    Acura is back on track. This new RDX is a step up from previous models. Well done Acura!!! Can’t wait for the next generation for the rest of the models especially the MDX next gen

    I have driven Acuras since 2000, including 3 TLs and 2 RDXs. Until getting the 2019 RDX SH-AWD Tech, my 2008 TL was my favorite car - it handled and cornered fantastically. I was considering changing brands after 18 years of Acuras and read multiple reviews and looked at Lexus, Infiniti, Mercedes and BMW. Once I drove the 2019 RDX it was no contest and I didn't have to spend $50k -$60k to be happy. I did not spring for the Advance or A-Spec (they were not necessary and the only thing I wish I had were the ventilated seats during this hot Summer), but if you are considering this SUV, definitely drive the SH-AWD. It handles like a dream for a luxury SUV of this size and in it's market class. My gas mileage for city driving is about 16 mph and on the highway about 26 mph - and the car is under 3,000 miles and has not even been broken in yet.

    Great review. 14 L/100k...ouch! This whole movement to small turbos is so misleading. On an EPA cycle they never get into the boost so of course the posted mileage is good. In the real world it’s a whole other story. These things suck more gas and pollute more than a smooth effortless V6.

    • @MatrixDiscovery
      @MatrixDiscovery 6 лет назад +3

      It must be the AWD system because the Honda Odyssey with the V6 gets way better miieage without an AWD system.

      Maz Al-Samadi That’s about what I get with my 07 RDX, which is always on boost (combined 12.3L/100 km). Was hoping that Acura had learned its lesson the second time around.

      you don't what you're talking about. I drive mine using "comfort mode" average 21 mpg mixed driving. If u have the shifter on S and sport plus u'll be average 18,19 mpg mixed driving. I owned an 09 rdx ,it was a gas guzzler. The new t 4cyl is more powerful and more economical that both the first rdx turbo and the outgoing v6.

    I really want to complement you. This review was not only very informative but I love the way you film and edit your videos. I also happen to agree with you On virtually all of your comments regarding the Acura RDX Advance trim. One thing I really wish they would’ve included are adaptive headlights. Why did the Canadian models include this and other features (like power folding side view mirrors), and the American models do not? First time I have ever hit the subscribe button on review videos.

    My wife really wants one. It's at the top of our budget though. The only trim I'd want is the A-SPEC, it does look fabulous. I do not like the touchpad/infotainment at all. Having no Android auto out of the box is absolutely ridiculous! I'm hoping the 2020 model will have it. I've read in some forums that the infotainment is laggy and or freezes up totally with some people's RDX's. Absolutely unacceptable in this day and age. I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Sport, with the Uconnect 8.4 with Nav. Too old for Android auto yes, but it's designed so well, it just works great.

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  5 лет назад +1

      I didn’t notice any freezing or lagging on the system but I only drove it for a brief period compared to those that own it. I think you can get use to the touchpad/infotainment just like any other system. The A-Spec is really nice. I like what they’ve done.

    Not a fan of 4 cylinder on high price premium models....They would say that your paying for better appointments, but for me V6/V8 is quieter and make you feel like your getting what you pay for.

      Yes, I want saying that it’s really bad, it’s just not the greatest if you’re into the turbo a lot just like all turbo engines. I also did many short trips which I’m sure killed the mileage.

      I took the lock lug from my old Pilot and install them on my new RDX a Specs. I must tell you that the lug nuts are the same for accord ,pilot .civic ,tl,tlx, mdx etc Mr Diaz , commenting on youtube doesn' t make someone a trained mechanic. What is difference between honda/Acura is engines , transmissions and differentials, 1.5. 2.0,2.4, 3.0,3.2 ,3.5 engines are used in same and different models, the difference is in the computer .For example the MDX, PILOT and Odyssey are equipped with powerful 3.5 engine and yet has difference HP and torque output ,Honda civic Type R share the 2.0 eng with the new RDX ,civic 306hp RdX 272. Ok mi amigo

    Honda Civic 2017 Canadian models (all versions) have the head gasket leak issue. My brother's 2017 Civic touring engine has been rebuilt 2 times already and Honda refused to replace the vehicle or entire engine. But they gave us a 25-year lifetime warranty plus towing for free. The engine stalls and the car stops in the middle of the road when this issue comes up. The dealership agrees that this is a VERY common problem in ALL Honda Civics. I lost my trust on Honda products completely! I even wrote an email to Japan accusing them of not protecting their customers and selling junks and covering up their tracks. No replay from the Honda. I don't want a warranty, I want a reliable car so I don't get stuck in the middle of the Winter! The point of the story is don't buy Hondas and Acuras and expect a great customer service or reliability.

    NOT a fan of the button shifters...WTF Acura/Honda? Work on improving speed and handling and leave the damn shifters alone! I actually want to FEEL what I shift to, not press a button like im in a golf cart
    I feel like they are getting away more from being "one with the car", to all electric/ autonomous driving, not cool
    and the ASPEC RDX is nice, wish it was an option and not a trim level, bc it really doesn't change the DNA up enough to be a trim, imo

    Ok, I was recently in the market for this RDX but couldn't force myself to like it enough to pay close to full MSRP when comparing it to other vehicles out there. It may be a better value than the Lexus NX300 but Lexus holds the best reputation for reliability. We'll just have to see how this Honda/Acura Turbo4 holds up...I woulda bought the Volvo XC40 as it seems like a very solid choice, but they are purposely not producing enough ( only approx. 17,000 units ) trying to create a demand and yet again with all the hype with "premium compact SUVs being the hottest segment" much of this is from these mfrs. trying to do as much as possible to making you believe this. So then I also turned to another direction and looked at the Toyota Highlander with the 295 hp V6. It does 0-60 in approx. 7 seconds. It has much more room. It feels very luxury oriented and equipped. Plus I could get into the Limited trim level for just under $40K. This feels like the best overall value. I chose a luxury roomy ride vs a bit more sporty for a ride. With the several thousand dollars I saved by choosing the Highlander I can afford to start looking to buy a boat. The Highlander hauls 5,000lbs. Sadly this RDX only can handle towing 1,500 lbs, the same weight my ole Toyota RAV4 can tow and that only has a 176hp 4 banger. What gives Acura?? The Lexus NX300 tows 2,000 lbs. The Volvo XC40 can handle 3,000 lbs. Heck, a new Toyota RAV4 Adventure can handle 3,500 lbs. Why are Acura powertrains and/or chassis so weak they cannot handle towing anything exceeding 1,500 lbs, even in last years V6!! Inexcusable IMO for it be any "premium" sport UTILITY vehicle. Ya, I'm glad I made a solid choice with my Highlander. Now to order me up some HID's with the $$$ I saved.

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  6 лет назад +4

      Great comment. The Volvo is interesting. I’ll be testing that one in a few weeks. I also have a new Highlander and yes, it’s great with a lot of utility and features. Not sure how many people tow with a compact crossover/SUV but like yourself, I guess there are those that do. In that case, it would be a no brainer to go with one that has more towing capabilities. For myself, the most is ever tie would be a bike rack. Thanks again for the detailed comment and sharing your experience.

      We got into a 2017 Acadia Limited for $32 or about 25% off MSRP. It is last of the bigger style and basically an Denali minus the embroidered leather seats and shiny exterior trim. It gets 26 mpg at 65 mph.
      For the RDX equivalent we have a 2016 Buick Envision 2.0T with CPO 5 years 60,000 miles bumper to bumper warranty, 100,000 miles on powertrain. It sees 32 mpg @ 65 mph or 18-19 mpg in the city with my wife behind the wheel. These are low $30's new or used with a few thousand miles on it.

    • @senorgato70
      @senorgato70 6 лет назад +4

      Towing capacity is not based solely on engine power. It's based on body structure. The RDX is meant to be a sporty, dynamic-driving lighter vehicle so the body structure wasn't built for hefty towing. And most people investing in an RDX probably don't have towing needs. Your choice of the Highlander clearly indicates your priorities are clearly on the opposite end of what cars like the RDX offer. So, doesn't make the RDX a bad choice. Just makes it not the right choice for your needs.

    • @wrewstervideo
      @wrewstervideo 6 лет назад

      senorgato70 With this mindset than a VW Golf GTI could be the best value. It tows the same 1,500 lbs. and will trounce this RDX in every which way out on the road.

    • @senorgato70
      @senorgato70 6 лет назад

      Forever Metal Actually not really. Yes, probably an RDX and GTI buyer don't have towing needs. However an RDX shopper wants more cargo and passenger room, in addition to AWD and ground clearance. As I stated before, it's about priorities. The only vehicle in the same class as the RDX with a high towing capacity is the Audi Q5 when equipped with the 3.0L V-6 at 4400 pounds.
