Gavin, as I mentioned, I Raced Schumacher in the late 80's... I DO remember what a PAIN in the Arse they are to assemble!! 😖 I still remember it fondly. The Shock Oil - 45w FRONT, 35 weight Rear. The Rear is Sprung heavier to compensate for the weight bias. The Front likes thicker Oil, like most Buggies. Reason - the Shocks have less overall travel than the Rear. The extra Damping helps. 😉 *I'm GETTING one of these!!* Don't know how, but it's something I have to relive. Happy New DECADE! 🎉🍻🎉🍺🍹🍻 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Thanks for the shock oil info. I will swap the oil out. Don’t let me put you off, once it’s built the buggy is epic and I’m chuffed to own one I built myself. 👍🏻
I don't remember either my Shumachers being hard to assemble, different, for sure. But my RC10 kicked both their butts. They were more on par with the Losi. Good on soft stuff.
So tip of the day is if l buy a Cat get one already built!! Remember your 2 hour Grasshopper build lol but then you can't expect a world champion build to be a walk in the park! Great vid again Gavin and go and make the mrs a cup of tea to make up for the spilt paint!👍
@@RCKickschannel l think to be honest if l had the funds l would put myself through the painful looking build it's one of a kind for sure! I will get the Cat sometime in the future but l have a few cheaper tamiyas on my radar this year! Damn this hobby it will bankrupt me!!
Sounds very much like this was mostly hard work vs precious little joy. Thank you for sharing the experience though. I think I’ll be sticking with Kyosho for the time being :-)
@@RCKickschannel when I had my original I fitted a technigold in it, with 7.2 nicad. But you can fit a 17T in the standard transmission. So maybe that or 19T with a hobbywing 1060 & 2S lipo. 👍
My Cat XLS runs normal in reverse under load, but goes extremely slow forward under load. It sounds like something is slipping. When the car is elevated with the wheels off the ground, it runs normal in both forward and reverse. Could it be a loose belt? Or could it be a loose ball differential? I am thinking it is probably not the ball diff, because that could cause it to go slow in both forward and reverse. I am running a 17th brushless motor with a 2S Lipo. Help, anyone?
I wouldn’t know on the cat but it also depends on the oils you are using I would go a weight less in the rear than the front so say 45 in the front and 40 in the rear.
Yes, lighter oil in the rear. Oil viscosity is only responsible for how fast the piston can move thru it(Bound and rebound) Where as the spring rate is responsible for actually holding the weight of the vehicle.
Okay trying to be nice I like the car sort of I don't like how it's put together it looks like a fortune cookie what's my fortune Gavin I like how you did the details on how it's a champion looks like you need to sell the cat and get a lion LOL just kidding it's about time you did the cat are you going to put brushless power in it lions Roar I enjoyed the music and the whole theme it's really cool I like the springs and shocks looks sturdy bling bling was that the wife funny bro cartoony vibes my favorite channel u never know what's going to happen in the next episode to be continued the way u paint is like a cat marking his territory lol next time get the paint on the rc instead of every where I'm watching Godzilla good timing living my best life happy new year
Shotgun main camera microphone is fine, its the voice overlay microphone on my Mac that for some reason gives me issues. The USB Microphone is a really good one ( Kingston Hyper) but for some reason I have issues with amplification in the software.

Yep I would agree, if you are not bothered experiencing the build just get a built one and save yourself the hassle.

Nice looking car, next build for me.

I've recently built this kit and it was a different experience, I enjoyed it though! xD
I have an original bosscat. Still runs and now that the new xls is out parts are easier to come across.
What's the purple buggy four down on your right. Think I'll get more experienced before tackling this.
Hi RCkicks., can you tell me where are these Schumacher CAt XLS kits made? In UK, China or Japan ??? Do you know?
UK 🇬🇧
Wife sounded pissed!
where do you get those nice little stands for your cars ...? I made a couple but your's look very professional...

@ 7:56... OMG !!! Hi hi hi...
What spec are you doing with motor, esc etc
I’m not sure yet as it goes, any idea what would be a good match from the brushed camp?

Ball diffs needs adjusting or the ESC needs setting
Shock oils you usually go softer on the rear than the front
Really? Anyone know what’s the best to fit in the XLS

You've been told....
It's so weird to think that Tamiya thought the Avante or Egress could compete with this stuff.

Please find a Traxxas TRX-1
you should invest in a better mic, sounds like you sit in a box... keep up the good work:-)

@@RCKickschannel sorry if i came out as a "negative nancy" i understand that sound can be a difficult issue:-)
Haha busted.... you might be waiting a while for a sunny day.. but hopefully it won’t rain for a few days now...
