Skizz! Towards the end you DO NOT need to move your music disk setups down further. Just add a layer of wool between each floor. Then each floor can have its own pain triggered music disk setup that fits with the theme of that level.
This is what i came here to say. Wool blocks sounds getting to the sensors, so even just wool around all sides except where you want it to come in works
Skizz that intro was DIVINE. i promise you. you're hard on yourself a lot, but i'm telling you, that was absolutely beutiful and sent chills down my spine. i mean the song itself does that, but even if you werent perfectly on key or whatever, you captured the FEELING. and thats important.
I was gonna say the same thing. I listened to the PTX version of the song a few minutes before watching this (which was a fun coincidence) and yes. Chills. And I loved it so much!
Not only a capella, not only an incredibly recognizable song, not only multiple layers of one's own voice, but a song and version that's difficult to perfect even for the trained. And you did it well enough for a copy strike. That takes some Skizzles. Well done, sir.
Loved the intro. And you are now officially better at redstone than I am! BTW, I do not think giving Joel the permit was illegal. You basically made a trade. Lots of hermits have done it. Also doing a partnership wouldn't been illegal either. Several hermits have dual ownership / partnership with some of the permits.
Idea for second layer: The thought is to make the player feel unsafe and unsheltered, right? How about making the player walk a path lined with alternating fence posts and walls, so it creates gaps... Outside of the walls you put hostile mobs... The mobs will be able to see you and track you because of the gaps in the walls... As long as you walk in the middle of the path you're safe, but if you get too close to the edges the mobs will be able to reach you. That would make me feel pretty unsafe at least.
This was my idea as well @mad_maddie! Although I have these additional ideas for Skizz: Name each mob with a label of insecurity and doubt. Also create some animal noises on multiple disc's and do the jukebox calibrated to being hit the same as your other contraptions. Use wool on the bottom and sides of the device to make sure only sounds above the sensor set it off and have a 1 block space below each sensor to eate a waterlogged sensor (it will silence it so the player does not hear skulk sounds and having the one drop below means water does not break the redstone.) Also scatter some containers about with renamed sticks inside. These sticks at the end of the path (which leads to the shelter door) can be used in a puzzle at the end to represent the building of the shelter and comprehension enough to keep and maintain shelter. Renamed sticks (called "Balance" or "Funding" possibly? ) would be used to answer an important question about shelter/belonging in the form of a quantifiable amount. Sample question: "How many beings are responsible for your well-being?" Simple I know but the idea comes across. Then have a hopper for them to put in one stick, which leads to a dropper facing a wooden pressure plate. The pressure plate is next to an iron door. Out one side of the dropper is a comparator facing solid block and 90 degrees off that block is a repeater to redstone dust all the way back to the dropper. This will cause the dropper to spit on the wooden pressure plate and open the door. Just something to think about as I just thought of this and just woke up to your video.
I had to think of an eroding path of some sort. Like a timed jump and run or sand path that's falling away (but that's too hard to do and I'm too late :D)
Seems like a composition claim from Sony owning the lyrics and melody. They seem to claim anything they can get their filthy hands on. Kills me to think how many creative sequences we miss out on because of corporations extracting the most out of the legal system and creators fearing what happens to their channel if they try something artistic.
I really admire your ability to not care whether something is stupid or not and to just go with it! For the record I loved the intro, such a good song. Hopefully we'll get more Skizz singing in the future =)
Skizz, you can use wool with the calibrated sculks sensor to only "listen" in the drowning section so it won't "hear" and react to the lava damage. Wool can be used to block the sounds you don't want it to respond to.
Maybe you can have a couple of shelters along the layer that get more and more advanced, like the first one is a cave and you give them raw meat to eat, then they get to a campsite where they can cook their food on the fire and rest in a tent or something, and then finally they get to the house and can have some luxury items (golden carrots? Armor?) Of course there would be obstacles in between but i think it would be cool to have them as sort of like checkpoints where the players can slow down and take a breather.
Did you ever get the mail by mumbo that was about partnering over the record shop..if not then it may be stuck somewhere in the mail system Spoiler about what was in the mail- He wanted to partner with you. You build the shop and put stock in it and he builds a minigame in it which is dance dance revolution in minecraft
A respawn point is the ultimate safety net in a video game. Last season, Zedaph made a bed that systematically killed him in different ways every time he respawned. There could be a bed that triggers a short death loop? There is also the concept of having a safe place to store food, you could give people golden carrots. Instinctively they will want to store them in their inventory, unless they would die in lava. Then they would want to use a chest, but maybe the chest also is not a safe place for their food.
You could put an Etho Hopper clock on the reset device so that it resets itself after not being activated for a while. Oh, also you can use wool to block off the skulk sensor reception. Just cover the outside of the area with wool to prevent it from picking up noise from there. (I am commenting this regardless of what solution you happen to come up with)
for layer two with shelter, i think the hardships should focus on needing to duck and cover from mobs. as in a lot of the process is finding safe places to shelter yourself from the dangers on your path to the true shelter (the lil bedroom)
Recovering from surgery just now and I’ve been really struggling, this video has been the first thing to make me laugh and smile all week, so much love to you skizz, thank you for being you homiebuddy 💚💚
26:52 Shelter and Security makes me think of food! You could have a puzzle somewhere along the journey where they would need to bonemeal wheat or carrots or something to get food
Related to getting shelter I would think basically any challenge where you get to a safe spot. A maze of skelletons were you need to find safe spots where none of them can hit you. Or something simulating trecking through a snowstorm to find a warm cave, a maze of powdered snow where you need to find the few safe spots with food barrels to regenerate.
Skizz. two things you need. Autocrafters and wool. Autocrafters have red stone strength 1 to 9. Use wool to block the sensor from going off in other areas.
God I love that bloopers are a staple part of your videos. Many of us see them during streams, but it's great that people who only watch main channel videos get to experience them as well.
Skizz! Wool blocks sounds going to skulk sensors! So if you don't want lava hurt sounds triggering the drowning, put wool between the lava box and the drowning area! But thank you for the video, it brought me a big smile and I needed that.
You had me when you were planning and putting this intro together on streams. Now I'm 100% sold. Absolutely wonderful. Skizz you bring an energy to the table that people didn't realize they were missing, and now here you are, and we are all dependent on having you with us.
I just want to say, what you bring to the server is soooo much more than your builds. Your builds are... Of the people... (compliment for sure) but your personality.... That is everything! Keep being you, don't ever aim to be anyone else, we love you Skizz!
First thing that comes to mind with regards to security would be a hallway with dispensers firing volleys of arrows and rocky protrusions at the edges where you can take cover. You need to move from cover to cover during the pauses between the arrows to get through.
Love how you used Maslow’s theory for your build!! That’s so creative. I haven’t been keeping up with your HC episodes so I didn’t know that’s what the pyramid was.
Skizz for your note block issue. You just need a pulse extender coming off the comparator so the signal stays powered. Each drowning noise will keep the pulse extender going. Once the drowning stops the power will stop.
Had a google of Maslow's pyramid and level 2 should definitely revolve around farming and gear. Like the start of a new Minecraft world, you seek shelter, protection, and gear. I envision you have hidden chests with the supplies they need to craft something and that something unlocks the door to the next room. All leading to the room with the bed. They would need to craft things like a pickaxe, bread, armor, etc. Alternatively, one massive room where you need to unlock the door to the house where the bed is. And you have to chain tasks to simulate the start of a new world. Example: you "collect" wood from the chest near the tree and craft a wooden pickaxe and drop that pickaxe into a hopper that gives you cobble to simulate mining cobble. Stone pick for iron. Maybe include a skelly near the iron to make it dangerous and a need for gear like a shield. Craft shears. Shear sheep. Craft bed. Bed opens the door to the house. Was fun thinking about this xD I have more ideas but this comment is already long lol
I kinda love the fact that skizz isn't a redstone expert, as an "average redstoner" I somewhat feel really out of my depth watching actual redstone wizards make magic happen. Skizz's approach feels so much more like my experience learning redstone and reminds me of how awesome it was to discover and learn new things through trial and error and having a friend teach you instead of learning to "copy, paste" a build
For the second layer, have the middle of the layer be open and all along the sides are either puzzles to solve (or questions about favorite memories of being at home) to get a sapling, bonemeal, iron ingots to make shears, a few seeds, and a sheep. The player’s objective is to grow food to feed themselves and to make a bed. The bed is then used as a “key” to get to the next level.
Had a great laugh during the Bloopers, especially Impulse, "record this....". Love the interactions you have with all the Hermits, but especially Impulse.
ideas…Level 2: health and safety, employment, property, family, social ability. 🤔Property done, but need the pic of the villager couple to represent family on the wall. Employment could be farm stuff for food, and trade with villager for emeralds…food =health. Then use emeralds to buy a whole set of armor/tools/weapons in a store…armor =safety. Villager interactions = social ability. That intro. Whoa. I don’t know how you managed to sing that “wow”, but it made the whole experience with the visuals a bit Haunted (yes, I chose the correct word). Chills. 👍 level 3: direct some mobs in there to use all the armor and weapons against. This give the opportunity to run pipes into the pyramid for the punk theme you were thinking of incorporating.
"Polish this turd" Cheers Skizz. I was taking a drink when you said this and nearly choked!!!! 🤣 PS: I think you can use wool to add more focus to the sensor direction and reduce false triggers? Lecturns and a book also make the config easy.
Just so you know, skizz, you are perfectly free to trade sell or give your permits however you like. Everyone has been able to since the start of the season. And many Hermits have already done so. You don't need to be sneaky about it. I love the episode, as always! :)
I haven’t watched the whole video but my solution to your issue with the skulk sensor and damage from lava: use conditional formatting. If the person is swimming (which is likely a different value than damage) AND they are taking damage, then the sound plays.
You could fill the gaps between the layers of the pyramid with black concrete so it will cover the inside bits and still look like it has depth of shadow from the outside.
The intro was superb! The fact that you used your real voice with all the lovely tones and imperfections makes it very human and haunting. Made me think of my abandoned projects with love and a wistful melancholy. Brilliant choice!
For anyone curious, the song in the intro is Sounds of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel on the album Wednesday Morning, 3am and an electric version on their following album, Sounds of Silence. It's a really beautiful song. I never heard it quite in this context...but I don't mind that I did.
Wow I don't know why but this gave me massive flashbacks the OG Dead space intro to the tune of twinkle twinkle Little Star where it's just very dark and unsettling and creepy. Great job dude love the creativity now I got to get back to the video
Maybe a section will be like an escape room where you need to find a garden hoe, use it, plant 3 wheat seeds, harvest it to make a loaf of bread. You eat the loaf of bread and that sound will trigger the door to open so you can go through to the next puzzle
an idea for the second level: maybe have a long corridor with a skeleton at the end, and you need to run from one bit of cover to the next in order to make it to the end (maybe a punch bow as well to make getting hit even more punishing)
To prevent the audio from playing over and over again, just connected it to a decay switch. The switch will slowly power down- too slow for it to completely turn off while the drowning is in effect. This will spam protected it. (you only need 2 comparitors to pull this off, ask one of your redstone buds, they will know what a decay switch is) ~Fade _Alchemist~
for the second layer, i was thinking a series of escape rooms, each where you have to complete a minecraft survival task (punch trees, make a shovel, breed chickens, etc.) and put the produced item from that task into a filtered hopper (like how Cub does in the labyrinth with the A-maze-ing Key and the Key of Knowledge). And maybe you can have it where it opens multiple doors/pathways to previous rooms for more complicated items
Skizz, I absolutely love the direction your content has gone since you went full time. You've quickly become the most unique creator in this space and it's been a joy to see happen in real time. Keep up the good work, and don't forget what got you there there when you hit a million subs.
have a room with a cobblestone floor (use cobblestone generator to refresh it after each person) a chest of sticks and wood picks, a crafting table, and timed dispensers in the ceiling that dispense lava after a delay. the challenger has to collect stone, make tools, and build a suitable stone shelter before the lava falls and unalives them
Skizz, that intro was brilliant! Also, in Business Studies class in school we're actually learning about Maslow's pyramid as a method of employee motivation, and your Hermitcraft base meant I knew what it was already, so thanks for that!
I feel like the security layer could feel like the early stages of a new minecraft world. The first steps to making a shelter, like gathering wood, making tools, crafting, forming your own shelter. Also maybe the feeling of needing that shelter to be safe from the first night of mobs, so could have some mob dangers, like skeletons or something
For the hurt sounds: you could maybe put wool between certain hazards and the unrelated skulk sensors. (For example, between the "Air" record and the lava.) That way, you could have certain records for each hazard, keep them all separate, and still fit them inside the pyramid.
So that intro was nuts man, it was like auto tune but tuning you down flat to make it haunting and creepy and it was so cool. I know you don’t sing flat and off tune like that and it was purposely done. It was crazy cool my man ❤ keep on keeping on. Nooch snoogins 😊
that was the most unique, strange, and wonderful intro ever.
i loved it!
Joel better step up his game if he wants to keep up! Skizz is the new weird intro king! 😂
I thought it was cool
I wouldn't say wonderful...
I loved it fr
He did so good there was a temporary copyright strike 😂😂😂😂great job HomieBuddy❤❤❤
Only temporary? Like its gone now?
Skizz arguing with himself and then tricking himself into agreeing with himself. Peak comedy and editing. Too good.
Definitely a good segment, but at the same time POE Skizz not being aware that trading and giving away permits is allowed seems concerning.
over something that is definetely legal to begin with, as half the servers traded permits
He Bugs Bunnyed himself
Also came here to say this
But isn’t the new triggering location also on the first floor?
@@felbarashla Then Skizz can add wool walls as well as floors
"Was that stupid?"
That gave me absolute chills dude! If a Hermit Concert is ever happening, put this song on the list!
The answer to that question is yes, absolutely.
Doc needs to maybe take it and put it on his poker stage
I also got chills! -- even before the song started -- it was really well done
Add in Hermitcraft Gang and Team Star and we might have the hermit band
Imagine if it was in a list that played automatically...and this song plays after joel's honey honey honey...the shift in mood lmao

Very true.
I left a similar comment under Joel's video.
Exactly!
That was likes cinematic intro to a crazy maze or something

Name each mob with a label of insecurity and doubt. Also create some animal noises on multiple disc's and do the jukebox calibrated to being hit the same as your other contraptions. Use wool on the bottom and sides of the device to make sure only sounds above the sensor set it off and have a 1 block space below each sensor to eate a waterlogged sensor (it will silence it so the player does not hear skulk sounds and having the one drop below means water does not break the redstone.)

This is a cool idea. Each room could have an action that you do to unlock the next room - like cooking meat, or mining through enough blocks
Not a bad idea!!
I liked the opening skizz! Very moody, good song choice
Considering pretty much everyone traded permits and made deals at the beginning of the season I don't know why it'd be illegal at this point

I love the episode, as always! :)
Pause video to say that intro WAS definitely awesome! Well played Sir Skizz
I haven’t watched the whole video but my solution to your issue with the skulk sensor and damage from lava: use conditional formatting.
If the person is swimming (which is likely a different value than damage) AND they are taking damage, then the sound plays.
The dissonance and chord shift on your intro was creepy and ominous. Very very cool.
I think that was a really cool intro! I love Disturbed’s version of “The Sound of Silence”.
great song, I love Disturbed's version.. You have a decent singing voice my friend!
You could fill the gaps between the layers of the pyramid with black concrete so it will cover the inside bits and still look like it has depth of shadow from the outside.
Skizz I LOVE the ominous but funny noteblock messages.
the Skizz and Poe Skizz interaction was so stupidly funny im mad at how hard i giggled
Amazing video Skizz, really enjoyed all the editing bits!
The intro was superb! The fact that you used your real voice with all the lovely tones and imperfections makes it very human and haunting. Made me think of my abandoned projects with love and a wistful melancholy. Brilliant choice!
24:58-Couldn't you just add a wool layer under the lava area?
Yes, but that would require him to think.
Jk it's easy to overlook that kind of stuff.
For anyone curious, the song in the intro is Sounds of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel on the album Wednesday Morning, 3am and an electric version on their following album, Sounds of Silence. It's a really beautiful song. I never heard it quite in this context...but I don't mind that I did.
15:00 - The mirror is a great bit!!
An alternate solution for the drowning sound thing:
🧰=chest ➡️=comparator ➕=redstone dust ♨️=sculk sensor 🎶=note block
🧰➡️♨️➕➡️➡️🎶
➕⬅️⬅️➕
Why chest with stacks and stacks of cobble when a lectern with book opened to page 7 does the same thing with a whopping 2 items needed.
@@SnyperMK2000JclLbecause both work and cobble is cheap
for the second layer, i was thinking a series of escape rooms, each where you have to complete a minecraft survival task (punch trees, make a shovel, breed chickens, etc.) and put the produced item from that task into a filtered hopper (like how Cub does in the labyrinth with the A-maze-ing Key and the Key of Knowledge). And maybe you can have it where it opens multiple doors/pathways to previous rooms for more complicated items
Lovely rendition of The Sound of Silence Skizz!!!
Wow... Skizz, dang man... what a singing voice.
20:25 FYI That's an old fashioned camera
Skizz, I absolutely love the direction your content has gone since you went full time. You've quickly become the most unique creator in this space and it's been a joy to see happen in real time. Keep up the good work, and don't forget what got you there there when you hit a million subs.
Great beginning! Love that song
have a room with a cobblestone floor (use cobblestone generator to refresh it after each person) a chest of sticks and wood picks, a crafting table, and timed dispensers in the ceiling that dispense lava after a delay. the challenger has to collect stone, make tools, and build a suitable stone shelter before the lava falls and unalives them
only a minute in…this is so ominous i love it
Skizz, that intro was brilliant! Also, in Business Studies class in school we're actually learning about Maslow's pyramid as a method of employee motivation, and your Hermitcraft base meant I knew what it was already, so thanks for that!
"Was that stupid?"
If so, lean into it :)
But also, it wasn't stupid, because you leaned into it, and made it good
Loving the Hermitcraft musical arc.
Also Skizz's editing continues to improve in leaps and bounds, can't get enough of it.
I watch all my videos on double speed. I had to pause, switch to my good headphones and turn speed to normal.
Skizz, that was amazing
For the hurt sounds: you could maybe put wool between certain hazards and the unrelated skulk sensors. (For example, between the "Air" record and the lava.) That way, you could have certain records for each hazard, keep them all separate, and still fit them inside the pyramid.
SKIZZY SINGING!!
So that intro was nuts man, it was like auto tune but tuning you down flat to make it haunting and creepy and it was so cool. I know you don’t sing flat and off tune like that and it was purposely done. It was crazy cool my man ❤ keep on keeping on. Nooch snoogins 😊
