Good for you for going all in, I think that's so awesome. It's such a good reminder to put effort into things we are enthusiastic about. I was wondering why you went with Patreon and not RUclips's new membership option? I don't have either, but I see other creators on one platform or another. That might be a good video idea. You could do a "mini-series" on analytics and AdSense, etc. I feel like you should charge more for the monthly 1 on 1's. Or do a higher tier for creators and business strategy. That's going to be a business expense for most of the folks that sign up for it, and they aren't going to use it forever (or they will) so I think it's a higher ticket service. Just an opinion 💜
So from what I researched, YT takes a much larger cut from their memberships here and doesn’t offer a lot of options. I think on Patreon, I’m able to offer or at least evolve the value I can offer over time. I don’t see a lot of people willing to join but figure I’d get it started now. Also, thanks for the feedback for pricing. It’s all kinda experimental at this point for that higher tier and I was already thinking $10 was a lot to ask. And the series on analytics and Adsense is a great idea! I’ve been slacking on some video topics but now that I have time, hopefully I can dive into them!

Love that you got those signs from Mother Nature! I’ve been wanting to start a YT channel and start a business selling my art for so long now and I’ve been thinking about it more and more lately. The other day I ran into a girl I used to work with. We worked at a convenience store and I worked there because I was going to school so it wasn’t really my long term plan, but she said she left there awhile ago and became an electrician and joined the union and even had another child after her mom passed. She said her life has been looking up ever since. So I just kind of took that as my sign I need to make the change and follow my dreams. But I’m still looking for new employment at the moment so I’m trying to start with that. But I’m hoping everything falls into place.

This is great! Some feedback: One thing to note is what kind of content are you producing. We like authentic you. The aesthetic and visual quality of your videos are attractive. The decor of your home is awesome. Tutorials or sharing how you made those decisions (where you found pieces, toys/figures, etc) are interesting. If Patreon doesn't take off immediately or fluctuates wildly, don't take it personal.

I’m scared of butterflies but the same orange one was flying around me in 3-4 different spots during my walk and park hang yesterday. Flew around more controlled as I don’t like they’re out of control haha. Then a hummingbird always got close on a branch and looked at me and stayed still then flew around me and left. Wild.

It’s by definition not scalable (you have so many hours available) and although it might be super pleasant you might end up spending many many hours on one- to-ones for little revenue at the end

Love that you got those signs from Mother Nature! I’ve been wanting to start a YT channel and start a business selling my art for so long now and I’ve been thinking about it more and more lately. The other day I ran into a girl I used to work with. We worked at a convenience store and I worked there because I was going to school so it wasn’t really my long term plan, but she said she left there awhile ago and became an electrician and joined the union and even had another child after her mom passed. She said her life has been looking up ever since. So I just kind of took that as my sign I need to make the change and follow my dreams. But I’m still looking for new employment at the moment so I’m trying to start with that. But I’m hoping everything falls into place.

This is great! Some feedback: One thing to note is what kind of content are you producing. We like authentic you. The aesthetic and visual quality of your videos are attractive. The decor of your home is awesome. Tutorials or sharing how you made those decisions (where you found pieces, toys/figures, etc) are interesting. If Patreon doesn't take off immediately or fluctuates wildly, don't take it personal.

I’m scared of butterflies but the same orange one was flying around me in 3-4 different spots during my walk and park hang yesterday. Flew around more controlled as I don’t like they’re out of control haha. Then a hummingbird always got close on a branch and looked at me and stayed still then flew around me and left. Wild.

I’ve been thinking of doing this as well with a lot of things that have happened at work and I would rather bet on myself now.
If you can, try and do both for awhile and see how it goes. I’m fortunate to have a partner that can help support us during this new chapter so that is not lost on me. But one thing is for sure, always bet on yourself!

And a quick word on the Patrion, I think the first two tiers are fine, I would be careful with the third one. It’s by definition not scalable (you have so many hours available) and although it might be super pleasant you might end up spending many many hours on one- to-ones for little revenue at the end
