turned its head and has focused every bit of itself on you and locked eyes. A terrifying and refined version in its intension. It is incredible to watch what was before now morph into what it is today. No one expected 2024 Slipknot to be a rebirth. But it is. I cant wait to hear the new songs and what this group can create from this.
It feels like 99 but even better, with 25 y of experience. Corey's vocal feels so energized, and all the members seem to be in full sync to play their best. Awesome!
Thank you so much for posting this! what a time for maggots to unite! Michael did a killer job on the keg, the band as a whole sounds amazing, and eloy carrying on joeys spirit in drumming! I will be seeing them in Camden!
Fucking amazing to see them playing this song again. A bit disappointed that Corey didn’t start freestyling like he did back in the day but I wonder if the rest of the band was. Corey’s vocals also sound so much like they used to.
It doesn’t take many sentences and he would of probably wrote something down to memorize to include in his rehearsal, maybe the same way he speaks in other languages
The rambling on this song back then was trademark. No performance was like any others, each was different. I have a feeling the same will follow for this tour. Different days, Corey will do something different for this song. That’s the magic about this insane masterpiece of a song.
What a great and unexpected experience this show was. Nothing but vintage Slipknot. An absolute treat. I was a little sad I didn’t get to hear any of my favs from their later stuff but holy fuck this was honestly better. Old school scary fast paced insanity driven Slipknot at its best!!
I saw them play this during the summer of 2000. They lit the center of the stage and themselves on fire. Chris was running around in the crowd. It was terrifying. This is also pretty great.
Michael on the keg in the intro was a more than perfect performance of a sound which sets up the entire rest of the song with vibe and cadence. that was more than rewarding to witness something heard 25 years ago as one of the most unique and important creations from any part of slipknot sound catalog and almost never played live. the song is top of the lists of favorites for fans because of emotion and a cathartic energy which is hard to put into words. the song is a binding creation to help the soul find its path to the darkest parts of what the music is trying to describe and is a scale of measurement which ties together much of the more hard to explain expressions of sound which defines the band. it is the definition of the bands darkest emotions. Dude, Michael has created his own aura in all this. hes been a perfect addition and i love watching him create the live. Seeing that intro performed with heavy detail was one of the best parts in any performance the band has done.
When I woke up today to the news that they played their first 25th self-titled anniversary show, I was so eager to read through the setlist. Absolutely blew my mind when I saw Frail Limb Nursery and Scissors on it. So hope they stick to this setlist throughout.
To be fair when it comes to metal you cant really do the “classical drum solo” approach. Same reason Joey never did, he busted out a beat for a few bars but thats about it. It would throw off the energy and “vibe” if you go from full energy to a technical drum solo with too much dynamics and intricate patterns outside of hand/ foot combos. For example, a Matt Garska solo would sound terrible in Slipknot lol. Keeping it powerful and straightforward is the only approach for a metal drum solo. That way it flows back into the music. Its allowed to be “not technically dynamic” for the sake of the genre.
@@inixi8ocelot Naw Eloy is way more palpable than Garska. Garska gets boring because its so over the top. Eloy has power, and finesse. Garska is the Tim Hensen of drummers. Arrogant, cocky, and no personality lol
