    I like these COMEDY GOLD dubs. The audio quality is great,, the volume is consistent and the picture is very clear. You can see that Gene went back to a lighter shade of hair here, compared to a week and a half ago.😄

    Gene: What can we do in 20 seconds?
    Brett: The same thing you used to do in 20 minutes
    Betty: What are you going to do with extra 10 seconds?
    hahahahah

    Glad to hear that Charles and Gene pronounce Nevada correctly as in nevahhda I've heard so many people pronounce it nevaaada that is SOOO wrong. Once again more inconsistencies from the judges since hanging is not the same as STRANGLING

    Difference between then and now...today, you couldn't get away with the "Fat Freddie" question because there would be someone complaining that they were offended!

    • @40bpaula
      @40bpaula 3 года назад +5

      Alot of the questions on this show would be flagged by someone. People don't have the same sense of humor today as back then. things change. We're in the time of bullying that can lead to suicide or people shooting up schools and post offices, etc. To me, the Fat Freddie joke wasn't that bad. I've heard worse these days.

      Yes, today someone would find the 'Fat Freddy' question. And I was going to say, "And you know, that's really just fine" -- but it doesn't even have to be fine. It just has to NOT be a good-enough reason for anyone to conduct themselves in public like someone who's being constantly attacked by ballot-box-stuffing illegal immigrants.

    I sometimes can`t help but think that Gene and Charles are not the best of celeb buddies the way they keep trading gentle barbs with each other. But I also think Charles is a bit overly sensitive.

    • @themermaidstale5008
      @themermaidstale5008 3 года назад +4

      I just read about Gene Rayburn on Wikipedia and that Charles was a stand-in a at one point during Gene’s stage career. The article about him also discussed how Match Game changed its format from the 60s version and remarked about “funnier and more risqué questions”.

    • @pencils812
      @pencils812 2 года назад +3

      Gene was the one who got Charles on the show. Charles pretended to be sensitive about the jokes sometimes, and I'm sure they remained close. When Gene made a MG come back in the 80s, Charles returned but Brett didn't.

      Doing ten shows over two days could wear on anyone. I wonder if the show would've been funnier if Charles had been in the first seat. Brett's constant talking over people and silly answer took away some of the Lustre from Charles time.

    Rare case of Richard not having a solid answer for the Audience Match, but then none of the answers really worked..."Whip and....."????

    • @kevansf
      @kevansf 10 месяцев назад +3

      I guess it depends on how you define "rare," but here are the times Richard was chosen to give the first suggestion and he gave an answer that wasn't on the audience match board. (I only started noting these with episode 900 because I'd gotten tired of hearing Richard berating contestants for not choosing his suggestion.)
      Episodes 901, 902, 906, 911, 914, 921, 923, 927, 949, 975, 977, 978, 980, 981, 989, 997, 1004, 1005, 1013, 1040, 1077, 1079, 1086, 1089, 1104, 1106, 1111, 1114, 1115, 1122, 1124, 1137, 1141, 1151, 1157
      (This doesn't count all the times he was chosen second or third and gave a clunker; these are the only the times when he was chosen first.)

    H/H match update:
    ...
    ~~~Today's action:
    I predict the champion won't match all five remaining celebs to achieve a tie. This isn't one of those questions with an obvious answer. I wonder who today's "villainess" will be... Right off the bat, it's Avery. I agree with the judges: "kissing" is not the same as "making love." (It actually looks like she didn't match any of the celebs.) This champion had won only a single game, but it was a good one! She pocketed $5,600 in prize money.
    *Today's audience match question: "Whip and________"*
    (My thoughts: Chair, Chill, ???) - The last few months some of these have been really tough!
    The celebs: Richard (Buggy), Betty (Chair), Brett (Chain)
    The choice: Chain
    The answers: Chair, Chain, Chill
    Not bad. She picked the best possible suggestion that was offered to her. And $250 isn't bad lately, considering there were three total fails with the audience match just last week.
    Now on to the H/H. I imagine she'll choose Richard even though she took Brett's suggestion for the audience match.
    "Richard for a change." Ha! Gotta love her wit! This is now King Richard's 26th consecutive H/H attempt.
    Stats: Richard has matched 136 of his 313 most recent attempts (43.5%), 75 of his last 173 attempts (43.4%), 56 of his last 129 attempts (43.4%), 28 of his past 65 attempts (43.1%), and 14 of his past 38 attempts (36.8%). His overall success rate is *42.3%* and this is his 791st attempt so far.
    For the sake of comparison: Betty has matched 19 of her 38 attempts (50.0%), Charles has matched 34 of his 70 attempts (48.6%), Richard has matched 334 of his 790 attempts (42.3%), and Brett has matched 30 of her 71 attempts (42.3%). Neither Avery Schreiber nor Barbara Rhoades has yet answered a H/H question.
    *Today's H/H question: "Front________"*
    (Door popped into my head immediately, so I'll stick with that. But front yard sounds good too. Front and back. Front and center. Front end. Front of the line. Several reasonable answers today.)
    Richard also finds immediate inspiration. He begins writing immediately and although he glances at Betty, he shows no hesitation when it comes to filing his answer.
    The new champion is ready and gives the predicted answer. The audience loves it as much as I do.
    It's unanimous.
    Richard scores his 335th H/H match today.
    ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy:
    (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.)
    (For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.)
    Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts).
    Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts).
    Charles - 48.6% (34 wins in 70 attempts).
    Fannie - 48.5% (16 wins in 33 attempts).
    (*)Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts).
    Richard - 42.4% (335 wins in 791 attempts).
    Brett - 42.3% (30 wins in 71 attempts).
    Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts).
    *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1157, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. *Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. (These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. Note: There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036.)
