It is beauftiful - I suggest to listen to the version by K.D. Lang, which is also extremely well done - the only version that was approved by the maestro himself. She sang it for his inauguration into the hall of fame.
I think some covers of this song have been used in a "religious" context, mainly because it says "hallelujah" and the overall hymnal-style arrangement. But if you listen to the original words of Leonard Cohen, it's a song about sexual/romantic desire and loss. It's a great song, just people don't really listen to the lyrics.
@@GumaroRVillamil The first time I ever listened to the song’s lyrics I got really confused because I was like “huh, this doesn’t sing like a Christian/religious song.”
I love this version! She's also one of the few performers of this song who resists the urge to raise an octave when doing the Hallelujah part on one or more of the verses. Beautiful!
I was in a pretty dark place a year ago. So much has changed within a year. Keep finding that strength within. Just keep going. There's a light at the end for us all and there's always plenty of room. 😊👍🏻
I've been fighting a series of life and limb threatening infections for months without much hope. This song reminded me of my faith even as I lie very ill in a hospital. Thank you so much.
В вашем исполнении, она такая мягкая, добрая, женская...мне очень понравилось, я всплакнул. спасибо, мне всего 34 года. благодаря таким песням и людям я понимаю что ещё не всё потеряно в этом мире....
Last week I thought to myself , I wish Malukah would record Hallelujah . This may be tied for me as the best version of Hallelujah along with K.D. Lang"s version . As near to perfection as can be .
I'm sorry I'm not good at English, I first heard this song from Shrek and I'm still listening to it. It's already been 20 years. I'm Korean and I'm not a believer, but the lyrics and song always touch me.
The original song is a masterpiece and a total goosebumps-song... and so is this. Which is impressive by itself, considering how often this song was covered and by whom. Thank you once again, Malu
Malu singing blows right through every particle of me, pushing all the racket and negativity out as easy as a soft breeze. Love this woman's voice. Always have. Ug. My heart.
Once again, your voice is a soothing balm to my troubled mind and soul. You help me through the rough days, your voice is just so calming. Never stop singing my friend, you are a true Bard.
I have heard this song covered so many times by many great artists, and been disappointed by every one. Too many people don't understand the song. They make it whinny or give it some religious fervor. They sing the words, but do not feel them. I see Malukah, whom I generally enjoy, present a cover and I think, "Oh, no. I'm not going to like it." Thank you, Malukah, for proving me wrong. This is the best cover of this song I have heard, dare I say even than Tim Buckley's cover? I dare say. Thank you for that most joyous listening experience. :)
My older brother ballroom dances to this song after my great grandmother passed away. It's so beautiful I think of the great times I had with her ❤❤❤. Thank you Malukah :')
You know this song always makes me cry Malu. So glad you've published this one. I m always amazed and taken aback by your breathtaking covers and original music and this one's no exception. My eyes are blurry but I love it. Thank you for sharing your talent with us my friend. Stay safe and be well. Much love from us here in Kansas to your family!
This song gets covered far too often because everyone realizes how impactful the lyrics are (even if not everyone, myself included, can be sure they fully understand them). Leonard Cohen was a lyrical genius, and very few people seem to really do the song justice to my ears. However, this cover, this one hits just right. Bravo!
I love this song and I'm sure you sing it wonderfully. But I can't listen to it. Not now. Maybe in a few months, maybe in a year. My adoptive mother loved Hallelujah, but listening to it reminds me of her. Right now, it hurts to much. But I look forward to the point where I can listen to it and think of the joy it would have brought her to her you sing this. Thank you, Malukah.
Sorry it took so long to watch this, but with finals I didn't have a good chance to sit and give this a proper listen. So many covers of this song give me goosebumps, but this one gave me variable goosebumps. Starting with subtle ones then ones that hit my spine with the more powerful parts of the song. This just might be my new favorite from you Malukah, but Leliana's song will always hold a special place as the song that introduced your amazing voice to me. If you don't post again before the holidays. Happy holidays Malu and the reverb empire.
Once again, no matter if you're a believer or not just hearing you're songs made me seen the touch of God true you're voice that is clearly the voice of an angel.
Another winter begins in which my vibes will be complimented absolutely by Malukah covers. Thank you so much for being a part of my love of winter, Malukah.
Some things never change. When my thoughts concerning what's going on in the world take me in a bad direction, I try to stop where I am and go directly to the angelic voice that I can always count on to bring me up. Thanks for providing a place to go, Malukah ... you are an angel on earth! This song will be number 1 on my list for a long time.
You know Malu, you mention how you had to settle for the arrangement here, but I think the simplicity and almost raw feel to the song is really impressive already! The gentle reverb/harmonies on the word 'Hallelujah' is beautiful and almost haunting, and you give the words a gentle feel while the audience can feel the power behind them. It's not forced or strained, it's just very natural and human. And honestly, it is fantastic as it is! Great job Malu, it is always wonderful to hear music from you. Your voice really puts me at ease! Thank you so much for this! Much love to you and your family! :)
This is one of those songs that is incredibly simple so simple that most artists fuck it up because they add unessisary embellishments to the song and it ruins the the feel of the song but you like always did it perfectly.
I'm so happy that you take the time to share your beautiful self with us and give us your heavenly voice to appreciate and listen. You give us all a moment of heaven.
man i remember first listening to your video of the dragonborn comes way back in school when i had no worries and now here we are...so glad you still make videos for all of us to enjoy
My god. Getting goose bumps all over again. First Sound of Silence and now this? Wow. Just Wow. Hope this gets as many views as your Skyrim covers cause it definitely deserves it.
You popped up in my feed. I was like most people that loved your cover of The Dragonborn Comes. I just got done listening to this one. I hope you are doing well and I still enjoy listening to your voice.
one of my favorite SONGS filled with so much sadness and hope ,, RIP JEFF Buckley .. :( You made it a bit brighter Malukah ! LOVE YOU SO MUCH !! Merry Christmas everyone .. F ! 2020! lets carry on .. :) :)

Every time I see a cover of this song I brace myself for a cringe. Humbly, I was wrong. This is outstanding! Everyone tries to throw gospel vocal on top of this song and reach too hard for the notes that are meant to be sung with soft passion. Not the Pop music style boisterous vocals that everyone seems to give this song. It's either that or they turn the song into something religious. (WHICH IT IS NOT MEANT TO BE!) But this, my dear Malukah, was simply perfect. Your tone was haunting and sweet. Almost sad and desperate. Just like it is supposed to be for this tune. *goosebumps* 100% A+ Gold star!

Yes we can!
David: *plays a chord*
The Lord: Ah yes that's the one 🎶
This song is the chord in question.
It started with the skyrim song... since then I'm a huge fan... great as always
OMG i know right!
Me too.
You got that right. She has such an amazing voice. When she did her first Skyrim music video I was hooked.
skyrim was the frosting for me what got me was reignite mass effect
"And even though it all went wrong I'll stand before the Lord of Song with nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah." Beautiful.
Sent more than one shiver down my spine.
We all do one day.
Hopefully, we will still remember how to sing...
Just what I needed. My mom died a month ago and been feeling pretty low. But you're voice is enchanting as always! Thank you!
So sorry for your loss
I'm sorry for your loss.
Be strong brother ❤️
So sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace with the Lord. 💐
Leonard Cohen would be proud...amazing
hard to believe I first heard her sing 9 years ago when I got into Skyrim. I still love her voice
The best female cover I’ve ever heard hands down. I’m not surprised.
It is beauftiful - I suggest to listen to the version by K.D. Lang, which is also extremely well done - the only version that was approved by the maestro himself. She sang it for his inauguration into the hall of fame.

I heard this song in sooo many versions, but this one gave me goosebumps!
Your voice is so unique and phenomenal. Just wonderful 💚
а я думал, давно не слышал эту пеесню. И тут вот она, в отличной версии!
У Pentatonix A-Capella очень не плохо она звучит. А у Джудит голос глубже и она в одно лицо хорошо может. Получилось. За душу взяло.
I'm in a pretty dark place, and this song made it a little less dark
When places seem the most dark, don't forget you can always turn on the lights, strength lies within you. You can get through it.
