Kinda missing the point if the lens IMO. Where it excels is as a daytime travel or everyday carry AF lens. You can easily toss an S9 with this lens and a manual small/fast pancake 28/35/50 (depending on your needs) into a small sling and have an all around kit in a very light package. This thing paired with a TTartisans 50f/2 or 7 Artisans 35f/1.4 is perfect. Hopefully L mount will continue to grow and smaller AF lenses will come, but for now these are the limitations of the newer system. Btw, the footage you shot in the car at 20,000 iso didn’t look half bad, at least on my phone lol.
I’m glad the 20,000ISO didn’t look too bad! It wasn’t as awful as I thought when I was editing it tbh. The lens is great for daytime use but the low light stuff I’ve mentioned is definitely something I believe buyers should be aware of. I am looking forward to more L mount lenses from Lumix
I don’t own S9, but i owned ZVE1, a full frame Sony camera. That 18-40mm is great in comparison to 28-60mm in Sony. That ultra wide 18mm is really useful for landscape and you don’t need a wider aperture because everything needs to be in focus. I have this lens i will get a 50mm prime lens and boom you have a perfect combo. Sony doesn’t have that ultra wide lens as a kit lens. You have to buy 16-35mm f4 if you want ultra wide lens. But Panasonics listens and they knew those coming from phone would like an ultra-wide lens too. So they give consumers 18mm. For me i have sony kit lens, had to fork out 16-35mm to get an ultra-wide and had to buy another lens for prime. That is three lenses. 😊
That’s a really good point! I do appreciate how much Lumix pays attention to its users. I love Sony but I am loving being a Lumix user a fair bit more 😊 how’s the ZVE1 doing for ya? I’ve only heard positive things :)
@ i sold it. It was a good camera but not for me. The Sony lenses are expensive as well as the camera is too pricey for walk around. So i just have ZV1 II for the moment. It is lightweight.
@ yes thank you. But i am looking for something light but can produce bokeh. So my target will be, ZVE10 II or Fujifilm XM5 or Panasonic S9. However i’m not rushing, i am going to wait what 2025 is going to offer. Will see what will happen this year.
They’re offering the S9 with this kit lens right now with a free 50mm 1.8. Looking for a light everyday camera (currently have a Fuji X-H2), do you recommend it for 95% photo and 5% video usage with this current promotion?
@Markchristiankc It's a preference of mine to favour primes over zooms. The Sigma 45mm 2.8 DG DN feels natural on the S9 body, it's sharper, better build quality, has an aperture ring, better for low light with the constant 2.8, and overall feels like a version of Lumix's Leica Q.
Ooo I see. And is there a reason you choose the 45mm focal length over others? I’ve seen some of the small sigma primes and they look awesome for the S9. What is it you shoot?
You can’t really beat it for an everyday daytime lens which is exactly when you want something small. Bit too expensive but no other options in this space.
i as watching other video from this channel then i wanted to see more videos and i just saw the subscribers wth i was expecting atleast 1M from the quality of the videos
@@Markchristiankcbeen kicking myself for not taking advantage of the sale on the S9 for the holidays. Maybe someday I’ll scoop one up or even get sent one 🤞🏻

@Mraz75 ahh I see. You gotta use what’s best for you so I can understand selling it.

Great video Mark!
Thank you! ☺️

Wait so the camera with a kit lens and then a FREE 50mm? Wow that’s a good deal yeah I’d go for that. It’s a great camera for photography
@@MarkchristiankcYes, it’s on the LUMIX S9 website. And the camera is $300 off as well.
@Sleepyboiwonder woah awesome 🤩
The best all around lens for this camera is the Sigma 45mm 2.8 DG DN. Try it and get back to us!
I’ll have to try it out! What makes it the best lens in your opinion? 😊

i would go with sigma 35mm as video stabilization mode crops in footage
sigma 24- 70 is also solid

Fair point! If you can get it as a kit lens bundled with the S9 it’s a good way to buy the lens for much cheaper :)
This or the 20-60?
Depends if you wanna vlog. The extra 2mm does make a difference. Also depends if you want a smaller overall setup.

It happens man! But maybe post Xmas sales 👀
@@Markchristiankcbro they had 300 dollars off plus 20% off plus the 26mm toy lens. Not bad!
Nice!!
Great review, hard pass on the lens… esp at 500. Makes a lot more sense at about 250
Agreed, I guess that’s why it’s so cheap with the S9. Incentive to buy the camera too.
I have it Black with that cage but the Red looks dope too 🙄
Haha red is my favourite colour so had to get it 🤪
the lens is turned on.... ;) oh la la
I’m that good even lenses get excited 😂
@Markchristiankc 😂💀
