Great comparison video of these two SRT's. I prefer the 2014 - 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT as it does look classier. The 2016 is probably the best as it has the new Shifter which in my eyes is a safer idea. Also with the later models there is way too much BLACK. It does need to be broken up around the Grille area using chrome or a Gunmetal edging instead of the chrome. Down here in AUSTRALIA all JGC SRT's have HEMI 6.4 Badges fitted to the front fenders that does make them stand out against the normal Jeep Grand Cherokee's. I do love the Black Chromed Spider Monkey Wheels the best as well.
I would definitely get the 2017 over 2016! I had a 2008 Jeep SRT8 and I loved it! If I can get a good deal I would definitely purchase one! I kinda wanna wait and see the track hawk! You forgot to mention the side badge is different and well as flat black wheels and 2 piece front rotors! And if I'm not mistaken possibly tail lights are now LED. Thanks for the video
7 лет назад
You are right about the badging and flat black wheels (optional) versus past chromed black wheels, the taillights were are already LED. Cheers and thanks for the comment!
i prefer the 2014, 2015, 2016 front end look much better compared to the 2017

Have you seen it in real life? Like I mention in the video in picture form I agree with you, but in real life you can better see the improvements. But again this is all subjective and we appreciate your comment :)
Landry Automobiles Ltée well I have seen both in real life as I was in the market for one for my speed fix while my heads and cam TA is in hibernation. After closely looking at both I went for the 2016 because when the silver grill rings are replaced with black ones, it's a HUGE aesthetic difference. The new one has such a small grill presence and it's just not as congruent with the car overall. At least that's my opinion and rational as to why I purchased a 16 over a 17.
8 лет назад
That's awesome, thanks for sharing your opinion. And as always looks are always up for debate. You make some good points in favor of the 2016, although some people may use those same points in to favor the 2017. Thanks for taking the time to share and have a great one!
7 лет назад+1
That's great! And I'm glad you are able to get the one you like, that's all that matters...
You know, it's a good question, this video was taken a few years ago so we actually do not remember. But it's likely that there were small differences.
The white 2017 looks sick!!! I kinda like the position of the daytime LEDs better on the 2015/16 though, however everything thing else on the white 2017 looks much better, bumper, grill, wheels etc.
I drove this bitch on one if my excursions as a rental, now in going to LEASE ONE, with the potential to BUY one in the future, the ride was smooth and the best part as the driver I didn't feel cramped up for the 3 hr drive my passengers felt comfortable as well
What kind of monthly lease cost are you looking at if you don't mind me asking. I'm looking for something a little bigger than my VW Golf R and a fast SUV is at the top of my list.
I like the old shape better. The long LED light look more modern and same with the bigger grill, more modern shape cars have the huge grills now like the BMW's. The bigger grill looks more masculine too. I wish they had dual exhaust tips though, both models.
I am glad that I like the "old" one better, as I don't plan to ever spend $70K+ on a vehicle again, and will be quite happy grabbing a 2016 in a couple of years.
7 лет назад
SRT's keep their value quite well, but indeed a 2016 will be significantly less than 70+K in 2 to 3 years.
I can buy a 2015 with normal-for-year miles all day long for $55K. That's $20K off MSRP or so from 12-18 months ago when it sold new. I've owned a new C6 Z06 and a new 370Z, and frankly, aside from the Corvette factory tour in BG, watching them build my Z06, got NOTHING out of buying either vehicle new, other than a bigger chunk taken out of my bank acct. I will quite happily scoop up a mommy-driven (yes, I see women in them all the time with the kids, etc. My area, it's kindof the low-brow G Wagon, which litter the streets as well) SRT Jeep in a couple of years for $50-55K. I got out of sports cars and into class 3 firearms and investing in property for the last few years though, and would like to stabilize more, or I'd buy one today. They really are amazing vehicles and I love the look of 'em!
I prefer the 2014/15/16 front fascia vs the newer edition...the new front air dam in the middle looks cheap when viewed in person (I have a 2015 SRT so I am a little biased). The new 2018 Trackhawk (707hp) does not have fog lights or lower LED...I do not care for the front fascia at all but love the four (4) vs two tailpipes common on the SRT....great review!!
I think I was the first person in Australia to buy a 2018 and I absolutely love it in the premium white. At first I liked the spider monkey wheels on the earlier model but the wheels have now grown on me now and I do prefer them. Imo chrome on plastic is just nasty looking. Down side on the 17/18 models is that the ECU is encrypted heavily so at the moment in Australia you need to send the ecu back to the states to get unlocked.
Maybe it's just me, but they haven't gotten the "aggressive" look right YET since the FIRST GEN!!! But they did do better with performance and the interior..

Seems to be a trend this comment :) And as we mentioned before there are no right or wrong answers because it's all tastes of the individual. Thanks for the comment! Happy New Year
I don't like the 2017 five star wheels. I just bought a 2016 SRT NIGHT Edition black on black and I must say the 2016 looks better. The five stars on the 2017 turned me off. When American cars get to the end of there production period they tend to cheapen up the design. Just my opinion. 2014 thru 2016 was the peak of this WK2 design.

There are three possible wheel combinations, the option shown is our favorite and the most popular with our clients. We personally really like the new look, but this is always a subject of opinion over fact. Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching the video... :)
you are right, why well the last srt was not that recognizable from the others when coming down the motorway, because of the chrome in the front or anywhere, it wasn't instant like " oh thats a srt baby" but now it stands by its self, oh yeah
The 2017 is way better then the old one I like the small grill better the old one's was really big and the new one looks meaner and the new jeep's gear knob is better then old one So my point is I prefer the new one!
For 2016. Do these numbers sound about right to you? 4,508 USA: 1,813 CAN: 830 MEX: 115 EXP: 1,750 (includes 1,354 Night editions)
8 лет назад
4500 Grand Cherokee SRT's sound slightly low to me however I would need to investigate, it's only because it's less than one per dealer and us alone we sell 5-6 Grand Cherokee SRT's a year.
From a reputable source. Same numbers as I posted earlier. Looks like you sell way more of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT's than most dealerships. Global "Night" total = 1,354 (30%) out of 4,508 total Jeep SRT builds for the 2016 model year. I will have breakdown by region and color soon.
as an FYI if you compare a white 2017 to a white 2016, the trim around the windows and front end is also black not chrome like the grey one. the white ones don't come with chrome in the older version as well.
7 лет назад
Thanks for the comment, and you're right about the 2016 production built in the year 2016, however the 2016 production built in fall of 2016 had chromed contours. Also our research shows white SRT's were chromed in the past as well, in Canada anyhow.
14/15 shifter is way cleaner looking and nicer to use feels more modern not so 1990ish so for that reason alone id take a 14/15 over a 16+...i just wish you would have talked more about the front bumper for longer
The 2017 front end and the black around the windows Blows away the 2016 front end it looks awesome I just can't decide now if I want to buy a 2019 ZL one Camaro or a 2019 SRT jeep 😡 Decisions decisions!!!
Mike Palm the transmission was fine but some people didnt like the way it shifted gears and they couldnt tell what gear they were in without looking down
ZL1 Saiyan My wife own a 2015 Laredo 4x4 i dont like to much the shifter feeling, but everything works perfectly, almost 5000 miles on it, she use to it very fast...
I still think the 2010 SRT8 generation has a more aggressive exterior. From from to back.
7 лет назад+1
You are not the first to mention this in the comments so far. And of course there are no wrong answers, it's all a question of taste, thanks for the comment...
Oh yeah. And thanks. However, I do understand that as a company, they have to move the brand forward. And that has to come with a new style direction. It would have been nice to see if they could have "finessed" the style of the 2010 version though, and had that as a current gen.
That's a very good question, and the answer is actually both. It depends when it was ordered. SRT's that have arrived before the spring time (pre-march or april) in theory should have SRT written on them, however those that arrived after should have Jeep written on them. The steering has also changed in the center.
wish you would have turned on the lights to see diference

That's a great idea, and we are sorry we didn't think of it. The white one shown in this video is already sold and delivered, however we are expecting another SRT in the weeks to come (maybe sooner) and we still have our 2015 we will be happy to oblige. Thanks so much for the great suggestion! :)
there is a rumor, that in the next SRT generation there will be no Jeep logo on front. It will disappear and will be replaced by FIAT logo :P i love Laguna leather and prefer center speedo, not rev. its not a Porsche for god sake!
7 лет назад
Hmmm... Fiat logo instead of Jeep huh? We'll take the bet that never happens :) Thanks for the comment, and we're not sure we understand what you mean by prefering the "center speedo" because the Grand Cherokee's speedo is in the center, the tachometer is on the left side of the dials. As for not being a Porsche, it's not far off in terms of performance especially when you consider that you could 2.5 Cayenne Turbo S's for the price of one Grand Cherokee SRT8. Have a great one!
:) i mean, that in GC SRT8 from 2014-2016 digital speedometer was on the middle of the clusters, analog revs where on the left. In 2017 model year there is digital revs on the center, and analog speedometer on the left side. I personally don't like it. Anyway, i know that Porsche or any other AMG or M are twice of price (on standard configuration) as fully loaded SRT :) Best regards!
The new one looks cheap as hell. That front bumper is horrendous

Well it's obviously a question of taste, perhaps seeing in real life would change your mind, but if not, beauty is the eye of the beholder as they say :)
Old or new same car to me and they both look amazing doesn’t matter me 😎

Not sure if it was an added option or not but most 16 models I've seen have the black trim pieces in the front as well.
nice video man, i have a 15 srt, I love that new front end on the 17.
Thanks, the 2015 is also a great looking Jeep, but we are also happy with the 2017 refresh.
Personally, I'll take that 2016.
2017 better than old....
The 2017 is much much better and meaner
Santa, I'll take either.. Thanks :)

Nice video. Love the srt8! I need to get one to review on my channel haha
The 2017 has the look of the Dodge Charger but widen and the 3 slit inlet is for the HellCat intercooler.

The 2016 Night Edition is the best looking Jeep SRT hands down. Satin Black finish all around makes it very aggressive

Does someone know if it's possible to mount the 2017 facelift front fascia on the 2015 pre facelift model without problems?
A body shop will install it with ease. Can be purchased from sorana and justforjeeps

whats different in performance???
