(INFP) Gratitude tastes like that ingredient a mother puts in the food, that when asked how she makes it, denies having added anything special. Gratitude taste like love and tenderness.
Actually, if someone told me they were talking about the concept of a doughnut, I would laugh so much I might forget about the doughnut entirely. And as an intuitive, I will find more satisfaction in making a silly debate about the concept of a doughnut rather than eating a doughnut, which would make me happy for five minutes and that's it. By the way, I think that a good way to tell if someone is sensory, is if they talk about what they did on the weekend. Specially if they described how things looked or sounded like. On the other hand, if someone asks me what I did on my weekend, I would go blank for moment forgetting about the details and then I would say bluntly I did "X", then I would go on about what I wanted to accomplish by doing that and why I did it, instead of saying what I did or how I did it.
Lindsay, if someone showed up without a doughnut because they meant the abstract concept of a doughnut I would be happy because there seems to be someone with a mind working as uselessly as mine. I would not be alone any more. I can't count how many times I said yes to a thing because the abstract concept sounded great only to notice that the other person means a concrete thing I didn't actually want.
As an Ne user, gratitude obviously has a really sweet cherry smell with a aftersmell of home baked pies, it tastes like warm apple+berry syrup, it sounds like clair de lune 😊
It’s interesting which words your Ni + Te chose to associate intuition with. I think your Te axis is really showing, especially in leverage. As a Ne + Ti user I most associate words like truth, reason, creativity, nature, chaos , systems, and even divine with intuition.
What does gratitude taste like... I just kept thinking of all the synethesiacs who literally have a sensory taste associated with an abstract concept... And then I thought how fascinating it is that people with synethesia have sensory assosoation with other sensory things or sensory associations with abstract things... And then I fell down a Ni rabbit hole for like 30 minutes... 😂 Great video Lindsay!! ❤
Quality content as usual, a valuable and definitive example of the disctinction, short and to the point, hope you keep it up! My mind's racing right now, constructing the web of how I can use this concept to spot ENFP's. Btw. Gratitude is sweet, obviously... there's a noticeable overtone if umami, with a mellow aftertaste. You can add a hint of smoke, or a bit of nutritional yeast for a vegan cheesy flavor, but skip the heat on this one.🧙♂️
When I was a kid, my classmates used to ask me "Would you like a Hertz doughnut?" So, as my impressionable mind was contemplating why Hertz had branched out from renting cars to competing with Krispy Kreme, my interlocutor would kick me in the shin and say, "Hurts, dont it?" 😥
sensory v intuition sensory simply recognizes what is out there in the environment. whereas, intuition takes what is sensed/perceived AND puts the pieces of the puzzle together based on logic and experience. to use a mathematical example (i like math), say we are looking at the equation 2 + 2. sensory will look at 2 + 2, simply say that 2 + 2 IS 2 + 2 and; they will leave it at that. intuition will look at the equation 2 + 2 and, intuition will say that 2 + 2 = 4. so, again, sensory simply recognizes what is out there in the environment whereas intuition recognizes what is out there AND extrapolates to the next logical step from there.
Gratitude tastes like cinnamon roles to me (INTP). They're my family's go to breakfast for holidays and special occasions; in other words, I've always had cinnamon roles on the mornings where the world slows down enough for me to appreciate the simple things in life.
After much thought, gratitude to me is something bold. Not necessarily spicy, not extreme, but bold.. something very tomato-y. Like a good Italian dish. I'd be grateful for some pasta. Am I projecting maybe??
Yo thank you for autonomy, I never thought to use that practically in language but it literally can mean anything conceptual that begins and goes on by itself until halted by external forces. I could say “my anger was autonomous that day, until I realized I was only angry at myself.”
Thank you for your time. Your videos flow with whatever is going on with me & flip switches more effectively than other areas I've explored. I try to catch what they're throwing but overall the juice isn't worth the squeeze. Thanks again.
Hi Lindsay, how long did you have to spend in the sensory to put together the edits on this video? I appreciated the game show music and visuals 👌 good work. This helped me understand the differences better so thank you! 😊
Gratitude feels like friendly glances, warmness of passive hands and soft sensory whispers of sweet sincere mouth worked by strings of spiring sentiments of heart translated
Good question! Well simply I don't really rate or "know" what I like in real life (in the sensory). What is cool, relevant, or important to others or myself I am just very disconnected with. If someone asks me if I've seen ______show, have heard about ______ person, like _______ car, I don't know. I never see those things as important (by default) and it takes conscious work to know what is relevant.
This gives me an idea of how to play a game over zoom, thanks for the idea!! Also as an ENFI, i see how much my Se is developed because i do enjoy those physical things very much, it keeps me in shape :p
Seems to me the language (English) is not descriptive enough or specific enough to clarify these differences. I once heard another comparison: If sensory is going a, then b, then c, etc all the way to z; then intuition means already knowing this pattern, so one can simply go straight from A to Z.
I would say leverage falls into both domains. And there's nothing wrong with that. In the case of physical leverage that is a 100% physical, real, measurable phenomenon. Then as humans we also use the word leverage metaphorically. In that case it's an intuitive concept.
3:38 By your explanation of Stock Market, I can say Poker is both. Yes, you play with cards, you try to read players' emotions while trying to hide yours to beat the statistical odds of your cards winning over the others. That's probably why I'm so bad at it. Even going off tangent: The cards mean nothing. We could instead be playing Blackjack, another card game with the same 52 cards (minus the jokers). For the more able, they may be using the cards to play card tricks.
Poker is a bit tricky. While there are physical cards and players and such, Poker itself is a game and games are essentially sets of rules. You cant see, smell, hear, taste or touch rules. Could go either way i'd say.
I think atoms are a nice example of sensory vs intuition. They are supposed to be real, -> sensory, at least for a very very very precise measuring device. But a measuring device is only as clever as the person who developed it. So what that device is measuring is just the developers interpretation of the reality. So at the end atoms only exist for our intuitive functions. As this applies to almost every topic of physics, this is also the reason why most people never really understand it.

sensory v intuition
sensory simply recognizes what is out there in the environment. whereas, intuition takes what is sensed/perceived AND puts the pieces of the puzzle together based on logic and experience.

Is this essentially Form vs Function?
Not quite. Sensory tracks more from form to function. But intuition tracks more from function to form in terms of the cognitive steps.
