"Invisibility powers are cool because the enemies can't see you and you become invisible" - Rurikhan :D But seriously, good review. Going to get this next month I think, still playing through BioMutant.
I really love your reviews Rurikhan. The way you give your thoughts on the features, sound, art style, and more. It really is the whole package. Thanks I will definitely check this out because of how well you give us the gist of the game
I sort of like the insane interactions like you say "Hi..." and the bystander you're addressing just leaps in to "I like Tiger, he is more loyal than Panda but I can not find a poster of Tiger!" and I'm like "...ah, good afternoon?" And I love the insane enemies like a sexy corset with long thighs that turn in to goat legs and pretty blooming flowers for a head... it's as if I must have made my omelette with the wrong kind of mushrooms. Or the right kind.
Fell in love with the combat after playing the demo today, I’m just wondering how different the two stories are actually going to be, because if their both pretty similar that can kill the replay ability of the game.
I actually have been pretty excited about this game since I saw a trailer for it a year ago. Hopefully this game will be a hidden gem and we’ll get more anime games like this down the line.
@@rurikhan Haha, I kid :) Sorry, you are right. I’m glad that I picked up the game. I haven’t finished it yet but I like that you get the chance to know characters a bit better in these bond missions. Really takes the characters to another level beyond just being tools to defeat monsters. They give cool hints towards the story as well. Seems like plenty of recent JRPGs are into this idea too which I really like.
Getting major astral chains vibes from this one from both the visuals and the story. Might pass up on Scarlet Nexus for now tbh as I found Astral Chain wasn't for me.
Yeah same, I played Astral Chain and didn't it, bought it day 1 because I thought it looked fun from watching videos but when I was actually playing it I didn't enjoy it at all. I tried the Scarlet Nexus demo 3 times and I gotta say I enjoyed way more than Astral Chain and I just pre-ordered it today. Try the demo you might enjoy it
“I don’t think your going to be able to pick a Waifu” *Oh Rurikhan, where’s there’s a will there’s a way* Edit: it’s a fucking joke people calm tf down, sad I gotta make this clear.
Got it preordered and excited to get it on Friday. In the meantime though i'm playing Ender Lillies Quietus of the Knight on my Switch (which just released on Tuesday) which is a 2D Souls like game similar to Salt and Sanctuary. Really having fun with it and hoping to get it done before i pick up Scarlet Nexus (should be possible as the devs said the full release would have 8 areas in total, thus 8 area bosses and i beat 5 of them and am already at the 6th). And ya the game's (Ender Lillies) Brutal just like most Souls games the further you get into the game (starts off easy but all enemies get stronger with each Area (main) boss you beat). Visuals remind me of Vanillaware developed games (Odin Sphere, Dragon's Crown, 13 Sentinels, etc) and the music is great (definitely fits the game's atmosphere). The story's mainly told via flashbacks, random notes/item descriptions, and a few cutscenes with dialogue by other characters (the main character, Lily, is a mute MC like Link). As for combat Lily doesn't fight herself but summons Spirits with one of 3 face buttons and you get many spirits in the game (you get 1 default spirit and then all other spirits you get after you beat their boss counterpart. Note each sprit has a number of uses so you need to be careful you're aware of how many uses they have (though the default and some others have infinite uses) and you regain uses either by going to rest points or attacking red flowers (you get heals back this way too though for Heals you need to break white flowers instead of red, resting restores both though)). And ya there's my short Ender Lillies review segment/shilling to try to get more sales for the game since for an Indie dev the open week sales are incredibly important lol. Now going back to Scarlet Nexus definitely going Eng Dub due to the whole characters talking during combat making it too incovenient to read while fighting...for action games if there's a dub i prefer the dub. Turn based i'll go with either or but if an action game has a dub i always pick it... the few i don't go Eng dub are the ones without any eng dubs at all (so Tokyo Xanadu). As for my first run i'll be doing Yuito since between the 2 protags Kasane's story, from the trailers, seem to be more likely to have more lore revelations early on than Yuito's. If there's one thing i'm kinda disappointed with it's the fact you can't play as the other party members in each of the protag's team since some look really fun to play but i can kinda understand it since it seems like combat really focuses on taking advantage of the MCs' Psychokinesis superpower. More likely than not i'll be playing SN all the way up to Tales of Arise's release in Sepetmber since i'll be doing both MC's story back to back for the full experience.
I'm having a blast so far, 10 hours in and damn! its great! All in all the game is great, i just wish the sidequests were better done, the way they are now u can easy miss the enemies need for slaying quests since u have to select the right quest, if u don't have it activated u can just it outright... I do love the SAS system, couse u it makes for fun combinations that u experiment with, like using 2 powers at once to blow enemies at once. And Ruri, u can see the quests on the area map,so when in the city, just check the map and they are marked.(Square symbol) And God Eater 3 and Code Vein felt like they were pretty much abandoned(especially GE3)once they were out of the door with only adding minimal content, wich was a big shame. I did hear that the Director of the game did some of the Tale Of games so that probably explains the great story and better quality overall.
I played through the demo and it convinced me to buy the game. I just wish the narrative wasn't so cringy (I'm serious, it makes Code Vein look like high art by comparison), and I wish the exploration soundtrack didn't sound like shopping mall music.
I really want to play it. Liked the demo. However, I don't finish my games lately so I'm forcing myself to wait. (Still need to beat Astral Chain for one example, and several more in the same style)
Idk why but I giggle when people who have no idea how to speak Japanese try to convince other non Japanese speakers that they can, in any meaningful way, determine the Japanese voice acting is superior.
It's a matter of sounding pleasant. As a non-native speaker I can tell that English is quite unpleasant language to hear in general. German is even worse. Japanese on the other hand is much nicer to ears.
My advice is go into this game with an open mind, don't compare it to anything else while playing or youll get frustrated. It's not like code vein, its not like tales, and its not like devil may cry if you try to compare it to their mechanics youll fall into the trap of treating it like one of those games and get frustrated playing it wrong. Play it for what it is.
I've watched most of the reviews that are up on RUclips and seems like it'll be between 25-40ish hours. 25 if you play only one of the characters but to get the full story and context you need to do new game + and play the other one which can double the play time
I have a question about the gameplay, I have like old man reflexes and is the game friendly to bad old man reflexes? Cos I'd love to play this game but if it's like code vein or monster hunter world I'd have to give up cos my reflexes are about the same as an 70yr old's trying to game on pc with keyboard and mouse
I'm playing it on hard and it's not overly difficult, so playing on normal or easy should be manageable if you struggle with reflexes, and you can change the difficulty as you play, so you're not locked in.
I paid no attention to this game until the demo dropped. Combat's really fun, but I can tell it's going to be a game where I skip most of the cutscenes. I'll probably get it at some point, just not for $60.
I have been avoiding this game because everything to date looks like a crappy game where you run from one flat arena to the next to fight groups of repetitive enemies. Looking forward to see what you have to say about it. Edit: Pretty much what I thought. Much appreciated, Ruri.
When they try to make the dialogue sound like something ppl would say we hate it cuz it not authentic but when they do keep the dialogue the same for some reason it sounds cringe.
The camera looks bad. A bad camera is one of the worst flaws you could have in a game. If the camera is bad it induces headaches in some people. I have a hard time watching certain parts of the footage. The camera here looks like a significant regression from Code Vein.
Are there circular motions in this game ? For example Back and forth + attack, hold back + attack etc ? I feel like the game is lacking in terms of movelist.
i dont know if he was trying to say that when the english va is on they dont sound japanese? cause the script is the same english or japanese so it will still make no sense even if you have the japanese va
It looks nice and the story seems kinda cool but it's just another hack and slash game, I guess they must be popular because we get so many of them every year but I'm gonna pass on this one.
If only they did better with designing better looking faces. They look like generic anime characters. Specially the main hero… and this is coming from someone who has played anime related rpgs like persona/shin Megami tensei series, nier ect. Perfect dodge with follow up slash or psionic attacks are unlockable skills. Same for double jump, mid-air dodge, and attack after air dodge.
