The fact that jerry is still a larger than life figure all these years later is real testimony that he was the greatest of his time... his book Revelations is well worth a read if you haven't already!
I belayed Jerry Moffatt in the early 1980s in the Gunks on one climb. Good man. And our bouldering kit, BITD, consisted of shoes, chalkbag, toothbrush and a chunk of old carpeting.
What a legend! You were my climbing inspiration when I started out in 1984! I saw photos of you climbing in the Verdon and it totally blew me away. I travelled the world for a few years after that in my early 20's as a climbing bum and had the best time ever. Ended up living in Leysin, Switzerland, where Pat Littlejohn was head of the ISM climbing school founded by John Harlin.
I remember when Jerry Moffat came to Ft. Collins, CO. USA Mark Wilford a friend of mine was hosting at Horsetooth Boulders, Eldorado and other places..This was Trad 1984 and Mark and Jerry harvested new, serious 5.11 to 5.13...seems like yesterday, Jeff Bassett
Absolutely brilliant..really inspiring film. Met Jerry once, what a lovely chap and complete legend. Love your vids guys, so much to learn from each one!
I really liked this video. It says something in this ADHD day and age when it can hold my attention for the full length. I used to find Jerry's persona irritating when he was a top climber (alongside Ben Moon etc) but he has definitely changed my mind with this one.

Climbing highballs is always a struggle between the huge wish to climb that "beautiful" line and the certainty that in case of a fall you have (not you could have !!!) serious health problems. If you love climbing without injury forced interruptions you won´t do that ,cause it is not wearth the risk. To say sometimes No in live, not only in climbing is easier, when you are clever enough! :)
Bit frustrating watching this, interview with Jerry is so interesting and it's great seeing big current climbers doing these problems, but the interview with the climbing bible lads is bland and takes you out of the video a bit.
@0:49 He says "...went to boarding school in Llandudno..." , and used to "...climb in Llanberis Pass...", but makes no attempt to pronounce the place names properly.
My mate climbed the hardest boulder problem on Yorkshire grit by a mile. Never been even close to being repeated. But cos he ain't a big name nobody knows about it. Fvck climbing.
"You see people and there is no shame to be walking around with two great big mats" - Moffat. I don't know about anyone, but I feel literally zero shame for my desire to not break an ankle when limit bouldering. Also shows you the toxic culture of old skool British climbing.
I never understand why people hold their arms up when someone's climbing as if they're gonna catch them if they fall I've watched the clip multiple times all three of them move their arms away as he crashes into the mats . 0:20
@11:10 "Nowadays you see people with no shame, walking around, carrying two big mats. Pussies."
legend 🤣
No beating around the bush 😂

Does Jerry not get itchy fingers from coming out and seeing people have fun on rock?
He still climbs a little bit 👌
Nice one. Jerry comes across really well. But what about EuroHike 1 and 2? They don't look very happy?
Bit frustrating watching this, interview with Jerry is so interesting and it's great seeing big current climbers doing these problems, but the interview with the climbing bible lads is bland and takes you out of the video a bit.
Those mats are going to do sweet f all at that sort of height
😌
@0:49 He says "...went to boarding school in Llandudno..." , and used to "...climb in Llanberis Pass...", but makes no attempt to pronounce the place names properly.
I always wonder what people from other countries must think of UK lime stone. That classic squeak 😂
I imagine they must think enviously of it. Especially with classics such as figure of 16 to go at 👌
"Rest days? - Whats that?"
😅
Fvck bouldering.

Why can’t Jerry pronounce Ll in the place names omg
I never understand why people hold their arms up when someone's climbing as if they're gonna catch them if they fall I've watched the clip multiple times all three of them move their arms away as he crashes into the mats . 0:20
Spotting isn’t to catch it’s to help sorta push them into the crashpads to ensure they land on the pads if that makes sense👍
