Some of the best character actors in the business at the time. Great movie. Thank you. Geraldine Atherton, played by Florence Bates, came late into acting. She was one of the first female attorneys in her home state of Texas. She quit practicing law and helped her father run his antique store; after the 1929 stock market crash, the store closed. Somewhere in between she became a radio commentator as a bilingual English-Spanish speaker to foster good relations between the US & Mexico. She married a wealthy businessman, who eventually lost his fortune & the couple moved to LA & opened a successful bakery, which they sold. She auditioned for a role at the Pasadena Playhouse & won the role of Miss Bates in Jane Austin's Emma. She changed her name to the character Florence Bates, met Alfred Hitchcock & was cast in her 1st major screen role as Mrs. Van Hooper in Rebecca, & she had quite a career after that. She had quite the spirit for life & just kept on moving forward when the chips were down.
Of all the old movies I've watched, I can't believe I hadn't seen this one. It is the model of today with the ads saying "buy gold", "sell gold", "buy bit coin" etc. What's the answer? Don't hoard the money in anything that keeps the money from circulating
Union Bank was closed and charged by President Roosevelt twice,in New York,as it was" providing" money to Adolph Hitler's war machines. Union Bank changed name to Federal Reserve.

Hi
Best dialogue! LOL
‘Take a load off the FLOOR!’ 😂
Now I understand!
It's crazy, money money everywhere...but when you're broke it's so elusive.
The illegals have it all
Reminds me of 2024
OMG definitely sponsored by the "central bank " federal reserve. After Bratton woods adjustment.

BORN 1948 AND NOW LOOK AT THINGS......
sounds like today
Too many ads.
6:01 : "eggs, 20 cents a dozen!" And the guy was complaining about high prices. Wow!!! That was less than two cents for an egg. Today.... WOW!!!
Wow how appropriate the week after election in 2024
Too depressing 😢
Commercial about every three minutes!!!!!
I despise ads
How sooner that velocity in money circuit than life pace.
