Welcome back to our channel! The fourth of 12 stories in “The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes” is “The Stockbroker’s Clerk” (1893). The story is staged in June 1888, a few months after Watson marries Mary Morstan, hence the mention of "The Sign of the Four" (link is below). Chronologically speaking, “The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes” series is the 4th Holmes book, published after “A Study in Scarlet (1887),” “The Sign of the Four (1890)” and “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1891~92).” The series was published in the Strand Magazine from 1892 to 1893. It is the second Holmes book that Sidney Paget was commissioned to illustrate. If you haven’t listened to the previous series, please check them out by clicking the links below.
The story was originally written as a single “short story,” but we divided it into two parts for length. After putting together an almost hour-long video in the past, we decided that length was more than I could handle on a regular basis. We mean no disrespect to Conan Doyle, but dividing each story in a few parts seemed to make sense to us while still working a day job.
