I think it should be compulsory all children playing with these should wear eye protection and all pets banned from the room, getting hit in the eye with a plastic or metal bottle cap could cause serious damage.
I think Matthias has done something that he think he must punish himself for. The only thing he could do to add some more punishment into it is to add a phaser sound effect. :-)
If you position the anchors for the rubber bands asymmetrically, this will give the projectile spin, which will increase the thrown-cap's stability and length of flight.
@@Stevenpwalsh he had a video several years ago where there was some outdoor project (maybe a shed raising) where he had friends over and they imbibed in adult beverages afterwards. That being said, he doesn't seem the "hold my beer" type (it always seems like it goes before something rather reckless and not well thought out which is the antithesis of Matthias)...though I do love the "(and get my slippers)" part. That fits very well!
About four years ago I started saving milk bottle caps. The idea was to melt them into blocks of HDPE as seen on RUclips. My wife told me I was nuts, and would never get around to it. Well... she was right, but now I have a great supply of ammunition, so she had better keep her head down! :o) Thanks, as always.
Quick tip. Glue and then put a dab of salt on the glue before clamping. This keeps the parts from sliding as the salt digs into the wood. Also, it will confuse your significant other to see a salt shaker in the wood shop. Lol
Good stuff Matthias nothing beats home made toys. I remember playing with a freighter my pop made for me out of a four foot 4"x6" beam as well wooden trucks and a bull dozer. Thumbs up.
Those are just great. Had a rubber band six shooter when I was a kid and had a blast just shooting the bands, this is soo much better! Thanks for the video.
Your child playing with a wooden catapult next to the wooden table sat on your wooden floor. When you only have a hammer in your toolbox, everything looks like a nail! This comment said with love from a long time admirer.
Çok güzel bir tasarım ve uygulama olmuş, Yapım PLANI için teşekkür ederim, Aboneniz oldum, iyi akşamlar It has been a very nice design and application, thank you for the PLAN of construction, I am your subscriber, good evening
My brother and I made a much simpler version when we were kids, it was more of a rifle. It was just a long piece of wood, clothes pin glued on one end and nail on other end for rubber band. We used metal bottle caps from coke bottles for ammo. Don’t remember who taught us to make them.
An arm’s length of 2x4 with a nail driven nearly all the way through the front end, a clothes peg nailed through its spring to the top near its back side. Then we extracted a spring from another clothes peg, and attached a rubber band to it. This was the projectile. We would attach the rubber band around the nail at the front, and attach the spring to the clothes peg on top, then aim, and squeeze the clothes peg to set the projectile free. Them were the good old days, arrr!!!
Oh boy...I remember well those plastic disc shooters from when I was a small boy; my brothers and I found you could launch a penny just as well as the disc. Too bad the Nerf Nitron discs aren't around anymore, this would work great!
Possibly you could get more range and perhaps accuracy if you could get the cap to spin (think frisbee). I am thinking a short strip of sandpaper or rubber on one side of the launch track near the "muzzle" would cause the cap to rotate as it left the pi$t0l. This is definitely going on my list of things to make when I get a round2it. Well done! Cheers
Мужик у тебя реально руки откуда нужно растут... А так... Я вот столкнулся, что есть лес ценных пород а распустить не на чем... Повторил твою ленточную пилу и получилось обшить баню... Спасибо за идею...
I predict that 2020 will be the year of the dented walls at the Wandel residence... looks like great fun though :-)
Hide the wine glasses! :o)

I came looking for the Safety Sally messages. One thread in and there she is.

@@Josef_R Glad you weren't dissapointed but I don't think they can do eye transplants yet and a pair of safety glasses is only 3 or 4 bucks
Could you make it a little stronger to shoot hockey pucks? You know, for tougher children.
or maybe hubcaps....for the inner city kids...😂
I’m sorry to inform you, but Spartans have been extinct for quite awhile now
or manhole covers for military
That's more Joerg's (the slingshot channel) territory...
Or WiFi Access points, for wealthy computer scientists.
If you position the anchors for the rubber bands asymmetrically, this will give the projectile spin, which will increase the thrown-cap's stability and length of flight.
That sounds very plausible. I didnt think of it. Needs some tests though. For the next video lol
i think if you just put some silcone rubber on one side of the track, it would also cause spin
@@peetre That might work just as well.
I believe it would most likely work like a curve ball... For stabilization you would need the spin to be around the direction of movement.
or... glue a 600 sandpaper on one side, and soap or silicone lubricant on the other
I love watching you make tools and whatnot, but there's something special about watching you build toys :)
I love the “handheld cap launching mechanism”😆
Certain words trigger the weak minded, these days.
Dosbomber
I think claiming that RUclips’s filtering algorithm has a mind is overly generous.
Mattias son: Dad i want a gun
Mattias: hold my beer (and get my slippers)
I might be a bit presumptuous here, but Mattias strikes me as a root beer kind of guy.

...And then youtube demonitizes the video... XD
Matthias would only ever say "hold my beer" once, while he built a device to hold his beer for him while he worked.
Matthias, was great to see your kids playing with them. Nice build!
1:09 "I haven't actually given this any thought"
*Has complete solution ready to implement*
This reminds me of the Slingshot-Channel.
And both of them are German...

For the man who has everything: a plastic cap shooter
can you make one with a magazine?
Not if the atf has anything to say about it
Classic Matthias, plans and all. Good to have you back
"Let me show you it´s features!"
A fellow man of culture I see
Very elegantly designed!

"Launcher" might have been the least bad choice for not angering the robot overlords. Very cool as always.
Taofledermaus calls his a "mass accelerator."
its zionist not robot
This is to cool Matthias, when I was a kid in the 60s we made a primitive version of this and used bottle caps to sling.
Nice, it looks like something that some kids could build as a project with their parents.
Good to see Matthias back in the zone
All of the neighborhood kids are going to be so jealous when they see those.
Great job, your kids are going to have a blast
daddy Wandel is clearly a fun dad. That or, i have a seriously warped sense of fun!
i seen all your video and start my work as hobby 2 years ago ,,,,,,,you are the best,,,,,,,you are Genius.
Just in time for the holidays!! Thanks Matthias!!
Reminds me of "No Ralphie you'll put your eye out".
You beat me to it!
"I want an official Matthias Wandel rubber band action plastic cap shooting pist*l!"
reminds me of a board game, Crossbows and Catapults. Had little disc launcher that operate very similar. Brings back good memories.
You never cease to amaze! Awesome work as always!
glad you're still making vids once in a while
Clever, simple, & inexpensive. Well done!
Thanks for sharing.
i love your channel for the pure skill and ingenuity even though I know I'll never make anything you do because it's wayyyy beyond my skill level
Wow you have the patience of a saint with multiple pieces of those tiny triggers! Newbie sub here
And when the kids are bit older Matthias will build the catapults. Awesome video!
Excellent video and process
Thank you for sharing
I wish you much success with your cool bottle top shooter.
This channel makes me happy.
I enjoy all your videos very much but I especially enjoyed this one. Thanks for the exceptional content!
Mathias, you are a genius!
Nice work on the cap shooter
What a cool project! Now they just need a coat of signature green.
Insanely awesome. How fun is this! Now you could design a top loaded "clip/magazine".....
Now I am in the proper mood for Christmas.
Those look like they are JUST about the perfect size to fire "two bite brownies". See, they're not weapons, they're feeding devices!
That's a cool project! I think I'll try to make one that fits 1 gallon milk jug caps since that's what we have most.
Wonderful video Matthias
Next week:
"How to make armor for yourself because your kids are shooting at you
super cool. i wonder if a future version could put a spin on the caps to make them fly stable...
Awesome parenting on display... Allways be the biggest kid 🤘will build that with my kids too. very, cool idea.
Legos and fireworks tought me everything I know
Didn't expect you here.
And the "Coolest Dad Ever" Award goes to ..........
Great project, and I imagine the kids will love them!

From wooden clockwork to wooden gunsmithing, Matthias is so awesome. But can he make one of these in semi-auto? Haha.

Happy new year and here is a plastic bottle cap right in the munch-kin...
As always ingenious work by Matthias - I'm thinking though - you might also have to include some home-made eye protection with the gifts :-)
Wait...did you have a motion tracker set on the launcher at 0:04? That's brilliant :)
Yes, it was programmed to shoot at the helmet. Made a video about that a while back
First time checking out your channel dude and I already like it you rock man 😎
Gonna have to build a robot to pick up all the caps lol 😂
What a Christmas present! when they pull it out of the wrapping you say something fancy and shoot at them before they have a chance and then it's war
looks lots of fun for the kiddos
Ill be buying those plans.
How do you like that 20" bandsaw Matthias, is it your favourite design so far? (It's my favourite of your various bandsaw designs). Cheers, Craig

And so starts the Canadian militia! ;-)
I love the playfulness! Too bad for the Christmas gift spoilers ...

As a father of two, I will guess: probably before this video was finished uploading.
