    At 7:52 I was hoping your beard was going to be substantially longer when you “came back” after waiting for the notes to separate.
    In all seriousness though, your videos have been immensely helpful. I never knew what the wrench mode was for until today. I used to just guess where every note separated and test out a bunch of different cuts while thinking “there’s got to be a better way to do this” so I’m very pleased to learn that there is indeed.
    PS: a dark mode for Melodyne would be amazing! Run it up the chain, eh?

    Not sure if I can ask questions..where is melodyne a good placement in editing/mastering chain, before everything-eq, compression, but maybe again in end with timing?

    • @celemony
      @celemony  Месяц назад +1

      We recommend putting Melodyne in the very first insert slot of your effect chain. Otherwise, since Melodyne works internally with a copy of your audio track, any effect plug-ins before Melodyne would be printed to the working copy. That’s not ideal if you want to change some parameters later in the mix. Also, there’s no need for multiple Melodyne instances in the same effect chain. You can edit everything in one Melodyne window. Hope this helps.

    Can you work with the note separation tool slider on just a selection? Maybe everything is good on a track except eight bars in the middle of the song.

    • @celemony
      @celemony  10 месяцев назад

      You mean the Leveling macro? Yes, this can be applied to whatever you have selected. If you don’t select anything, it will apply to all the notes.

    Is this what I think it is .. Can you separate the Tracks from an already Mixed Song? Sorry if this is a dumb question though..😬

    • @celemony
      @celemony  11 месяцев назад

      The DNA technology in Melodyne wasn’t designed to take mixed songs apart, if this is your question. It’s for individual polyphonic instruments. Hope this helps.

    Is this sonically better than just using a compressor?

    • @celemony
      @celemony  Год назад +2

      It’s different. A compressor could affect your transients, color the sound, and add pumping or other artefacts, which might or might not be what you want. Melodyne just changes the levels. You could as well use them both in conjunction.

    I have been fine tuning vocals with Melodyne. I have Wavetuner but I do like the hands on that Melodyne gives me. Only think is my vocals though natural you can tell the lyrics are now on a grid.

    Is there a way to do the opposite?

    • @celemony
      @celemony  8 месяцев назад +1

      You mean, like making quiet notes even quieter? There’s no macro for it, but of course you could select all quiet notes and use the Amplitude tool on them to make them as quiet or loud as you want. Hope this helps.

    • @unlockedsummit
      @unlockedsummit 8 месяцев назад

      @@celemony Yes that works. It could just be a tool to "decompress" something or make it push through an effect. Send it to the devs as a suggestion ;)

    I hate it when I watch video's where they mention features (in the case ARA) but they don't tell you ARA is, what it does, how it's accessed. I bought the studio version of melodyne, paid close to 900 for it & I've never learned enough about it because the instruction is so flawed in failing to include important explanations, overviews, & all the stuff that would normally be included if they'd only hired a professional educator to teach it instead of just hiring someone who knows how to use it but hasn't much of a clue how to teach it professionally. I find, having migrated from the IT space where training is taken as seriously as the programming of the software, that music software vendors are the the worst at documenting & training their products properly. I hate it that I spend so much money on these products & yet they can't invest in better teaching so that I can make better use of them. It's not just melodyne - it's the entire music industry. Roland is one of the best at documentation & training but they are still terrible compared to most other vertical software industries.

      Hello Sean, we’re happy to see that most users really like our videos and even praise Rich for his educating style, so sorry if your experience differs. We have lots of videos in our RUclips channel, i.e. several hours worth of training material, for both absolute Melodyne beginners and more advanced users. Also, we’ve recently created a few RUclips playlists to make it even easier to navigate through our video content. If our videos still don’t do it for you, we have a comprehensive Melodyne documentation, articles, Q&As, etc. in our Help Center: helpcenter.celemony.com. Please see if this already helps you. If it doesn’t or you still have any questions after that, our support team will be happy to help: www.celemony.com/support. Thanks!

      @@celemony All due respect after posting an example (not knowing what ARA is) I figured if anyone responded from your company you might tell me. I still don't know what ARA is. That's also what it's been like for me & your support section is that it seems geared to teach people who already are thoroughly familiar & need advanced. I'm guessing people love your stuff if they are in that category. However it is my opinion that you are unaware of how much you take for granted when you teach - either that or you figure people who know nothing about your software should invest 100's of hours looking everything up that you've mentioned but failed to teach what it is. Every time I use your video's I lose so much time without being any more informed I realized years ago that you were never going to change your teaching style. Should I ever decide to attempt to learn it I'll hire a coach who knows it inside out & invest the time & money. However it's pretty sad that I can't learn it efficiently without a coach. Why not hire a genius educator who has never seen Melodyne & then show him/her my article & ask him to let you know why some people can learn very little from your work & then ask for ideas how to teach it in a way. I've spent countless hours trying to figure out why I can't get on my screen what you do on yours.

      @@SeanWyseman I really don’t get what you are complaining about. First of all, this video here isn’t even about ARA. But if you want to know what ARA is and how it works, you’ll find quite a few videos in the Celemony channel. This one for example: ruclips.net/video/Rvz84roaWeY/видео.html - Or this older one from 2019: ruclips.net/video/XV4it5iQbk4/видео.html - And here’s an entire playlist about ARA in Pro Tools: ruclips.net/p/PLxhHYjuFEd5eyK16fzuJjf0-QTUIuRYtT If I can find them in a few seconds, I’m sure you can, too. 🙂

      @@pop_polizei Thanks for trying to help. However you are 100 percent right. You don't really get what I'm talking about which leads you to say the same thing @celemony told me. Clearly they don't get what I'm talking about either. But at least I tried. In case you didn't know it the music industry has the worst overall support & the worst teaching methods in any industry I've been a part of. There are very few who do a decent job. But I'm wasting my words because now I've got two people giving me the same useless responses.

      I don't know if this information is helpful at this point, but I'll give you a brief explanation. Melodyne is a software that runs as a standalone app (that works by itself, without need to install any other software) or as a plugin (that needs another software to run, in most cases, a DAW).
      Usually plugins come in VST3 format (or AU for Mac users, or AAX for protools users).
      ARA is a new kind of plugin, that is directly connected with the DAW timeline. Which provide an experience to run the standalone version of Melodyne inside your DAW, with all advanced functions (VST3 tends to be more limited).
      To run the ARA version, you need to have a DAW that is compatible with this technology (like protools, logic, reaper, studio one). Just open the Melodyne plugin and the ARA interface will be connected with your timeline, and all the changes you made will be applied in real time.
      It is a kind of plugin that increases the productivity. Before ARA exist, to use advanced functions, the user had to open the standalone app, render the file and put it on the DAW.
