got the Gemini live voice on my LG V60 phone (U.S. here), as a regular app update, and it is quite good.. (besides Gemini Advanced being the weakest LLM among the big boys lineup). At least they delivered on this, as opposed to OpenAI.
I'm a university math professor using Google's NotebookLM to make open-source math textbooks more interactive for my students. I link it to the online textbook website rather than just uploading a pdf textbook because the website has the LaTex math type which allows the llm to read everything much better. The non-perfect nature of current llms is actually great because my students will need to recognize when smooth sounding arguments are logically incorrect. AI in education is going to be big. Sorry, another comment as I watch this, but I work in the disability sector and tailored learning programs has got to be the best thing that AI can deliver. Actually life changing stuff.
Anthropic definately collecting data/chats on how people are actually using their model to make Opus blow every other company out of the water. As much as im hyped for the fine tunes of LLama 3 and GPT4o voice mode, i just dont think there are going to compare.
educators can't get their head around this. if you want to take advantage of this you need to take your kid out of school and home school them. there are too many vested interests in the current set up for AI to change how it works. Yup, school / uni are now pretty much last rites if you're willing to be independent.
