I’m so tired of every single Marvel character being a cocky, arrogant, overconfident, narcissistic, jokey, quirky, and borderline sociopathic moron that says nothing but quirky quips and one-liners in every situation. I hate it.
Avengers made a lot of money, so now all studio heads think the key to comic book adaptation success is to make every character a knock-off Joss Whedon character. These movies and shows will have to completely flop before they change direction.
That pretty much sums up my view on an awful lot of media over the past couple years. Genuinely interesting ideas, but so thoroughly ruined by putting them in the hands of all the wrong people that no one else will risk touching them for a decade or more.
Me: Wow, that was a pretty savage review from the Drinker, for someone who hasn't seen the first episode yet. *Watches Frist Episode* Also Me: Wow, the Drinker went pretty easy on this garbage.
I was gonna say, He didnt even watch the show He said that Jen wants these powers because *REASON* She got in a car accident in THE FIRST epasode that gave her hulk powers by accident She didnt ask bruce to give them to her
@@RouxTheKitsune yeah, it also shows he doesn't actually give a shit about the comics, because this is a 40 year old character, who ALWAYS got her powers from a blood transfusion from Bruce, it was never voluntary. This video makes it obvious he's never heard of this character before, and thinks Marvel just came up with her because WOKE!!
She-Hulk and Bat Girl aren't bad characters. Modern media just can't adapt them in a way that doesn't seem garbage because they have to stay in line with THE MESSAGE.
@@reyes8143 Except the way she was portrayed on the Dr Strange movie doesn't really work. She basically killed of dozens of people to get to her make belive children and specifically children who already have a mother instead of you know going to a universe where they are orphans or maybe adopting someone else's or maybe making them? Did they ever address why she can't make her fictional babies in her universe but somehow made them in others? I also saw a video about a number of things she's done in the comics and the long story short she isn't really much of a hero she's more like someone who has superpowers that means well but often ends up making things worse and killing people in the process. Then it feels likes she's a villain but no one will be able to properly control her as a threat.
@@richards1708 yea she kinda wasted as a villain but her development is still great nonetheless. She could be the next biggest threat in the avengers saga since she’s far stronger than thanos. If anyone is wrong, its the MCU. Her character is fine.
@@reyes8143 I wish I had the link to that video with me of that is how she is in the comics she's not fine at all. Maybe in the movie world before multiverse of madness.

Side Note: In the comics, She-Hulk LOVES her powers and has no interest in being "an anonymous lawyer". In fact, she sees them as a gift because Bruce gave her an emergency blood transfusion which saved her life. Meaning she went from being an aspiring nobody on death's door to a superhuman renowned lawyer (very easy to advertise herself as a "super lawyer" and represent the Avengers). The point is Jennifer's life got way better thanks to the Hulk, but Bruce's turned into a nightmare. This is because the Hulk is a manifestation of one's inner psyche. Bruce is a victim of childhood domestic abuse with repressed rage and fear. And this right here means the Hulk is Bruce Banner's DEFENCE MECHANISM. If Bruce is getting angry or scared, the Hulk assumes Bruce must be in danger and bursts out to destroy everything in sight then run away somewhere isolated and quiet. "Hulk just wants to be left alone!" is one of The Hulk's most iconic lines. This is also why Hulk calls Bruce "puny" - it's self-loathing from Bruce's abuse. Compare this trauma to Jennifer's much healthier pysche with strong aspirations and it's no wonder that their respective 'Hulks' are worlds apart, and Jennifer desperately wants to help her cousin. So, if you change this fundamental part of Jennifer's character, you also change her relationship with Bruce. Yet another example of a female character being someone who girls could look up to in the 90s and 2000s, only to be "modernized" and "fixed" for bitter women. See also: Mulan.
Rebuttal, Gamma Radiation induced powers have always had a psychological bend to them based on the receiver's various issues. Being turned into the Hulk is in no way, shape, or form the norm with that stuff as The Leader can attest to.
My understanding is that they changed her origin story from the comic books. I am a long time Marvel comic book reader, I quite way back when they started with all the SJW, Feminism stuff. Yes I hated Ms Marvel/Captain Marvel and continue to hate the character today with her bloviated abilities that make no sense. Anyway, in the comic books Jennifer Walters, the lawyer is shot by a bad guy. Bruce Banner is forced to do an emergency blood transfusion in order to save his cousin's life. His blood then alters her into the She-Hulk. In the movie it appears the Bruce and Jennifer are in a car accident and Jennifer pulls Bruce from the wreckage. Which makes no sense since any thinking human being would have thought Bruce would have changed instantly into the Hulk, just as he did when he tried to kill himself. Anyway, during her "rescuing" of Bruce apparently his blood somehow magically seeps into her body. (another almost completely impossible event). Not only that but enough of his blood gets into her body (not being attacked by her own white blood cells) to change her into the She-Hulk. Even putting aside all the stupidity involved in this new origin story, the big question is WHY? Why was it necessary to change the origin story? What problem did She-Hulks Marvel cannon origin story create that made it necessary to change it? One final comment: I guess Marvel doesn't understand that young boys/men are the ones who primarily read comic books. In my entire life, and I am not a young person, I have found very few women who give a sh*t about ANYTHING related to comic books. Not saying there aren't any but come on, what maybe 10%.?
Female comic book reader here. There’s lots of us! Just wanted to clear up that in the show, Bruce was wearing his ‘inhibitor’ device to keep himself in human form. So that’s why he didn’t change to Hulk, and also why he bled.
Yeah. Captain America totally threw himself on a dummy grenade in training to help himself, and was willing to give up his life at the end of that movie for the good of the world because he'd gain something from it. Totally a narcissist, am I right?
Clearly she has never known any of the Avengers. HELL THE HULK puts his life on the line on many occasions for the greater good even when he thought himself a monster and hated what he is and the people that hunted and feared him. DOUBLE HELL Black Widow sacrificed herself as well to save the lives of millions, Tony, Thor, Spidey, Strange- Every fuckin one of em has made the hard decision. She better have a character arc to be humbled by what it means to take up the mantle of a hero. But in this day and age that is unlikely.
Kinda weird how the Hulk actually makes sense anatomically speaking, his limbs are trunks and he’s massive which fits super strengyh She-Hulk however is just… tall green girl
One thing I can honestly say. I have no understanding at all where this phase of Marvel is going. I can't claim I have watch any series other than Moon Knight in its entirety but a collection of these new generation of heroes joining together to fight some global menace such as ending the threat of wet paper bags just seems so absurd. First they give us The Eternals and give us a poor explanation on why they weren't in End Game and then they give us Egyptian gods and goddess and their human representatives and they don't even mother asking the question where these gods were during End Game. Hell, it might as well not have even happen at this point. They keep wanting to give us the next " "bestest ever" while bashing white men. As a prime example. They wanted a new Captain America so we get ex-falcon to take his place. You need a new improved falcon, so Moon Knight gives us female Falcon 2.0.
That’s what was great about Wonder Woman - she stood on her own merits in the movie, alongside Steve Trevor, not despite him. He had his own strengths. I feel like there’s a lot that writers could learn about their dynamic.
@@ConorJTobin Alas, feminist writers can not think outside their "men evil and toxic, women stunning and brave" mindset. Sadly, we're likely in this woke era for the long haul.
@@ConorJTobin I'm still surprised the first Wonder Woman movie was free of any of the modern feminist rethoric, especially considering that it came out in 2017, when it was at its peak. And that just makes more infuriating how later female superhero movie turned out. They literally had a perfect template and chose to ignore it.
“Anger and fear…are just, like, the baseline of any woman existing.” So I’m guessing she’s an attorney without any experience representing men in Family Court.
@@Jummugest because it implies that men don't experience the same thing on a daily basis and perpetuates the victim mentality that feminists weaponise with everything they come into contact with.
I honestly thought Disney learned something from the reviews on star wars. Creating a super-powered-woman by gifting her all the skills and immediate abilities where she is without training instantly better than the male counterpart, while also making all the better jokes and having the more interesting life, is not realistic at all.
Apparently in the comics that's how it was and if that the case then fine. My gripe is they contrast it with hulk being a fucking goof. Can't have strong female characters without degrading the male ones
You're wrong on one part. Rey never existed before hand. And never was gonna exist. Shehulk has exist as a comic for a long ass time. So at least shehulk didn't just pop up out of nowhere, as the granddaughter pretty much satan
This show is actually really funny if you think about like this: it is a social commentary on how modern women see themselves vs the reality. Jen believes that the world is holding her back, while she is the one who is a failure. She thinks men are the problem, while it is clear that women hold her back more then women. 🥳
"Your transformations are triggered by anger and fear" "Those are like, the baseline of any woman just existing." I'm glad that no man goes through life filled with feelings of fear and anger ... we just play golf, drink beer and point at boobs all day, every day.
“Is there anything worse than dating in your thirties” has the same feeling as, “you think your life’s tough? Try being a girl wearing size 11 Nikes” so I have absolutely no hope for this mess
Disney has turned the concept of Hulks into a joke. Back in the David Banner/Bill Bixby era, when his eye color changed, you knew the shit was about to hit the fan, watching that as a kid scared the shit out of me, and that was the point, Hulks are supposed to be scary. Then comes along Disney, and first we have Hulk not wanting to come out in Infinity War, then in endgame, they turned hulk into a comic relief with Half Banner/Half Hulk. Now, She Hulk is just an Ally McBeal or Sex and the City sitcom, why not just add a laugh track to the show, too?
“Female characters aren’t the problem. It’s how their depicted” quoted by a video that a saw not to long ago. Some of the female characters like bat girl or bat woman isn’t bad, I actually like a few of their versions but it’s how they are now depicted is the problem.
Now, I’m not a woman, so I asked my wife if she lives in a constant state of anger and fear. She responded by letting out a deep, disgruntled sigh and and asked me “what feminist bull-shit have you been reading now?”
For some reason any time a man discusses something passionately or in depth it’s called “mansplaining”, When a woman does it, it’s a Monday. No , it’s anytime they open their mouth.
Fem Hulk: "I'm not a superhero - That is for billionaires and narcissists and Adult Orphans" Iron man: "superheroes? Like wise, intelligent, and capable individuals?" Batman: "I think she meant 'successful human beings' " Superman: "she's referring to 'selfless and kind hearted people' " Deadpool: "uh oh fatherless behaviour" Spiderman: "take it easy man- her cousin's right there" Hulk: "no no- I don't feel angry... just a little disappointed"
In the comics she needed a blood transfusion from Bruce. This gives her the gamma powers of the Hulk but much milder side effects to her psyche. She was timid and meek in her human form but in She-hulk form she was the strong confident person she always wanted to be which is why Jennifer preferred that form.
@@nischay4760 That's probably Bruce training her on how to use/control her transformation. You don't step into a chamber with fucking circular saws in it to gain powers...

All I could remember when watching this trailer was the heartbreaking line Bruce gave when he told the other Avengers he’d attempted suicide because he saw no way out of everything that being the Hulk was. That line punches me in the gut every single time. And now he’s just…putting another human being through that so casually? What the cinnamon toast fuck-
Well he perfected hulkdom and learned to control it, so it's totally different now. I mean look at her, she's completely normal as hulk. To me, that's the dumbest thing about the hulk character now. There were consequences when he was a mindless rage machine. This would have been better had she not been able to control it, having the idea blow up in Bruces face.
@@reignman30 She-Hulk’s always been in control of her stronger form, it’s something that’s separated her from her cousin throughout their histories. It’s essentially her but with all inhibitions shed. She’s strong in her own right, but she’s not nearly as powerful as her cousin.

I don't know if that's the writer's own personal experience or just their bias, but either way I find it hilarious.
I'm in my 30s, and I've taken good care of myself, so I can easily pass for someone in their 20s. It's sad how some people think that if you haven't dated by a certain point in your life, then you're a pathetic incel who has passed their expiration date.

That adult orphans and billionaires line is hilarious, obviously it’s in reference to Tony Stark and Batman, which is funny to me because the main narrative of the McU is Tony stark learning to become a selfless man, great way to discredit him, Batman was never a narcissist, if anything he’s self loathing, to an unhealthy degree. Also which one of the others avengers cast qualifies in those categories? None of them.
The problem isn’t the character, but the writers. Back in the 1980s, John Byrne wrote “The Sensational She-Hulk” and it was a funny, well written series that had Jennifer Walters as a funny, likable character. If we didn’t have incompetent, ideological writers writing this show (along with so many others), She-Hulk would be just as good a character as she was back in the 80s.
@@freemasonslayer The purpose of a trailer is to make people want to watch the product. If people don't like the trailer, whose fault is it? And how can you blame people for talking about said trailer?
Well, that's actually what the character is. Minus the not needing a man part. Shulkie loved men. But you can do that well and in a non-pandering manner. Superhero Sex and the City is exactly what it should be - with a little bit of Gonzo/WTF thrown in for good measure.
I thought it interesting how they changed her origin. In the comics she is injured and needs a blood transfusion and the only person near enough to give it to her is her cousin Bruce Banner ...so she gets her power from him.
One more thing: "What's more depressing than dating in your 30's?" Serious answer: Dating in your 40's, 50's, 60's, etc., which is something people who ask that question tend to find out as a result of being the kind of ungrateful person who would ask that question in the first place. But I get that's the kind of character they're making her out to be: shallow, insecure, and getting in the way of her own happiness. It's basically a female comedy trope at this point.
Its hilarious how they always try to appeal to minorities, but made a terrible job at it...they just told all women in their 30s who are still single that they should be depressed.
Old school She-Hulk started off a wallflower before becoming Queen Green. Maybe here she starts off a cynical and jaded spinster before embracing the She-Hulk persona? Considering Marvel's awful track record of late I don't have high hopes.
People are just in denial and upset about finally someone surpassed that tall zombie lady. Better be cradled to smoochie time by a smokin green hot chic than a tall pale lady probably smells like a corpse that turns out to be a giant flying rotten flesh. Besides, death by snu snu is the best way to go, right? 😉
If they legitimately make Jennifer's transformation nothing more than "Yeah, let me do this..." then I'm absolutely out. Jenn's origin was that she received an emergency blood transfusion from Bruce after an accident (which I assume is the accident we see in the trailer), and it rendered her green, larger, and still completely within her mental faculties. She saw her powers as a GOOD thing, and she became a metahuman lawyer because the supers really didn't have an advocate. This bastardization of both her and the Hulk is...gross.
Honestly as obvious as that is, and with the flaw of the only person able to give her a transfusion being Banner, I’d still prefer that. At least she has thoughts and good reasons, not some vain bullshit like what you’re going to see here. I’m out on MCU.
And now they’re gonna fuck up Abomination even harder than they already did in Shang-Chi. I bet you they’re gonna make him a complete joke instead of the power-lusting, viscous monster he was in Incredible Hulk. God damn it Disney.

3:00 Age gaps between cousins are nothing out of the ordinary, take me for example: I'm a teenager and one of my first cousins is in his 40's and has a kid that's older than me.
The creation of sex-swapped counterparts-- and kid sidekicks, for that matter-- is primarily a legal thing. Comics companies will create different versions of popular characters just to claim the rights to all the name combinations. If they don't, somebody else will snap up the variation and run with it. Case in point: Wonder Man.
"I just want to be a normal, anonymous lawyer." Which is why she signed on to take cases involving super heroes which will obviously be highly publicized and involve tons of exposure for her but whatever.
@@SergeyPupkoMusic She-Hulk got her powers from an emergency blood transfusion. The blood needed to come from a blood relative and Bruce Banner was the only relative she had available in the small amount of time she had in which to have the operation.
The thing that's truly sad is, this could have been a really good buddy cop-style superhero story with Hulk and She-Hulk. In the comics, Jen got into an accident and needed a blood transfusion. The only person available was Bruce, who hesitantly agreed not knowing what the side effects of his Gamma-infused blood would be. She got a much milder version of his "Hulkness" allowing her to stay in control of herself at all times while transformed, and with enough training, became able to switch back and forth at will. She initially didn't like it, but eventually came to accept and embrace it, and grew into the role of a true hero. This on the other hand... just looks like content.
@@blackmage6842 True, but I'm sick of "Content" I want something good for once. All of these new characters they've ruined right from their introduction could have been great if any of them gave a solitary fuck.
She-Hulk is present in the original Infinity Gauntlet comics. She speaks very casually, which is a refreshing contrast to the other heroes which speak very formally. I liked her there a lot. She seemed upbeat and well-meaning, concerned for the civilians who were being hurt or killed in the Snap and subsequent natural disasters.
If you ask me, the transformation must be triggered by insecurity and entitlement. Things that are the baseline for "strong empowered women" living with first world problems.
In my humble opinion, it’d be better if she said “Those are like the baseline for ME just existing”. Telling people that they are scared and mad all the time is less effective than seeing a scared/mad person overcome their fear and leverage their anger.
I love the idea, that the implicit message of the show is, the only way women can make it in this world, is if they become as manly as possible. Empowering isn't it?
This isn't meant to be a message about women in general, its just about a lawer who gets super strength, I guess a women can never get super strength super powers without someone like you saying it's trying to give that message
The problem with 'Strong Female Characters' is they always try to make other characters feel small. Instead of showing that female characters can be just as good as male characters.
I'm just here to say this: I'm a 47 years old tv writer from italy and every time Marvel or a Major Hollywood Studio drops a trailer I'm really happy, but not for the movie or series itself. It's because I know that The Critical Drinker will make a video about it. Seriously, thank you for what you do. Mannucci
As a fellow screenwriter i often find myself wondering why none of my personal scripts get optioned when garbage like this sells. Only scripts I've ever sold was people hiring me to write their own concepts, no one wants to even read mine. I was once at a really fancy cocktail party and had a chance to chat with a big name producer and he said they were starved for good writers, i told him its super easy to find good writers, i know plenty. He said where are they hiding, i said you know you guys don't even accept unsolicited scripts on your website right? The first step to actually hiring competent writers is probably just not screening them out at the front gate.
Hulk: “The transformation is triggered by anger and fear.” Me: “You mean the two most prominent emotions people who like good stories feel when Marvel makes a new show or movie nowadays?” Hulk: “Exactly”
All this will definetly hurt Real Woman. Gender-Swapping and making Everything Female is so f-ing weird. No problem with female Superheroes but Wokeness is just S-it.
I have no issue with strong female characters. You just don't need to make the male characters emasculated mommy's boys, to show how tough the female characters are.
This comment made me think that maybe the people who write like you described do not think that a woman at full femininity can measure up/be equal to a man at full masculinity. I’m not saying I believe this, because I don’t, but maybe that’s what the writers unconsciously think or believe
@@space_pollution That would make sense, given that feminism has spent almost a full century trying to convince people that anything feminine is inherently worthless.
Tbf, thats accurate of the source character. Winters doesn't have to struggle with an alter-ego Hulk. She also breaks the 4th wall in the comics, a lot too. - She hulk, is a lot more "Archie", than say "Avengers", lets put it that way.. The momentary issue I had, was with how she became. - In the comics, one of the perps she put away (a mobster) jumps her and Bruce, and blows Walters away. Bruce saves her with a blood transfusion and the side effect is She Hulk. - Builds her public image as an "it girl" who's all that. Party hardy, pinup chick. Who's more serious side is very much shaped by injustice, which Walter's considers social justice and vigilantism to be part of. - So, it'll be very interesting to see if producers debunk their own agenda by followingbthe source. My guess is not, seeing they already flipped. That said, I enjoyed it otherwise. Todays hip is not very cool, frankly its kinda tragic and very uncool. But whaddaya do. Laying off that rag a lot would probably net a better reception too.
I will watch this movie only if she shouts "she-hulk smash" from the bedroom after a tinder date and the dude subsequently plummets into the lower level of her apartment.
There's a fundamental difference between why pretty much all the other female duplicates were made and why the original she-hulk was made. Literally every one of those you mentioned were ideologically motivated, "progressive" steps in the "girls can do it too" idea. She-Hulk literally only exists because someone thought it'd be hot.
It's more than that. Back in the day, there was speculation that a female Hulk would be introduced in the Hulk TV series to capitalize on the popularity of The Bionic Woman. Marvel realized that if they succeeded, then that studio, not them, would have the rights to that character. So they whipped up a She Hulk for the comics.
I would unironically have more faith in Saul Goodman being my lawyer if I was a superhero over the MCU She-Hulk, her comic counterpart pre-2016 was an amazing character and drop-dead gorgeous before they turned her into Gigantor.
Hi, I'm Saul Goodman. Did you know that you have rights? The constitution says you do! And so do I. Conscience gets expensive, doesn't it? For a substantial fee, and I do mean substantial, you and your loved ones can vanish. Untraceable. I want it in a money order and make it out to Ice Station Zebra Associates. That's my loan out. It's totally legit … it's done just for tax purposes. After that we can discuss Visa or Mastercard, but definitely not American Express, so don't even ask, all right? You're a high-risk client. You're gonna need the deluxe service. It's gonna cost you. If you're committed enough, you can make any story work. I once told a woman I was Kevin Costner, and it worked because I believed it. I never should have let my dojo membership run out. Better safe than sorry. That's my motto. As to your dead guy, occupational hazard. Drug dealer getting shot? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's been known to happen." Don't drink and drive, but if you do, call me.
It just felt like they wanted to have a girlboss, you know a female so perfect that there will be side characters just to praise her, then they looked at she Hulk on some random comic, and made the show ( without any research of course).
@@L4nd0C4lr1s14n eh, I'm not as critical as many others, although I understand the anger and distrust of Disney. No Way Home was great (Sony, mostly, I know), and I enjoyed Black Widow, Shang-Chi, WandaVision (until the end), and even Hawkeye. I like Doctor Strange 2, as well, and even made me forgive WandaVision a bit more since Wanda was evil. Loki I heard enough awful things about to not even watch, didn't see Eternals and don't plan to, Moon Knight started off interesting and wound up being a big disappointment, and Falcon and the Winter Solider I hated more than any MCU project before it (including Inhumans). I also won't be watching Love and Thunder. I judge each project individually.
Yeah ngl i used to love Marvel but they seriously peaked at Endgame and now everything is woke and politically related with ass writing and corny lines. It's kinda sad to see how far the MCU has fallen.
"THE message" lol This video never gets old, haven't watched or the interest of watching the show, but I'm pretty sure that this video is more interesting and fun to watch lol
I have an old She-Hulk comic from the 80's. She grew into one of my favourite Marvel-characters after a time. She was different enough from Bruce to provide her own appeal. She could control her own transformation, but she did not get stronger the angrier she got or anything. It was a fixed power level. She did keep her intellect, though. She was playful, sarcastic, flirty and had a habit of breaking the fourth wall a good decade or so before Deadpool came along. She was a bit of an 80's non-radical feminist. You know, the strong independent woman who was secure in her own sexuality? Not the angry, spiteful harpy that tells everyone how independent and powerful she is while throwing tantrums when she doesn't get her way. Walters was an interesting character. She had hit the superpower jackpot, she wasn't sulking around and bemoaning her tragic existence, she punched bad guys, made bank as a lawyer, and was notoriously fond of men, with the occasional nod to the audience and/or writer. It wasn't overly dramatic or tense, it was mostly just fun. Leave the pathos to the X-Men and Spider-Man, girls just wanna have fun. The opposite of modern, "All-New" Marvel.
_She could control her own transformation, but she did not get stronger the angrier she got or anything. It was a fixed power level._ Well, I just found this out and it's kind of interesting. Apparently, her powers amplify her own natural strength, which basically means that if she trains and gains as Jennifer Walters, her strength as She-Hulk will increase _exponentially._
The 60-issue run of Sensational She-Hulk from John Byrne IS a great comic and WOULD make a great show!! However this does look like a sad woke modern adaptation. Apparently we can't just have complex entertaining characters who possess strength & confidence as well as human insecurities & struggles; they need to upset the establishment and save the world through being better than everyone. Oh well.
The thing is that in the comics, She Hulk has been a really good character, especially when drawn and written by John Byrne: Attractive, smart, and fully aware of the fourth wall. The version from recent comics -- I can't even.
See it’s not impossible. My first reaction to ultimate Spider-Man was oh cool, black Spider-Man. Then Spider-verse made me think differently about him. His story paralleled peters, but it wasn’t a copy, Peter’s was about responsibility while miles’ was about expectations. A character might seem like a trait swap, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t be compelling or interesting. Now when I see miles I don’t think black Spider-Man, I think hell yea it’s miles Morales. I changed my mind on him because I could relate to him on a personal level and I was invested in his story, and shocker, I’m not black. His race was never a driving force in his character in that movie. It was all about his personal struggles, which anyone can relate to regarding of race. That proved to me that he wasn’t just black Spider-Man, he was so much more. But when writers don’t put effort into their characters and have their race/sexuality/gender dictate their character, it’s hard to see them as anything more than those labels. If you make a show about batwoman and the entire time all they talk about is how she is a woman, it’s really hard to not look at her as Batman but a woman. So yea I agree, it’s possible, just so much damn pandering keeps obscure characters who happen to be minorities from shining. Ruins their potential. Worst of all, they’ll never been see as anything more than a black Spider-Man or female Batman
@@boneman9751 Eh, for me Miles was the weakest part of Spider-verse. His story boiled down to the same milquetoast message that they keep giving to the 'minority' characters: "Just believe in yourself more and you can do it!" I liked Miles in Ultimate Spider-Man because he had to deal with feelings of inadequacy and worried he wouldn't measure up, especially after Peter died. But they just keep trying to shove him and Gwen Stacy into everything and it doesn't work 99% of the time.
I got to know She-Hulk a lot more when she was in the Fantastic Four for some time. I liked her. Hot, smart, confident. Both as She-Hulk and as her alter-ego. There was this one story where she was sunbathing in the roof. Topless. Some paparazzi in a helicopter took pics. When the pics got published (even her lawyer self couldn't stop it)... wait for it. They colour corrected. Instead of green skin, it was "corrected". So now no one would believe it was her in the pics.
Actually, She-Hulk is a well-fleshed-out character in the comics and a nice spin on the hulk concept. While Bruce is an intelligent, sensitive man with trauma who transforms into a Violent Savage, Jen is a shy, meek woman who transforms into a confident reliable Bombshell. While Bruce hates and is at odds with the hulk, Jen loves and becomes too dependent on She-hulk. In both cases, the main arc for these characters is to close the gap between their two inner persons, to become full beings.
@@shen5533 Right? He read She Hulk's description like she hasn't been a character that has been around for over 40 years at this point. You hit the nail on the head in the first minute, why can't anyone come up with an original female super hero without been female hulk, deadpool, batman etc; it just shows women have nothing without a man doing it first.
Some of yall are taking that line way too seriously... If anything, that was the exact opposite of a feminist remark, and a funny jab at female emotions.
@@unicron99999 could be both actually and judging from what path Marvell has taken lately i don't think it was making fun of women, more like excusing their behaviours because of this.
I hate when shit like this happens because the MCU has already proven that they can write great women. Natasha Romanoff, Yelena, Peggy Carter, Jane Foster, Valkyrie, Kate Bishop, Kamala, Layla, every woman in Black Panther. But in order to do that, you’ve gotta put the character first instead of THE MESSAGE.

@@CorePathway I think that joke was delivered a little too dead-pan. Almost sounds like you are serious.
And the writers are supposed to be progressive, lol.
Side Note:
In the comics, She-Hulk LOVES her powers and has no interest in being "an anonymous lawyer".
Yes exactly! Jen was a female version done correctly.
Rebuttal, Gamma Radiation induced powers have always had a psychological bend to them based on the receiver's various issues. Being turned into the Hulk is in no way, shape, or form the norm with that stuff as The Leader can attest to.
You haven't even seen the show yet and considering this an origin story it will very likely end up like that
@@lukactj Right like chill
How about yu let the story play out 1st no one would b okay with turning into a hulk without an adjustment period
I think X-23 gets a pass because she's Wolverine's daughter, and her origin story and current story doesn't try to spread THE MESSAGE

The fact that so many writers can’t create good female lead movies without horribly blasting and dehumanizing any male character says a lot.
The only good ones right now are from cartoons
That’s what was great about Wonder Woman - she stood on her own merits in the movie, alongside Steve Trevor, not despite him. He had his own strengths.

Clearly he changed his mind after Jen told him it couldn't have been as bad as dating in your thirties.
In the comics he had a choice between saving her life but giving her powers or... letting her die. She could transform at will.

The problem isn’t the character, but the writers. Back in the 1980s, John Byrne wrote “The Sensational She-Hulk” and it was a funny, well written series that had Jennifer Walters as a funny, likable character. She's basically just a tall Fiona from Shrek.

I agree. This is character assassination.

"I just want to be a normal, anonymous lawyer."

She-Hulk is present in the original Infinity Gauntlet comics. She speaks very casually, which is a refreshing contrast to the other heroes which speak very formally. I liked her there a lot. Most of these "strong women" characters are just jerks.

It's more than that. Back in the day, there was speculation that a female Hulk would be introduced in the Hulk TV series to capitalize on the popularity of The Bionic Woman.
It was a fixed power level._
Well, I just found this out and it's kind of interesting.
Oh well.

Sexy and Smart
I got to know She-Hulk a lot more when she was in the Fantastic Four for some time. I liked her. Hot, smart, confident. Both as She-Hulk and as her alter-ego.
There was this one story where she was sunbathing in the roof. Topless. Some paparazzi in a helicopter took pics. When the pics got published (even her lawyer self couldn't stop it)... wait for it. They colour corrected. Instead of green skin, it was "corrected". So now no one would believe it was her in the pics.
I thought the same way before I watched this video about femail versions. Wow i though I was alone. Great video Man :)
Omg the Tyrion scene placement was pure gold.
That’s not She-Hulk…
Dang. She’s such a fun character in the comics and cartoons…
My only real exposure to her was thanks to UMvC3. And even then I can tell you're right.
Yeah man that's Shrek's wife
how inaccurate is this then?
bruh people already shitting on the show before watching it.
@@dominic9585 The trailer was dog shit
Actually, She-Hulk is a well-fleshed-out character in the comics and a nice spin on the hulk concept. While Bruce is an intelligent, sensitive man with trauma who transforms into a Violent Savage, Jen is a shy, meek woman who transforms into a confident reliable Bombshell. While Bruce hates and is at odds with the hulk, Jen loves and becomes too dependent on She-hulk. In both cases, the main arc for these characters is to close the gap between their two inner persons, to become full beings.
Exactly. Now, I don’t like Drinker’s first half the video. Seems to be a faithful interpretation so far.
Love this comment
Yeah, but these guys over here think that She-Hulk is just another copycat of Hulk
@@shen5533 Right? He read She Hulk's description like she hasn't been a character that has been around for over 40 years at this point. Honestly I think these guys are just mad the MCU isn't gritty and like to pretend the MCU before Endgame was way more serious and dramatic (fyi: it wasn't. The only real drama in those 10 years were the Cap movies and Infinity War/Endgame
She HULK in the 90's hot hot hot 👍
0:20 ah yes, empowerment
You hit the nail on the head in the first minute, why can't anyone come up with an original female super hero without been female hulk, deadpool, batman etc; it just shows women have nothing without a man doing it first.
“Anger and fear…are just, like, the baseline of any woman existing” In Defence Of Amber Heard? LOL
wha-
Oh bye
😂
Some of yall are taking that line way too seriously... If anything, that was the exact opposite of a feminist remark, and a funny jab at female emotions.
@@unicron99999 could be both actually and judging from what path Marvell has taken lately i don't think it was making fun of women, more like excusing their behaviours because of this.
She Hulk looks more like Shrek than the comic book character she's supposedly adapted from
Or Princess Fiona
I hate when shit like this happens because the MCU has already proven that they can write great women. Natasha Romanoff, Yelena, Peggy Carter, Jane Foster, Valkyrie, Kate Bishop, Kamala, Layla, every woman in Black Panther. But in order to do that, you’ve gotta put the character first instead of THE MESSAGE.
