I have been looking for an instructive and informative site and this has been wonderful. So love the Steam Trains too. Thank you so much for sharing. Best wishes from Australia
I was looking for material to make static grass. I had an old sheet of MDF that had been laying out in the weather for about 18 months. The edges were very furry. I cut the fur off and whizzed it up in my little coffee grinder, added a drop of artist's acrylic, whizzed it again to spread the colour. When it dried I whizzed it again to break it up and I had excellent static grass at no cost except for the small amount of acrylics used.
Was the grass you made electrostatic so that you could use it with a static grass applicator or did you have to add it by hand and make it stand up with a hoover?
@@ModelSceneryTutorials It was applied with a static grass applicator and needed no further work other than sucking up excess which can be lightly brushed away with a soft brush if desired. My applicator was DIY made from handle of electronic fly swatter.
Even bits of MDF that are not fully furry but layers that are separating can be broken into small pieces and the coffee grinder will turn these onto fluff very quickly. The fibres are of random lengths so it does not look all the same height. The general height is about 2-3mm.
