She actually wrote this at 11. Than at 12 she had some people she knew help with the final edit and fine tuning of the song . She has 2 main versions of this song. One at 12 with a bigger band and 1 at 13 with her smaller on stage band. Both are awesome 👌

This was actually the release-performance of her third original. Her first two, "What is life" and "Oslo", was on the album, "It`s Magic" that came out earlier in the same year as "Shield", 2018. Yup, do them. Highly recommended. The cover queen for sure, but her originals are amazing, and may be our best clues to date of what her impending album and long phenomenal career of original music will be like.

When Angelina wrote this I imagined she was apologising to her family for all the sacrifices they had to make to help her with her career. Showing how much she appreciated all their love and protection.
Angelina's original song says in part, "Surround me with angels, don't let them go" Angelina has always referred to her fans as her angels. We angels will always support and protect her and continued to be inspired by her example to spread love and help others.
When I first discovered Angelina I like you looked for comparisons. I heard a cross between the breathiness of Norah Jones and the rasp and soul of Amy Winehouse along with the influence of Billie Holiday and all the greats of the past. NOW, after over two years of listening to Angelina everyday all I hear is Angelina, just pure Angelina. She is heavenly!!

The key to this song is the lyrics, "Surround me with angels, don't let them go." the metaphor refers to her family that has protected her from obstacles in the music business so that she may keep achieving her career goes, with the close net family that surrounds her with love and support; Angelina has survived thought her teenage pitfalls and is clearly on her way to succeeding in the music industry.

So much of her early inspiration is directly related to her love for her family: her sister and cousin, her mom and dad, her grandparents. She’s so wholesome and yet it’s on another level. I really hope the exposure she gets makes her a role model for many people, especially the young girls.

I was in a very dark place when I came across this incredible artist. It’s no exaggeration to say she dragged me back into the light. I can never thank her enough. I wish her nothing but the best.

@@ryanjacob3338I met her the day I buried my mum..mum was Billie Holliday fan so I decided to listen to some of her music to kind of connect with mum again..I spotted a video of AJ singing Gloomy Sunday and out of curiosity I clicked play..this tiny kid broke me emotionally and over the years has rebuilt me with her love, her humanity and well simply put her astonishing voice..I’ve come to the conclusion that AJ was my final gift from my mum. I generally can’t abide child singers..it’s out of character for me to press play to a 7 year old singing..what made me press play?
@@kevingood4644 All I know for sure Kevin is that it is more than our imaginations and biases at play. She's just that good. Artist, kid, voice, skillset, heart, intention. As far as your decision that day, well I don't know, sometimes the universe unfolds as it should. Life is funny with beginnings and endings, doors closing and opening. You had to be willing to hear her to really hear her. So you get some credit too. You could have shut everything out. As does your mother, deserve credit, supernaturally or not.
But here you are. You not only get to have such a wonderful singer be your favorite, but you get to watch a solid, deserving kid make her dreams come true in one of humanities favorite and most impactful arts.

Hi guys. Our friend Jollyo gave you already the gist of it. I'd like to add a couple of things. She does it all herself: words,music as well as the arrangements. Plays piano,guitar,violin,flute. Later on she wrote Million Miles in memory of her Japanese Grandad who recently passed away. I suggest you check her live version of Million Miles in one of the concerts she did in Norway last summer. Breathtaking. Chose between Kongsberg july 7th and Kurbadhagen/Sandefjord july 10th 2022. I prefer Kongsberg but I'm probably biased 'cause,see, I was there. Front row. The day of my life. Love.😍😍
The barefoot princess was 12 years old. She wrote this song in dedication to her parents. If you go back and listen to the words, it’s a pretty deep song for such a young child to write to their parents. Especially the part that says, forgive me for what I am. She’s absolutely an angel sent from Heaven.
Great reaction you 2 to 12 yo Angelina. Angie was 11 when she wrote it. Is 12 here singing it. A year later at 13 she played it in an outdoor concert and yet it was different and amazing. Remember Angie never sings a song the same way twice and so they'll all be 1st time reactions. Check out her covering Elvis version in the same key Elvis sang it. Thanks for another great reaction to & appreciation of another great performance by Angelina - this time of one of her own original songs. Congratulations! - you only have about 180 songs to go. :) While I enjoy all of her music, 3 of my favorites were performed when she was 10: an indoor performance of "Feeling Good" (Live at The Gir Til Bake), her incredible cover of the Amy Winehouse classic "Back To Black" & a somewhat obscure demo (which happens to be my favorite Angelina song) "I'm Still Holding Out For You". This is her best original song to date just edging out "Million Miles" in my opinion. I would love to hear an updated version but I haven't seen her perform it for a long time.

"Shield" was written by Angelina as a tribute and thank you to her family, who guided and protected her from the potential unpleasant influences that could arise through her childhood fame. She greatly loved and used to sing some of the James Bond themes such as "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Goldfinger", so she decided to write this song in a similar style.

Hey guys! 🙂 Thank you for reacting to AJ again! This is actually one of her originals (all of her originals are incredible by the way and so diverse!) It's quite typical after hearing a few songs from across her (short) lifespan that people begin to feel they've seen the full spectrum of AJs talent. In truth, you're just getting started, and I encourage you to continue this journey with her. She will continue to blow you away time and time and time again - always seeming to do something you've never seen before, while at the same time, being true to herself and her incredible musical abilities. She's certainly one of a kind. I believe (mostly guessing) that her reference to "surround me with angels" in this song led to her fans being called her "angels". (please someone correct me if I'm wrong here - I haven't actually found anything to verify this). Suggest next you watch her cover of "Feeling Good" (LIVE on The Stream Gir Tilbake) when she was 10. Great reaction you guys. I beg to differ with regard to your comment “we’ve had every single range than we possibly can with Angelina”. Jazz is certainly Angelina’s wheelhouse, but Angelina has performed covers that run the gamut stylistically including blues, R &B, gospel, pop, country, EDM… you name it, Angelina has sung it. She has more than 185 covers to choose from. 😳

What you've seen so far is not even _close_ to all the "range" you can get from her. I know what you were _trying_ to say: that you've seen a lot of different things from her in just a few videos. Hopefully the suggestions will continue to be quite "varied". Because, believe me… no matter what aspect you're talking about - pitch range, genres, singing styles, ages, settings - you've barely scratched the surface in all of these respects.
To make this a somewhat useful comment, my suggestion for your next AJ reaction would be something more "informal" - i.e., varying the _setting_ in which you're seeing her. You've done music videos and TV appearances, so how 'bout a performance recorded at home?
