As a indian i want to gave a small advice, it's ok to travel in cheap train's if you travel with in the South India it' means your starting point and ending point with in the South India,in case if you in travel in North India it's better to buy high price tickets.
No it will be also packed, I was going to kochi to Kozhikode it was fully packed, people steping on my foot, people also fight in train better get reserved tickets
