Under the 40mm cannon requirement (by half), an honorary mention of:.. The He 112 A-O! It does not have a very large cannon, however, for its Battle Rating of 1.7, and armour piercing of around 30-35mm where you would actually be fighting things, it hits hard. It also has great maneuvre-ability and speed, making it quite fun for Ground Realistic Mode.
@@angelapolinar5343 Ik. My comment wsa unrelated to the P.108, and was just an interjection. Also I glanced through the original comment somewhat briefly, so I apologize if my response feels out of place.
I miss an old game called heroes in the sky. It’s a WW2 air combat MMO and you can choose which weapons/upgrade you want to use, even had a public lobby you can move around, interact and trade weapon drops with people. Kinda sad there’s not a bigger audience
One of the most versatile planes around tbh. I just wish you could swap them out while in a match. Before they added AP to the Yak-9 45mms, the 37mm was the best for ground pounding but now the 45mm is king.
The P 108 is the only plane that can be ammo racked. Its ammo stowage for the 102mm can be destroyed. It doesnt detonate however. Just removes all your remaining ammo.
The P.108 A NEEDS it’s ballistics computer. Although none of the specs remain, the plane itself is useless in game in air, ground, or naval as a whole. Giving the gun the ability to use its range and velocity with relative accuracy via ballistics computer would make it choice for precision strikes.
I wanted to love the P.108 but it is a sheer meme even in coastal navy battles, barely able to hit slow moving targets from distance that is safe from AAA MGs, which are enough to cripple the plane quickly with the BS AI aiming that is still present in the naval mode. Any hits scored were devastating though, and could often one-shot a naval craft.
For destroying ground targets in Air EC it's quite alright. Has enough ammo and punch to make up for the chonky flight characteristics. Also has capable defensive armament. But yeah in other gamemodes I wouldn't play it.
It should be a strike aircraft. The T18s were torpedo attackers but the standard one fits better as a bomber in terms of its ordnance. But the 57mm one should in no way be considered a bomber, especially since they made it a separate variant (irl the gun was just an ordnance option that could be installed in like an hour).
6:58 That’s probably mostly thanks to the size of yak engines. The m-105s are absolute beasts of engines and their shafts must be absolutely ginormous too.
The Duck is honestly better with HE for ground pounding at 2.0. Just search for open tops and armored cars. Probably apply to the other big gun planes that are at a br with a lot of open tops.
It's crazy how quickly aircraft armaments scaled up. In WWI there were a handful of planes that had a 20mm cannon and they used them much like these WWII aircraft use their 50mm+ guns.
Fun fact about the p.108a If you bring this baby into naval and load HE shells then target destroyer torpedoes, guns and superstructures you can take out large ships by setting them on fire, ive actually managed to sink a sendai light cruiser with this strategy
Always wondered: 1)how good would be a hybrid of Grizzly and "Duck"? At least it'll have real engines. And some explosive filler. 2)NS-45 loaded with minengeshoss rounds; 3)what if ShKAS was chambered in german 13x81mm as both it and MG-131 were designed to maximise firepower in dimensions of normal rifle caliber machinegun.
The P.108A's reload might be slow, but it's fast for the caliber, and even faster than it used to be (went from 5sec down to 3sec reload). It's also great at not killing what you hit :D I have a love hate relationship with that plane
You forgot the Tu-1s. It has 2 45mm Cannons with full APHE Belts and can carry additional 3 1000kg bombs. I'm so glad that I bought it in the last 50% sale.
very nice! About the 129, i read the recoil was so great, it caused flights to be unstable, needing the gun to be jettisoned. but the Tempest, if i may say/ask, can the Ju 87 G-1 be counted as this, considering its cannons were of a similar design?
Sadly the Ju 87 G-1 uses twin 37mm guns so I didn't include it on this list. I find it interesting that IRL the G-1 only had 4 shots from each cannon but the WT Devs where generous and gave it more. Off the top of my head I think it's 12 per cannon.
@@TheIronArmenianakaGIHaigs The major difference between the G-1 and G-2 was the increased ammo capacity to 12 rounds per gun, but in War Thunder they both have the same capacity
