    All good advice. I'd like to be able to afford the refractometer but I should definitely get some of those gloves! I wish that mixer attachment was available where I live ...

    Hi, I've been looking for a mixing paddle for pre mash as well as to aerate the wort. I can't seem to find the kegland one you mention on their site or BrewKegTap. Any ideas where to get one? Thanks

      This item is:- Premium Stainless Steel Drill Powered Mash Stirrer & Mixer - 1/4 Inch Hex Drive
      SKU: KL32247
      I suggest emailing Brewtapkeg, The Malt miller and Angel homebrew if you cannot find it on their websites. They are all importing Kegland products.

    Hi David, how would you compare BeerSmith to BrewFather?

    • @DavidHeathHomebrew
      @DavidHeathHomebrew  3 месяца назад +1

      In brief, I used BeerSmith for many years before switching to BrewFather. So at that time I had paid for both, I liked Brewfather that much. Since then I have not looked back. Try the free trial and see what you think 🍻🍻

    Good info; Being prepared in time is "half the brew" 🍺
    Any news on Jaded chillers in Europe - I believe there was talks about a European distributor?
    Buying in the US will add almost the same amount in freight as the chiller costs.

      For sure 🍻🍻
      There are some home brew stores in Europe that stock Jaded brewing chillers but naturally the export will add extra cost, just not as much as singles.

    Nice video as always David!
    I picked up the wooden paddle for my Brewzilla Gen4 because I didn´t want to scratch the inside of the machine with stainless steel paddles as I always stir during the mash. However whenever I watch your videos I see you stir only during mash-in, is that correct?
    Also I was wondering what fermenter you are using, do you also rotate those?

    • @DavidHeathHomebrew
      @DavidHeathHomebrew  3 месяца назад +1

      Thank you.
      Yes, as long as you have recirculation then unless something goes very wrong then there is no need to stir further.

    • @DavidHeathHomebrew
      @DavidHeathHomebrew  3 месяца назад +2

      Fermenter wise I have quite afew from Frrmzilla, GF Conical, Brewbuilt and more. It varies in terms of use. I will in the future release a fermentation version of this video.

      @@DavidHeathHomebrew Do you find the keg/spunding valve is a go to for any particular styles?

    • @DavidHeathHomebrew
      @DavidHeathHomebrew  3 месяца назад +1

      It can be used for all styles. Just have no pressure for styles where the yeasts flavour and aroma is required for the first 4 days.

    Do you do whirlpools after boiling? I was under the assumption that is was a smart and beneficial thing to do, but when you use an immersion cooler to cool the hot wort and also start stirring, I guess the whole whirlpooling is made useless right?

    • @DavidHeathHomebrew
      @DavidHeathHomebrew  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes, the wp comes after the boil.
      These days I simply do a hop stand if needed as most of my systems have a false bottom. If you just have a filter then its worthwith but then you would do it after the hop stand if part of the recipe.

    • @soundwave070
      @soundwave070 3 месяца назад +1

      @@DavidHeathHomebrew I have a brewmonk b40, a whirlpool arm and an immersion cooler. If my recipe does not specify a hopstand. Would you still suggest to do a whirpool for a certain amount of time and after that put in the immersion cooler to get it to 20c? Or should I just skip it? I thought my cooler would probably disturb the trub cone anyway, but to be honest maybe the picture I have in my mind of that trub is not the same as what it really is.

    • @DavidHeathHomebrew
      @DavidHeathHomebrew  3 месяца назад

      @soundwave070 If you are having transfer issues the a wp could help, especially if you do the stirring or use a drill. By hand a few minutes is really a minimum but with a drill you can cut that in half easily.

    PH meter? and why no? It is essential for me, especially after 15 to 20 min. after soaking grainbill in strike water to determine my ph during mashing.

    Water, you can have the best of equipment and processes but if your water isn't right then neither will your end product.

    AIO systems have moved on massively, I suspect many brewers moving from kit brewing are going straight to AIO and skipping part grain completely.
