I've experienced the same thing with a German chick on a European camping trip. We're all standing in front of the fire and this chick comes up and stands right in front of me! This has happened to me frequently when I have to deal with some Europeans. Also, knowing how to swim, ride a bike, and drive stick shift are things that are invaluable
Something similar happened to me when I was waiting for my luggage at Arrivals in Bucharest airport. I was standing about 4-5 feet away from the conveyor belt, and OUT OF NOWHERE, a family of three move to stand RIGHT in front of me. There was sufficient space around me, but that seemed so deliberate to stand RIGHT in front of me, to the point I had to take two steps back. That was an isolated incident, mind. I'm a black woman from London UKL, and this was back in July 2013.
16:03 I had that same problem in some of the small towns around Prague. And I remember telling my friend about when we got back to our hotel and she said “they were getting close to smell and touch you” “I saw a few people get close to touch your braids or smell ur head and back.” Now whenever I travel I’m super paranoid about that. But I’ve noticed when I travel with my black friends some of whom are darker than me. If we are in a place with not a lot of black ppl then I notice ppl getting close on purpose and touching them and smelling them. Especially my dark skin friends. It’s fukn weird. It’s worse than in the Asian counties where they are blatant about the fascination cuz the Europeans are sneakier and creepier about it.

You should go to Denmark and Scandinavia. Denmark has been named the happiest country in the world multiple times. It is a lovely small country and they love Americans. They celebrate the 4th of July to honor America. Without the US during WW2 and even today, Denmark would have been taken over by Germany or Russia. Everyone speaks English fluently.
Dee, I love your style of vlogging❤. Your insights are unique and insightful. Also, its seems like you are not traveling alone since you're talking to us while you're doing you.
There are plenty of lovely people in Austria. That said, the mean people in Austria are pro-level mean. We're talking about the former Holy Roman Empire & Austro-Hungarian empire & the land of the mustache man's birth. They've had a lot of practice.
Hi Dee, I’m a very new subscriber as of today December 15. Enjoying your video. You’re right about those characters who were behind you on the tour cruise. I LOVE YOUR CAMERA WORK. What type of camera are you using? It’s incredible!! Very beautiful sharp clarity and colors. I’m impressed. Please share details about your great camera, GoPro, etc. You’re a great videographer. I love classical music, which touches my soul and makes me cry. I also am a strong jazz fan and love Funk.
Ehh I got spoiled by looking at the comments on the last vlog. Wasn't expecting the person who treated her that way to be black, but reading the comments ruined it for me 😭
In what part of the US you grownup in? Genuine question, because I plan to visit one day and I have no perception of personal space at all. Feel myself awesome in crowds.
Great travel video once more! I'm European and don't like people getting too close either. For example at stores. I guess it's a personal thing and I might say something out loud. But where I live and in several other countries people mostly avoid confrontation and might look at you a certain way instead to show their thoughts. And I never heard of Vienna being rude. We only ever hear about music etc. It's funny though that they insisted on being rude despite your nice examples 😂
Currently in Europe right now and I’m glad to see that I’m not crazy. I’ve experienced this same thing and try to keep cool because I’m from a small town and was thinking hey maybe this is how people in big cities operate but now I think it’s a subtle sign of oppression. Can’t tell you how many times people don’t move out of the way or bump into me when there’s ample space where we are.
AH was not born in Vienna, but in Braunau am Inn (Aut), but he lived in Vienna for a while and wanted to go to art college there, but was rejected several times, unfortunately.
lol on the topic of other cultures and personal space: I’ll never forget a family cruise we did on a European cruise line, my mom and I were walking back to my room with food to enjoy on my balcony. An Asian women who was walking towards us in the narrow hallway literally stopped and tiptoed to look inside my mom’s plate, bare face was inches from my mom’s food! Like she must’ve breathed on it! My mom didn’t miss a beat and very dramatically said “oh wow do you want to taste it m’am?? You can take the whole plate if you like cuz I’m definitely it gonna touch it now!” That lady’s face got so red and she walked away so fast!! 🤣🤣🤣 if she didn’t understand my mom’s words there was no mistaking her tone and demeanor! My mom is tall, dark and LOUD too 😭😭😭
@@Ria-wq9gu that’s the idea but I’ve been all across Europe, they’re definitely not always clean lol I’ve paid several times and have been annoyed when they were dirty
I have heard that Vienna is one of the most liveable cities in the world, but that apparently is for yte folks according to one source from some years ago. I do know a Black guy who was living in Vienna and teaching Jazz Piano at the U of Vienna. He married an Austrian woman and has a bi-racial son who attends a local gymnasium (somewhat like a prep school) in Vienna. On my visit to the city in 2018, he, his son, and I walked about the city, especially the Heldenplatz since I was scheduled to attend two Viennese balls at the Hofburg, on on the following evening and the second two nights later. 2018 was the first time I'd visited Vienna as I had been following the Viennese Balls, which are UNESCO World Heritage Events on You Tube, and I wanted to attend at least two. In SoCal, about a year before I made my trip, I began taking private Viennese Waltz lessons, and also took it upon myself to learn the pattern of the balls, and the chant one sings (in German, of course) during part 6 of the Fledermaus Quadrille which is usually danced at midnight. I arranged for tickets and a partner, a grandseigneur (older guy) for the balls I wanted to attend (Ärzteball AKA Medical Professional's Ball and Jägerball AKA Hunter's Ball). I also purchased a Dirndl on-line from a shop in Vienna, Tostmann, for the Jägerball since the dress code was Trachten (Dirndls for the women and those loden suits for the men which I think they call Steirische suits). I had the time of my life at those balls, dancing Viennese Waltz and no, I did not get dizzy, Polka, Fledermaus Quadrille, Fox Trotts, Samba, Tango, etc., and yes, I did dance until dawn. My partner was really a cool guy, very progressive politically, a member of the SPÖ (political party) and interested in the California hippie culture of the late 1960's after having seen the movie, "Woodstock". Believe it or not, while at the Jägerball we quietly sang, "I Think I'm Fixin' to Die Rag", by Country Joe and the Fish to each other, including the infamous "cheer" which preceeded the song. I spent a lot of time at Stephansdom, the Pieterskirche, the Stadtpark, and the Mozart Haus. I'm into classical music; used to play cello, and I attend opera performances annually in SoCal, and have attended also in San Francisco and Santa Fe as well as the Met in NYC.
@Dee Shanell, I'm not going to lie, you look like someone who would physically fight someone for bumping against you and doesn't apologize, lol. You're very outspoken and nonchalant and I think that puts a lot of people off. For some reason people don't expect you to demand respect or speak up for yourself and when you do they have the audacity to get annoyed. It's like they expect you to accept how they choose to treat you. I'm quite sure you can handle yourself but it irritates me so much when people behave out of pocket and act as if you're in the wrong. I would have stayed right there with my camera. They chose to plop their little happy behinds in recording view so I'm not trying to accommodate their annoyance. I get that you shouldn't allow people and their behaviour to dictate your peace but chile.... sometimes I get tired of being the bigger person. All that standing in front of you and bumping against you without saying excuse me is literally none problematic for some people/culture's. People can be weird!!! But you're right, the energy you put out is the energy you'll receive.
I'm from LA too and moved to the South. I had no idea summer thunderstorms were so common out here! It rains more in the summer than any other season here and the thunderstorms are like out of a movie. Growing up in LA, I thought rain was mostly a cold weather thing. It's very different everywhere.
These rental motorboats (no license required) have just 6 hp, so they are a little faster than a rowing boat. In the past, as in the USA, Sundays were justified on religious grounds, but today they are justified by workers' and family rights in Europe. Who needs to store 24/7? Take a trip with the family, go to the movies, go out to eat, go hiking, visit an amusement park or zoo, ....
I'm surrounded by a lot of people who doesn't have any awareness for space of others or something... rage 😂. I like to be where no one else is, if people are like that. It really depends on where You go. Not all people are like that. Luckily.

Been to a couple of Scandinavian countries; people not mean, but definitely not too friendly...
They probably thought they were sailing with Beyoncé!
I know it’s annoying but most Europeans don’t understand personal space. I have friends from Spain that will literally talk to you nose to nose 🤦🏻♂️
Editing & live commentary was funny ❤ wanna be living your travel life right now. Thanks for taking us along
Thanks for watching 😊
Hi Dee,
I’m a very new subscriber as of today December 15.
I can recommend you to visit Zurich, Switzerland.
I did, I loved it. Going back soon 😊
15:29 always whitivities
Typical suspects
@johnathanelizalde4909 lol
ALWAYS
Black at it again
FR The caucasity 😂
The best thing about coming to videos an hour late is the comments prepare me for what’s about to happen without too many spoilers 😂😂😂
Ehh I got spoiled by looking at the comments on the last vlog. Wasn't expecting the person who treated her that way to be black, but reading the comments ruined it for me 😭
I fucking luv ur vlogss smmm dee ughhh, quality and editing is AMAZINGGG
Aww thank youuu, appreciate you so much ❤️ thanks for watching and supporting 🤗
That opening mix is 🔥🔥🔥
“Why are you close to me is the question” Nah facts cuz get tf away 😂
Girl you were in Vienna I could've shown your around sis, I'm a huge fan
In what part of the US you grownup in? Genuine question, because I plan to visit one day and I have no perception of personal space at all. Feel myself awesome in crowds.
Going places I always wanted to see!!
❤🔥😍
It's the amazing architecture for me!!!
So many beautiful buildings, old and new!!
Nice video, what camera you shooting with, the picture is really clear.
Thanks for taking us with you 🙂
I love the hair girl don’t let the ratchets get to you 😍
I spent 1 month in Germany 🇩🇪 while taking a road trip to Fussen, Hallstatt, and Salzburg. Wonderful.
Not the side eye 😂 16:40
Your choice of music and the video transitions are done very well, along with everything else. Keep up the great work! 😊
What drone do you use?
Great travel video once more! I'm European and don't like people getting too close either. For example at stores. I guess it's a personal thing and I might say something out loud. But where I live and in several other countries people mostly avoid confrontation and might look at you a certain way instead to show their thoughts. And I never heard of Vienna being rude. We only ever hear about music etc. It's funny though that they insisted on being rude despite your nice examples 😂
Yeah it can definitely be a personal thing! Some people don’t mind being unnecessarily close to others, which is crazy to me 😂
Other countries and cultures have different personal spaces. Take the subway in Tokyo!
Dee what camera do you use for these amazing shots love the quality
Oh the rain 🌧️☔ thing if you stayed in England for a month you ll cry daily!!! I was there for a decade it's one of the things that made me move
I probably would have been like “hellur is there a problem?”
On me I woulda been like wassguuudd
Amazing vlog , hope you enjoy your visit 🎉❤
Hangry is when you haven’t ate in a while, so you get angry. Hungry + Angry = Hangry 😂😂😂
My mom is tall, dark and LOUD too 😭😭😭
Sometimes the less people the closer they get. Small town mentality is just like that.
You gotta pay for the bathroom? That's crazy! Have a great Sunday Dee
Yeahh this is veryy common throughout Europe, unless you’re in a restaurant or coffee shop or something. You have a great Sunday too! 😁
@DeeShanellTV Thank you Dee. 😃😁
Ask us what we pay for healthcare! 😜
Isn't that how they keep it clean. Chose your poison. Dirty or a fee.
@@Ria-wq9gu that’s the idea but I’ve been all across Europe, they’re definitely not always clean lol I’ve paid several times and have been annoyed when they were dirty
lolol it really is sooo beautiful!! - this is why i cant/dont travel too much. i LOATHE ppl in my personal space!!
I just left Vienna last week. Loved that.
Love travel vlog Dee 🥰🥰💖
Glad you liked the vlog 🤗
LOVVVEEE your Vlogs, but can we talk about the music?!?! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much 🤗
Yes you do need certification to operate a boat. In NJ, you have it added on your Driver's license
I'm from LA too and moved to the South. I had no idea summer thunderstorms were so common out here! It rains more in the summer than any other season here and the thunderstorms are like out of a movie. Growing up in LA, I thought rain was mostly a cold weather thing. It's very different everywhere.
Travelling from Munich to Vienna to make a day trip to Hallstatt is interesting tour planning 😅
Ouuuuu chile the ppl...anyway nice video with the edits on point as always ❤and that nasty x u don't have to call mashup....NEED IT NOWWWW 😂
Come on cinema 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 them shots at 21:26 were incredible.
Thanks my lovely 🤗
I feel like u handled that well cuz I would’ve been more confrontational. Especially if I was just already irritated 😂
It's really not unusual that it rains during the summer in Europe. It's the same in south Florida. Especially late summer during hurricane season.
Anyone know the name of the Break My Soul remix she used @14:10?👀🙏🏾
I'm surrounded by a lot of people who doesn't have any awareness for space of others or something... rage 😂. I like to be where no one else is, if people are like that. It really depends on where You go. Not all people are like that. Luckily.
Pick Picketers are very prevalent in some parts of Europe. That's how they do it, they get in people's personal spaces. Keep in mind that this happens in New York as well. Stay safe Sister. 😄💯
That’s a great point, I’m definitely gonna keep this in mind in the future. Pick pocketing didn’t even cross my mind
I’m from Belgium and the paying to use the bathroom is only like small change but that goes to pay the ppl who keep them clean. Personally, I’d rather pay to use a clean bathroom but that’s me. It’s basically like Aldi’s and the quarter to get the carts. I’ve seen some horror movie scene bathrooms stateside that made me not want to use public rr’s here. 😂
I feel so inspired by your vlogs, I dream about traveling more, can’t wait to make it a reality🤍also does your editor make your background music, the mixes are always so good🔥
Love this! You’ll be traveling in no time, I hope I’m able to help with options for countries you’ll visit 😊 also, I edit my own videos and pick the music. I only have a thumbnail editor for my reaction channel. The music I find on RUclips, TikTok, etc.
I was in Vienna in September, and I found the people cool, but I have lived in Germany for a decade😅😅. I saw two incidents of road rage. One was a bus driver who got out and lashed out at a driver who parked at a bus stop.
Your travel vlogs are beautiful, question where are you finding these version of the songs mashed up there hella dope
okay. help me out. that Bryson Tiller remix---what remix is that and where can i find it?
FYI: The color black absorbs heat...a white hat is much more effective...one of the few things white😜😇
So Austria vs Germany, which one do you prefer. I lived in both, people in Austria seems friendlier, warmer. Then again, I live in Graz and not Vienna.
I preferred Austria!
These are so entertaining
I found Austria shocking,y rude and mean. To very high levels. The wait staff and customer service were insane in there rudeness and unhelpfulness even to the point of refusing to do the absolute basics of there job and lying about it There favorite word for everything was impossible for even simple things. I was polite. Also men literally regularly pushed me over, I was shocked!
You have to pay to use public bathrooms in Belize too. But it’s only $.50 or $1
