The singer Jari Mäenpää is missing 1/4 of his lungs due to a lung operation after he contracted tuberculosis during his military service. Just an interesting fact. 😊
25% of one lung.
Check out “lack of comprehension” by the band Death. Chuck Schuldiner one of the great all time Metal Guitar players.
It's is the drummer from Nightwish. Kai is a beast of a drummer.
We are so lucky to have him 🤩😍
Kai really IS a beast with drums! And he's so versatile! Just check his jazz abilities from this Roland performance ruclips.net/video/EvSTZhDXpKo/видео.html
"He's the drummer from Nightwish. He's the drummer from Wintersun." NO, hes the drummer from ROTTEN SOUND, and noone knows about his grindcore drumming.
@@panzerkin9097 And Cartilage.
I mean he is the drummer from wintersun and swallow the sun and many others, but sure he plays with Nightwish now
16:46 the fuck did you just say? There’s a whole orchestra of instruments, with tons of time signature changes and polyrhythms
Teemu Mäntysaari the lead guitarist plays Ibanez so probably a custom ibanez.
And when it comes to great vocalists you better check out Amorphis. Another amazing band from Finland and arguably the best clean vocals and growls in metal.
It really looks like a Solar guitar to me.
I correct that..it is an Ibanez.
Yeah, Tomi Joutsen is so awesome!
But never forget Christian Älvestam. Amaaazing clean vocals and superb, deep, brutal growls...😁🤘🏻😎
For great guitar work he should also check Insomnium. They make guitars sing (quite literally)
Both guitars are from Ibanez’s LA custom shop.
This is Kai's previous band. He was asked to replace Nightwish's drummer at the time Jukka, because he was battling some serious insomnia problems and once it became clear that he could not come back, they asked Kai to be the permanent drummer.
Also here are a couple of interesting videos showing Kai playing drums on this song live and also him explaining the techniques used.
ruclips.net/video/08_PduSKNWU/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/BGMbHHgga18/видео.html
those are exactly the videos i wanted to find and link!
kai also playing wintersun,he never left band. so he have 2 band nightwish and this one, lucky guy.
Bodom level? If you like Bodom’s Kissing the Shadows solo you will like Wintersun’s solo from the song Winter Madness. Great sweep arpeggios!!
Greatest metal guitar solo ever
or the one from Death and the healing
@@milangabris9494 yeah, Winter Madness is more fun to listen to and watch other people try to play imo, but the solo(s) from Death and the Healing are Jari's true magnum opus imo
Wintersun is definitely one of my favourites! You should really listen to their Forest Seasons album. 4 incredible songs
that album is a masterpiece! i love Winter \m/
My fave Wintersun album so far!! Autumn feeds my soul...
Kai Hahto is actually one of the founding members of Wintersun and good friends with the old Nightwish drummer Jukka Nevalainen. Wich is why Jukka chose him as his successor in Nightwish.
Teemu Mäntysaari's guitars as far as i know:
Ibanez LA Custom RGA
Ibanez RGD Prestige Prototype
Ibanez J-Custom RG8470FBX
Ibanez J-Custom RG LTD '97
Nowadays he plays mostly with modified Ibanez JBM100 guitars. Modifications include Evertune bridge, Fishman pus, scallops, inlay, some body modifications and color.
Kai the drummer was also briefly in the doom metal band Swallow The Sun.
You csn see him in thei video 'Cathedral Walls', which also has Anette from Nightwish singing the female parts (the gal seen in the video is Aleah (d. 2016) from Trees Of Eternity)
Seen them live and their vocals together is on point. Amazing to watch live.
Actually Heri Joensen from Týr (pronounced Tuyr, or something like that 😂) is part of Wintersun's epic choir that also includes singers from Turisas, Ensiferum and more!
I don't from where you come from but trust me, Týr isn't pronounced Tuyr. It is pronounce like "teer" or "tear" doesn't really matter, sounds the same.
@@imperror3475 I'm not talking about the name of the god but the name of the band, watch any interview, that's how they say it's pronounced :)
PS: hail Hoots!
@@imperror3475 Danu is correct, with the accented y, in Faroese it's pronounced somewhere between 'toi-er' and 'tui-er' with a slightly trilled r
@@imperror3475 Týr is a Faroese band, in other words the language is close to old norse, but still unique. They don't pronounce the band name anywhere close to what you'd say in English
The addition of Ensiferum is logical really since Jari founded the band
If you like Finish melo-death, check out "Insomnium - While we Sleep". Pure awesomeness!
And Omnium Gatherum.
My god! I thought you couldn't get any better when you said they remind you of Týr!! Yes! It's like a symphonic, folk, death, viking inspired metal. Hella props for you knowing them! I'm fairly sure, if I remember correctly, the vocalist for Týr, along with other folk metal/Scandinavian bands' vocalists, sang the main, epic chorus finale for this song. :)
Thank's .This is also one my favorite band alongside Nightwish. I recommend listening to "Time" for the same rehearsals and definitely Jari's sensitive interpretation of the song "Loneliness".
Teemu Mäntysaari uses Ibanez models LACS RGA, LACS RGR, RGA622XH, RGR5220M, RGR652AHBF. Jari Mäenpää Ibanez guitar’s - JEM7V-WH
Great job with reactions, I like your approach on analysis and infos. For some awesome clean and growls, how about some Amorphis reactions soon? Greetings from Finland o/
The bass player was also in a band called Norther (great band), which had guitarist/singer of Ensiferum (great band). Then the drummer is also in Nightwish so finnish metal musicians really are versatile
@Sergey Kolomiyets you were wondering, that's a custom made Ibanez, they all play Ibanez
they switch who is lead and who is solo many times. it' very interesting (maybe not in this particular song, but)
Kai Hahto was the drummer to Wintersun first but for sure he is a beast no matter where he plays.
The guitar player with the green guitar is using an Axe Fx, basically he can sound whatever ways he wants to, so to say acoustic without a real piezo but simulating it.
Nice vid ! Please react to "winter Madness" from WinterSun there is a crazy guitar solo in it !!
I don't say an album is perfect very often but from top to bottom the first Wintersun album is perfect.
I'd like to see an Arsis or Necrophagist reaction.
Teemu is playing a custom Ibanez.
That song must be brutal on Kai.
Nightwish stuff must be like a holiday for him!
According to an article, Kai said that Toumas requires a more expansive drum kit and more "technical" playing versus Wintersun's more straight up power playing...
Still (in my opinion) one of the best drummers there is, current or past... Kai's a true beast! 🤘🤘🤘
@@timlubbers2884 That surprises me, considering the polyrhythms Kai had to devise to pull off this particular song. Though i suppose once you've practiced it and have a given polyrhythm in your mind's ear, you no longer have to count it.
Both play Ibanez, these guys are masters of the craft. Jari (singer) also does the background keyboard work. Teemu (other guitar player) uses customized Ibanez
Jari, the singer used to be in Ensiferum (one of the "folk metal big 5") and the singer of Týr is part of the choir he usualy has on Wintersun's albums, along with a bunch of other folk metal singers.
As for the guitars, the solos on Wintersun's first album are insane, at the very least equal to Bodom. The guy who plays the green guitar, Teemu, also was in a band called "Imperanon" which only released one album before breaking up, but the guitars on that also give early Bodom a run for their money
Nice reaction! Would love to see you react to their song "Time" from the same studio rehearsal!
People are arguing in Finland which guitarist is better Alexi Laiho from Bodom or Jari Mäenpää from Wintersun. I myself like Jari better... It could be cause Wintersun is more versatile than Bodom.
I hope you could react to other two songs from same rehearsals Land of Snow and Sorrow and Time. They are really different comparing to Sons of Winter and Stars. Please and peace 🙏🏼😎✌🏼
Yes We are Bro! And my result has always been! Jari is best quitarist in Finland and Allu is best quitarist of whole World! 😆. So I think We have a tie.
As a melancholic Finn, I second Land of Snow and Sorrow :)
Never heard of such argumentation. Who anyway haves time to argue on matters that are mostly subjective to personal taste :D both are great on their thing
Technique wise Teemu is better than Jari and Alexi. I've been playing for 15 years myself and what i have seen and heard several times live, he is one of the cleanest and most aware of his own playing out there. He is also a very known teacher nowadays. The music and solos are of course subjective.
Actually, i'd have to go with Kupiainen, the mans a fucking legend, those 2 are just really good. Also, that's just from 30+ dudes, there's a whole new breed of guitar players in the 15-25s and these kids are technically speaking absolutely fucking ridiculous, just attend local metal shows at random and you'll see, some of these kids would play rings around anyone mentioned in this thread. We live in good times for technical metal my friends.
If you like Wintersun, maybe it would fit also to take a look at Mäenpääs former band Ensiferum. They took him out of the band, because they wanted him to finally work at the Wintersun-Debut
Otherwise still suggesting Blind Guardian live at Wacken 2015 with Bards Song / Valhalla.
Or SOILWORK - Let This River Flow (there is a live-version with Floor joining this song)
I thought he couldnt tour with ensiferum and he left to work on wintersun first album.
Bards Song/Valhalla at Wacken will get blocked. It's been blocked on more than a few reaction channels.
6:20 Greatest tempo change ever executed.
Guitar used by Teemu is a custom Ibanez based on RGA321F-SPB
the vocal is a talented musician. he is the song writer and their songs are massive
Wintersun is one of the music deities
It's an Ibanez. In one of his other videos you can see the label in the headstock. He does have some customized ones, so maybe that's what happened.
It really looks like a Solar guitar to me.
I think it's his Solar Type S.
@@andrewjessup6951 Yeah, to me too. I had to look it up But it's still an Ibanez. ruclips.net/video/0lNUlu7N2ks/видео.html
I'm watching this video a bit late. I'm not sure if someone has already answered the question of what guitar Teemu is playing. I know he plays Ibanez, and has some with the upside down headstock, but that might actually be a Solar.
In my opinion Wintersun songs are waaaaay harder to play than any of Children Of Bodom's songs.
The green guitar is a custom ibanez
Jari has also put down his guitar at live show's to focus on vocals🤘 I saw Wintersun twice in January 🤘💜🤘
Jari’s main guitars are a silver Ibanez LACS RGD Custom and a modified Ibanez Jem7V-WH from 2007. Article to Wintersun rigs www.metalsucks.net/2013/07/30/rigged-wintersun/.
From the above linked article, talking about the guitar the lead is played on:
My main guitars are a blue Ibanez LACS RGA Custom ...
The blue custom (drop-C) has an RGA body with custom scoops on both sides. The neck is based on my 1987 Ibanez Jem LNG and is slightly rounder and thicker than most Jem necks. The pickups are an open calibrated set of Bare Knuckle Black Hawks with ceramic magnets and the guitar is also equipped with a piezo system (Ibanez Double Edge-Pro bridge) for more realistic acoustic guitar emulation.
Jari is playing Daemoness guitars mostly these days from what I've seen...
This is Ensiferum's original singer/guitarist, if you know them
I wasn't expecting to hear TYR referenced. That mid 00s Folk/Viking metal scene was stacked. Ensiferum,Amon Amarth,Korpiklaani,Finntroll. Just killers.
Also Turisas!
Both guitarists are playing Ibanez.
Great reaction! Would love to see you react to Ne Obliviscaris- And plague flowers the kaleidoscope. It will not disappoint!!
Time I next.
Early Ensiferum, while Jari was with them, is the germ of this sound.
Yes he has piezo sattles on his ibanez!
Huh. Haven't heard anyone mention Tyr in a while! They kind of fizzled out for me after the first three albums albums, but wow, yes.
you were wondering @sergei kolomiyets, that's a custom made Ibanez
someone probably already answered you but all three are playing Ibanez guitars. The lead guitar you are asking about is an LA Customs Ibanez.
the guitar from memory is from the ibanez RG linup
Yes! \m/
You should react to Opeth. Amazing guitar riffs and vocalist plays guitar and does good cleans but amazing harsh vocals. Some high screams but amazing low gowns too.
Time next? :)) or Winter from their last album.
I think Jari’s Guitar was from Daemoness Bristol UK.
Before the Dawn - Deadsong
ruclips.net/video/0lNUlu7N2ks/видео.html
Here you will see that guitar in action more closely. Pickups are also mentioned in the description.
They are using quite a lot of backing tracks. All the keyboards, and a ton of vocals.
That blue guitar is a Ibanez LACS RGA Custom.
Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God
If you want darker vocals 😊
Its a custom ibanez the greenish blue guitar lead aka teemu. and man time 1 has some good solos same with death and the healing and winter madness. Kai also is now a permant member of nightwish b/c the other drummer has severe insomia so he replaced him so he can recover, and little tibbit on kai he was also in swallow the sun, rotting sound. So he have fast pace and slow speeds underhis belt. And if you do listen to the forest that weeps its one of the most involved song i ever seen for vocal wise i ment.
Drummer was in winter son now he is in night wish
I can recommend you to listen to Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor [Live] (from 2006). Jeff Loomis and Chris Broderick on the guitars are from another dimension.
Try some Brazilian metal: Angra! "The Shadow Hunter" from the album Temple of Shadows, although there's no video, sadly...
Great song. Great album, my favorite from them.
I believe the green (possibly blue) guitar is a Legator Ninja.
No it's a Ibanez RGA made in the LA customshop
Teemu plays ibanez. The reason it looks different is because headstock is reversed and the logo is probably black. He has alot of cool ibanez guitars. The new guitars Asim Searah also has alot of cool ibby's
Like growls? Do AMORPHIS DEATH OF A KING its a another Finnish band
Yes, nice deep growls (not gutteral deep though just rich and full bodied) especially towards the end.
Amazing tune, thanks man!
Teemu plays am Ibanez RGA321F-SPB
If you are a fan of black metal and like lead heavy stuff (which I think most of us guitarists do) I'd recommend checking out Windir. They have quite a few songs with great leads all throughout (kinda one of the unique things they were known for). Fagning or Resurrection of the Wild are two good ones.
I think all Teemu's guitars are Ibanez customized to his taste by Estonian luthier Kaur Kukkur Woodwork Studio. For example, see facebook.com/teemuwintersun/photos/a.1351624378281730/1444925462284954/?type=1&theater
I think Jari is using similarly customized guitars.
Here more details about guitars

I'm sure someone answered already, but they both play Ibanez.
Yeees!

🤘💚🤘
No, it's Nightwish got drummer from Wintersun, to bo correct ;)
Teemu Mäntysaari's guitar is Ibanez..
Hi there, if you enjoy this kind of stuff, you really should check out Atavistia. Their style is very similar to Wintersun's and they have just realeased a new album. I think especially "Through the hollow raven's eyes" is really worth reacting to.
Teemu's blue guitar is an Ibanez LACS RGA Custom see his rig review at www.metalsucks.net/2013/07/30/rigged-wintersun/?fbclid=IwAR1ZIydI6600pZlfqG4plJa6vPvVeMdK_o0kx5RX68zHCU4CUho8UJiEtog
Check out Wintersun's first album 😉
You should check Children of Bodoms cover of Billy Idols old classic Rebel Yell. He actually kinda sings too
Hey so far i have not seen a reaction to older Nightwish with Tarja in her highdays (for my anyway :p) Id highly suggest Dead Boy's Poem or Beauty and the Beast from the From Wishes to Eternity live dvd. Please check it out!
If you like that you have to have to have to listen to ne obliviscaris and plague flowers the kaleidoskope!! 🤘
If you're looking for interesting guitar work we could definitely recommend bands like Periphery, Animals as Leaders, Ne Obliviscaris, Persefone, TesseracT. All different and great in their own right.
Want to see early Nightwish like 1999: Nightwish live lists chart TV Finland (1999). Thestart playing at minute 2:52
You should watch the drum-cam -version of this song. How the f*ck Kai does that? :D
Hey is it really not much going on musically? to my non-expert ear this sounds complex af ...
guess it sounds complex cause of all the layer. Wich is kind a "cheating" (I love the song dont get me wrong^^)
@@Tearnofear it is pretty complex, but they have songs that are a lot more so
Very complex. I heard here is about 800 layers. Vocals, choir, orchestra, synth, drums and others. I think a lot of instruments are doubled, tripled e.t.c. And Jari in an interview not long time ago said, that his Mac Pro with 16-core Xeon can’t run his new projects even without plugins. So. We are waiting for something gorgeous.
Jari is using Ibanez :)
My guess for the brand of guitar by looking at it is Solar
It’s Ibanez
the guitars used you can see here equipboard.com/pros/jari-maenpaa

both guitars are ibanez !
They are both using Ibanez guitars.
Definitely a Solar Guitar.
I correct that...it is an Ibanez
All reactors should react, isn't that drummer from rotten sound :D
thanx great analyze react about this amazing song and band. singer jari hired new guitarist him band that he can singing only with conserts,so he doesnt play guitar anymore when go live. you should chect this band song named loneliness. it´s maybe sadnes and beautiful song this world. many people use that song funerals. jari father die and that song get more that way emotions. it´s lyric video. ok have great day there mr kolomiyets.
got some devin townsend feeling around 7 minutes.
You might know already, but Jari (the vocalist and composer) is a Devin Townsend fan, so spot on there.
It's an ibanez ever tune
Master Level Epic Folk Metal.
So gooood.
I think both them use Ibanez.
Eternal Darkness (Autumn) is probably up your alley if you like black metal. I'm not actually a big fan of black metal, EXCEPT for that song.
Well if you're into great guitar work and low growls, then you should check out Opeth,.
