- This is what is actually my very first MAD, since the Franada one I posted earlier was made in the middle of this vid. The quality of images changes throughout the video because I acquired Adobe Photoshop after I had already started the MAD. Im sorry, I dont feel like changing it.
DISCLAIMER: I AM AWARE OF MY OWN HISTORICAL INACCURACIES IN THE VID. For starters, the burning of Washington happened during the War of 1812, NOT during the Revolutionary War, but I decided that it fit the dramatic mood of the vid better if placed there. Immediately following that I have the rebuilding of Washington which you already know is out of order. The Louisiana Purchase (and thus Lewis and Clark) happened in 1803 before the burning of Washington, after the Revolutionary War. I think those are all of my chronology errors?
For more clarification, the UK helped the South (portrayed by female America) during the Civil War later on, we have the Battle of Britain with Germany vs. Britain during WWII. Thats about the extent of the history I put in here.
My God did this take every ounce of patience. 200+ frames (236 to be exact), about a months work (although I did do it gradually). And all for a couple that isnt even my OTP. Im taking a break from vid making for a little while to concentrate on school, but Im certainly game for another MAD if I find the right song for the right pairing. Im contemplating a Russia/America one next, and Canada/Netherlands is always awesome. But who knows? No promises.

I haven't really been an active part of the hetalia fandom in years, but for some reason today I remembered this video and spent a good hour or so at 1am (and I have a class at 8am tomorrow, er, today) trying to find it despite not remembering anything other than that it was a usuk video with black and white drawings and it made me really emotional, haha. Well I found it and oh my
I just hope you know that all these damn years later this is STILL the thing I see in my head when I hear this song. It's been over 8 years. Please let me rest.
I love the part where Canada [And England] are burning down the white house since it actually happened, xD.
The first war America ever declared on another country was on fucking Canada which is funny because they are shown a siblings. I can just imagine it being so sort of sibling squabble while England was gone xD
This video is what got me into Hetalia and it is still one of the best videos live ever seen- I particularly like the part where America punches Germany. Great job.

I'm extremely impressed by how much emotion you were able to convey through the video, especially with France and Germany, though they were different. Germany's was more of a "You're wrong, it's not love" and France's was more of a "Be grateful for what you have."
(My heart might have broken just a little after seeing this. =;) )
I can't believe this. So freakin' awesome. The history of the America, and America's personal side portrayed beautifully, and his struggle to become a country with his unresolved feelings for England. I love this! So freakin' cute!!!

unexpectedly recommendation again in 2024 but i’ll always have a soft spot for usuk and this is still incredibly well made

Even though some of the events are out of order, they make it flow very smoothly. You did a great job on this.

*slow claps* Oh, God. This was one of the most moving USUK vids I've ever seen. I absolutely adore the song, and your artwork was beautiful. I started bawling at the burning of the White House. Anayway, don't worry about the order that the events are in. I actually didn't think it was supposed to be in chronological order, rather, Alfred remembering all of his troubles with Arthur. And besides, your jod as creator is to invoke certain feelings in your watcher, which you did perfectly. Bravo.
The part where Mat and Iggy were burning down the White House and then seeing Alfred drop to his knees almost made me CRY! D: It was so good! ilovedit!

awww, this was so great xD I almost cried though when America said "still you said forever" after England and Canada burned Washington... How betrayed must have America felt when that happened! (even if it WAS during the war of 1812, not the Revolutionary War xD) its just so sad... but I still LOVED the video~ and the song... must go download that now xD Great great job~~~

So after violently sobbing andd writhing with pain in my chest I watched the ending and cryed once again, only in forms of joy...I made my best friend (who isn't much of a Hetalian) watch it, she had the same response. This was breath taking and beautiful.

I now relate to this song and America's situation even more. I now know the feelings of love and hurt that warred within America. He just needed time as do I to recover from the pain. We still love the other (although isn't in the romantic sense).
