Shawn I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all these podcasts!!! I so wanted to join the military after school but due to health reasons got turned down. My best friend went on to fort Benning and got killed in training. Man that really ripped my heart out!! Ever since his funeral in 1993 I promised him I would always help a soldier IN need!!! Well in 2017 God blessed me with the most inspiring event to ever happen in my life a young Sgt Hendricks from fort Bragg NC broke down ENROUTE TO HIS FAMILY for Christmas Dec 17th. I got the honor of towing him in to a garage and I wished him a Merry Christmas and didn't charge him for the tow!!!! SGT Hendricks was so thankful for that he went to social media and 1 week later we were in the front page of the newspaper and even on TV!!! It made me feel like a million dollars!!! And briefly had a great Friend in the 82nd airborne we messaged daily for several months it was awesome talking with him daily while he was deployed!!!! I pray everyday for Sgt Hendricks and all our brave past and current military heros just like you!!!! Thank you again for your service and sacrifices!!! We love our totally awesome badass hero soldiers and marines in Marion Nc!!!

dude,. are you kidding me? her hair fell out due to the sttress from what is happening at home and you guys think this is a healthy relationship? it's abusive! And you're enabling him with this crap and with standing by and doing nothing. This is just fked up. What is wrong with you? "she's the person I most love to hate"...?!!??? how many times has be mentioned god and death in the first 5 minutes? WTH is wrong with you? Get him into whatever program and get his family some time to heal before something goes really wrong. Stop sitting by and pretending he's got a grip, when he clear does not.

This made me cry so much. As a veteran I often forget the trauma that I have subjected my wife and son to because of my own wounds. The old saying of hurting people hurt people. Luckily for me I did find God or God found me...either way, I realised that I needed help. Through therapy and EMDR over a period of 2 or so years I managed to claw myself out of a very deep and dark hole. And my wife Elizabeth has had so many reasons to leave. I gave her a lot of reasons, but she decided to stay. I am who I am today because of her faithfulness and her love and support. I am a big tough guy, but that's just on the surface. Every episode I realise so many things about being a veteran and living life after. Thank you, Shawn. I know that in the past my comments about the old man trafficking drugs were not the kindest.

By far the heaviest segment I’ve had the opportunity to listen to on your show. It’s incredible how much sacrifice that you guys in the special operations community have to make. And to do it for others speaks a lot about the character of the men that do it. I’m a former veteran that served during war time as well. But my enlistment was stark in comparison to the things that you guys have been asked to do. This is the only show that I’ve listen to that something like this has happened live on the show. Wasn’t scripted but it’s real 100% in the moment. It’s amazing that you can actually see change happen. I appreciate you guys .

It is utterly heartbreaking to learn the tragic depth of suffering and sacrifice that many of our military men and women go through in order to keep us free and safe. They are out there fighting these battles and come home wounded and scarred physically, emotionally and spiritually. Yet the rest of us just go about our lives mostly without a clue as to just what they are going through and what it has cost them. These fellow Americans are the true heroes in our society and deserve all the love, respect and care we can give them. And no veteran who has ever been in combat should ever feel cut off and all alone....we leave no one behind, that includes when they get back home.

Glad I listened to the whole story. God is good. He waits for us to see we need Him. To do that, we have to humble ourselves and admit we NEED what He has. My 26 years in LE, mostly on the street, with high activity and lots of ‘church goin’ led me to think my spiritual life was ‘OK’ with God. I was SO wrong. Only AFTER retiring, after all the fights and chases and crashes and gun pointing, came the panic attacks, claustrophobia, insomnia and anxiety. I can’t imagine how intense his panic and claustrophobia was. God took His time to strip me down and expose me to ME. He then slowly showed me HE would give me the strength I needed to get thru every day. So glad to hear this warrior knows Jesus is Lord. Too many of our country’s best never find the ‘peace that passes all understanding’.

His wife could still see the spark, the tiny ember of the man she fell in love with, and she's determined to fan that ember and help him burn through all the trauma and re-emerge from the ashes, like a Phoenix...that's her soul mate 💕

What a hero. Kyle sacrificed his own life to save the lives of others. The people he saved had no one else to help them, and Kyle came home wounded. Not all wounds are visible. I'm sure his family will forgive him for his behaviour at home, knowing where it came from and its cause. We don't think enough of the price paid by our heroes and their families. Yes, we mourn those killed and try to help their families, but many of those who weren't physically hurt find themselves in a living hell, wishing they too had been killed.
