Before I started playing it was THIS kind of stuff that really made me want to learn...now that I've been playing for almost 20 years it makes me want to stop lol
+DeanOMiite I'm an absolute beginner, just started learning guitar for few months but I kinda know how you feel. In fact I also feel it myself, knowing that no matter how hard I learn I'll never be as good as this guy make me feel kinda sad and demotivated lol
DeanOMiite Thanks for your kind words. I'm also joking, haha. Of course I will keep playing, cause it's just too damn fun. I blown my own mind away once few weeks back when I finally able to play sweet child o mine intro because of sheer excitement, lol. I don't think I'll stop playing anytime soon.
+Ikhsan Hasbi Don't just "learn guitar". Playing guitar is not very hard, in fact, any instrument you should be able to just look at it and know how to use it. That being said, if you ever want a chance in hell of being able to play like this you need to start learning music theory. Or else you'll just be stuck playing covers of your favorite songs for 5 years like I was.
The song at the beginning of the video is one of Nick's songs from In a Locked Room On The Moon titled "Sandmonster". Awesome playing! Such a great song and really makes for a great acoustic track. He's got tabs on his site for every track on the album. I just recently discovered his music through this channel and instantly went to his channel to subscribe.
This sounds amazing, would never have thought it was a fairly inexpensive guitar! I think Nicks playing has a lot to do with the sound, he's incredible.
Ah I heard Jeff Loomis talk about Nick during an interview and yeah this guys a monster player. Nick if you're reading this I'm just gonna go ahead and buy your album without sampling any of it because I already know I love how you play. Been a great 2 months for me as I've discovered Jeff, Keith and now Nick. My love for technical guitar has been restored!!!
So......did you lower the bridge to get an action that supports that kind of riffing? I've got one and the action was too high for me to do scales above the 7th fret with out some work.
sensational playing! that snappy hybrid picking would be perfect for reviewing a Telecaster and a tube amp.. Not exactly useful to realize how a folk guitar sounds, but it still remains sensational playin
+Seth O'Quinn The tune is called Sandmonster and is on his second album. Shoot Nick a message on facebook or the likes and he usually has signed physical copies for sale, or you can buy it digitally from his website i suspect :)
Makes me want to discover more acoustic guitar oriented music. This kind of an offtop question but did you apply any treatment to your walls to reduce the amount of sound pressure received in the adjacents rooms? I would like to isolate my room a bit as the walls let pass a lot.
The only Yamaha item I own is my weekend motorcycle lol can’t decide on whether to get the most expensive Yamaha ac5 or a Taylor 214ce Koa Deluxe. Please help D:
Woo!
Nick Johnston Great job!!
Nick Johnston awesome, Nick. Recently purchased your Atomic Mind album from ITunes, Saw you jamming Ghost on Keith Merrow's channel.
WOOORD
Fischize Thank you so much for the support!! :D
Nick Johnston woot woot! you fucking rock man!

Before I started playing it was THIS kind of stuff that really made me want to learn...now that I've been playing for almost 20 years it makes me want to stop lol
+DeanOMiite What do you mean? why does it make you wanna stop?
+DeanOMiite I'm an absolute beginner, just started learning guitar for few months but I kinda know how you feel. In fact I also feel it myself, knowing that no matter how hard I learn I'll never be as good as this guy make me feel kinda sad and demotivated lol
ahaaaaa! it's clear to me now

Not my type of music but I can recognise talent and skills when I see/hear it and this man has it.
One of the best instrument demos I've ever seen-great job!

Thanks.
WOWOWOOW sounds so Clean
My first decent guitar was a Yamaha CG110. They also make amazing piano's, electric guitars, and heavy machinery :)
+Ian Wrigley their machines are the best.
True.....Who cannot love a company that makes great music instruments, as well as motorcycles ( with their tuning fork logo on them).
This sounds amazing, would never have thought it was a fairly inexpensive guitar!
I think Nicks playing has a lot to do with the sound, he's incredible.
I've been playing since 1981 and I still can't play as well as this. Fantastic sir.
Amazing guitar and playing that just was off the charts great!
Thanks Nick- Fantastic playing, we shared it to our page we were so impressed.
Damn, someone give this guy an award.. Bravo!
Ah I heard Jeff Loomis talk about Nick during an interview and yeah this guys a monster player. Spaceboy74 You're too kind!
Keith, where do you keep finding all these incredibly talented guitar players!!!??
Thomas Farrow Nick is from Ontario. You should really check out his stuff: I am quite fond of his first album "Public Display of Infection."
Hey thanks! :)
My God,those skills are almost ridiculous. :O Keep up the good work both of you!
more tasty playing, well done Sir.
Damn dude, I don't even care about the guitar anymore. That was the coolest guitar solo i've ever heard.
This is so good!
fantastic sounds thanks for this video. fantasticos sonidos gracias por este video ;)
Awesome playing
I love that sound
This dude can freakin' PLAY!
I can tune... with a tuner..
The guitar is awesome as well as the playing
and i'm here just play G-D-Em-C chord, lol
Something that's not metal on Keith Merrow's channel? WHAT'S GOING ON!? Nah, just kidding. This is really great!
very very cool playing !!!!!!!
So......did you lower the bridge to get an action that supports that kind of riffing? I've got one and the action was too high for me to do scales above the 7th fret with out some work.
Righteous licks bud
Sounds killer!
Amazing!
The first beat is sick - sick... in a good way... (foot can´t stop tapping)
you rule dude !! THIS IS FUCKING AMAZIIIIIING :D I love it !
Who the fuck would dislike this.... wtf
+Alda Gunnarsdóttir He's got the skill for sure, but I can tell that this isn't really his style.
+DistortedFaiths "Not his style." He wrote the song and it's on his album. That's exactly his style.
+Alda Gunnarsdóttir I would think they are disliking the guitar, as it is a guitar review.
Good job judging him on his appearance, fascist.
sensational playing! that snappy hybrid picking would be perfect for reviewing a Telecaster and a tube amp.. Not exactly useful to realize how a folk guitar sounds, but it still remains sensational playin
this is just amazing was he playing an actual song in the begging or just messing around with scales if so how can I download this???
+Seth O'Quinn The tune is called Sandmonster and is on his second album. Shoot Nick a message on facebook or the likes and he usually has signed physical copies for sale, or you can buy it digitally from his website i suspect :)
awesome thank you Nikolaj
+Seth O'Quinn only mozart could compose that well instantly
Rafael Q. Agreed!
+Rafael Q. Have you seen some of his other demo and lick videos? Dude knows what he's doing. I wouldn't be surprised if he could.
On 🔥 😮
That guy is a beast.
What song is he playing at 3:02?
Those A and L series Yamaha guitars are all pretty awesome for the money \m/
That Yamaha includes this fucking awesome talent to play?
Hi , I wont an advise ? I bought a Yamaha FG340T , I wont to add pickup ? Which one suite this guitar ? LR bags , or fishman, or ,,,?
This is awesome!!!
simply.. wow
Played today with an A3R and sounded amazing. Played smoothly and feelt very well built.
What's the difference between A3R and AC3R????
+Francesco Bortolussi AC3R is concert body, A3R is full size dread(with the cutaway)
goals.
hey man, do you like guthrie govan? i could hear some of his signature licks from ya
Guys from the start till 1:21 what the name of the song or whatever?
Sandmonster
oh so sweet
WOW... Is there anywhere where you may have "penned" the tab for this session??
Nick's playing is amazing, as usual. However, the Yamaha AC3R sounds synthetic. Nothing beats a well-placed mic for recording an acoustic guitar.
how does it sound unplugged ?
that guitar sounds amazing! now i know which two i'm buying.. Taylor 614ce and Yamaha AC3R xD :)
THIS IS SO AMAZING UP TO 1:24
Muito bom esse violão gostei nota 10
perfeito cara ..onde tem video aula dessa musica ?
Who the hell thumbs downed this?! EPIC BRO!
Makes me want to discover more acoustic guitar oriented music.
This kind of an offtop question but did you apply any treatment to your walls to reduce the amount of sound pressure received in the adjacents rooms? I would like to isolate my room a bit as the walls let pass a lot.
Yeah thanks man :)
i like how hes fiddling with the mic pickup settings and it has little to none effect on his tone or sound :D
that's the sound of his fingers mate.. regardless of any setting :-)
Awesome
Cool!
Amazing playing, Nick
This... Is... Completely AWESOME! I am fucking shocked!
Reminds me of a young Pride & Glory Zakk Wylde
I'd really like to have the tabs for the stuff starting at 4:06 ...
guitar sounds nice but i definitely prefer what he used on the original recording. i think it was his friends martin? either way this does sound nice.
Man what is this song called it's like reinventing everything I know about spanish style songs
SLebew Yamaha AC3R is The bEst..warm..sound
that was nice:) enjoyed
what is this style of playing called?
+The Dyzemeister It's flamenco-ish, to me at least.
+The Dyzemeister hybrid picking
Monstruo!!!
whats the song in the beginning?
That thing he is playing at 3:00 minutes in, does someone knwo what that is?
Nice
wow!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
The only Yamaha item I own is my weekend motorcycle lol can’t decide on whether to get the most expensive Yamaha ac5 or a Taylor 214ce Koa Deluxe. Please help D:
How is the acoustic sound?
Was this at all inspired by Gord Olson's video?
Holy fuck. I need tab for this song right now :D
+Ale Xander same tho

+Nizar Welhazi
zlatko.radovic@gmail.com

Very nice bros =)
idol!
how much is it & where can i get one???
Dude no kidding. I rode a Yama r6 for a year. I had no clue the same people that made my bike made instruments. Yamaha ftw!
wtf the guy killed the guitar not reviewed it mad respect
I'd buy 2 if it comes with the skills.
Mad shreddies
Somebody got the chords to the second guitar of the first song?
Incredible
#goals
OHHH the skill
Anyone know the scales he's playing?
+Austin B If anyone wants to know, he is playing the Spanish Gypsy scale/ Jewish guitar scale in Ab
+Austin B Phrygian Dominant i think.
Fast tone told name please.
Right after Nick demo this guitar, the guitar price went up 3x.
In Brasil the price is r$20.000
+Victor Peixoto doesn/t that make it like $5,000 USD? This is like a $900 guitar in USD.
@@DailyPragmatismtaxes my friend
Does that first song have a name? 😕
What song
Sandmonster - Nick Johnston
oh man I'm so jealous!!! Work harder, self!
+karla faye Guitar is easy to play when it comes to chords, but you still have to play the normal guitar steps to play.
yeah chords are pretty easy... it's the notes I'mlearning now
karla faye The only problem is, switching between chords is pretty hard... Practice...
this guitar sound good, but you need a really slim finger to play it, it has a very thin nut and string are so close to each others
Song? Chords?
+Chris Higgins lmao.
+Chris Higgins sandmonster
what is that first song holy shit
+Thariq Azmi sandmonster
+Pieter-Jan Noë thanks dude
Grandpa's guitars ...
