In his 60 Minutes interview, Cillian Murphy recalled how he told Christopher Nolan there was a problem because he didn't speak Dutch. Christopher Nolan replied, "That sounds like *you* have a problem." So Cillian learned enough Dutch to be able to perform the scene with his lecture in Dutch.

Not quite right. Cillian didn't get any help from Nolan in terms of the pronunciation. One of the audio staff was Dutch, therefore he was able to let that man record the passage. Murphy listened to it in a slowed down version, so he could keep up, but in the end he was only able to say the slowed down words, which sound extremely different from actual Dutch. So, that Dutch sounds horrible for Dutch people. In the end Cillian did manage to organise that part of the film, but the end result is not very satisfying, like you can hear in the film.
Fun fact: The German dub studio recognized that mistake and corrected it in that version.

I’m not sure I’ve ever felt intensity from a movie quite like when I watched this in theaters.. it has stuck with me for months.. if this doesn’t win best picture then my faith in the Oscar’s is completely gone 😂
