They are a great shoe and super comfortable, not to mention they look great. I get complements on them all the time and the color is my favorite thus far from Salomon.
Guess I'll be getting the MK2 as well.
noob question for you. Is The Sua Sponte the EXACT same shoe as the XA Forces Mid, but in a custom Colorway? Awesome looking shoe btw
The problem with solomon is they are very narrow
Best thing: it is without that GoreTex ..
cause goretex in shoes is nothing more than marketing bullcrap
GTX sucks
When you fall through the ice and youre entire leg falls in the water, and stays underwater for a good minute, a waterproof/breathable membrane pants/gaters/shoes prevent any water from going in. There is literally no other alternative. Wearing a non-waterproof footwear with waterproof socks keeps your feet much wetter from the sweat. Wearing neoprene socks and wading shoes works specifically for wading, but when its -15 celcius you cannot get water inside your shoe or your toes will fall off....
We live in the 21st century not to have to melt wax or oil on leather boots anymore just to stay somewhat dry.
@@proxyicarcus Why are you falling through ice? Why is your foot staying underwater for a good minute? ....these problems are solvable. Goretex isn't going to save your foot in that situation, water is going to flow over the top of the boot and fill it. Ask me how I know.

Edit: I would agree that the membrane seals aren't very durable (taped seams < spliced seams), so if you are relying on them to keep you dry, it's really not a big deal to spend a few hundred dollars on a brand new pair of XA's for every new mission and carry UV electrical resin and a UV laser to patch up holes in gaiters. Donate or save the used XA's for recreational activities, just don't re-use them!
While everyone has their own solutions to keeping themselves safe from the elements, I just wanted to share my long developed (and successful) approach staying dry in the Canadian winter alpine conditions. The layered breathable/waterproof membranes in the gaiters/tubular socks/pants over the XA pro's kept me dry the last time my snowshoe broke through the snow & ice into a creek.. and the snow shoe spikes got caught under the ice on submerged roots. The roots took a minute to saw through to get free - while I stayed dry. On that note, I also highly recommend making a kydex sheath to keep your Silky BigBoy within reach on the front of the plate carrier or drop leg. I personally wouldn't go out into serious terrain with a smaller Silky saw than that - it cuts through ice or wood debris like butter and has a good reach.
@@proxyicarcus Definitely interested in a kydex sheath for my Silky, that thing has replaced my axe for backpack carry. Good stuff, thanks for replying. I still don't know why anyone would be wearing this type of shoe - mid "boot" in snowy\backpacking applications. It is best suited as an everyday, beat the hell out of, go back to base\home when you are done kind of footwear. I have LOWA and Asolo (goretex) hiking boots for everything else. Glad your foot made it!
1:49. That's for fast roping
the NON Gortex versions re GOLD ,. have 2 pairs . If you're in the 'Biz' traveling operator or analyst ,. look no further
All grey looked better than mixing it with black.
Nice
Can I use the Salomon Quicklace Replacement Kit on these?
Can anyone confirm if the mk2 is the same as the 2020 model or is it the same as the discontinued models.
Want one but only sold in US
How to order
No gortex for Mark II? Just going to have to Grunt it out in the wet environment cause these are Sexy!
The same but pricey
I WANT IT
Is the boot true to size ? I’m a size 13 in my shoes but I’m thinking about getting a size 12.5 just in case.
Austin Knowles always go up half a size in hiking boots or your toes will be sore going down hill etc
Comes in black right?
Yes
NO, did you saw this clip ? they are grey...
i got ém - and they make a stupid and weird "flap, flap flap, flap" sound with EVERY Step
- No silent walk possible -
and this is soo terrible and makes me mad at every step - i cant wear them :-(
The 2s look not breathable
