The Loaded Vanguard is the ultimate carving and pumping machine. Unparalleled for high-energy flex and snowboard-like feel - a favorite among intense carving enthusiasts.
The Vanguard comes in sizes 38" and 42" with five different flex options to suit your weight and riding style.
Its lightweight bamboo and fiberglass construction provides a very special, high energy return flex and a smooth and super responsive ride that feels like you're bouncing on a trampoline.
What sets the Vanguard apart is its exceptional carving experience. The cambered profile and sidecuts give you precise control and make your turns feel effortless. It's not just for carving, though - the Vanguard excels at distance pumping and daily commuting too.
Many riders swear by its durability, using it daily for over six years without any issues. Some riders love dancing on the Vanguard 42", despite the lack of kicks, due to the super easy carving on this deck.
Stock completes include the standard 75mm In Heats, the Monster Trucks with 85mm Caguamas (super fast and super responsive), and the Grave Digger with the monstrous 105mm Dad Bods (ride over anything at sonic speeds).
Watch my deep dive and find out why this board is so beloved by the riding community.

Everything you said about this board is true. I am riding one currently. I added wedged risers to the Paris trucks which yields greater responsiveness and more energetic pumping. Check it out, it's a cheap mod.

At 4:00 you said durability for 6-10 years, lolz, my original 2002 model is 22-years-old and is fantastic to cruise on and I regularly take it to the skateparks and pump track. Recently, I refurbished my Loaded Vanguard with new Orangatang Nipples Bushings, new Loaded hardware and Redz bearings and it now rides like new.

Wow amazing you actually have the original Oak deck? What wheels are you running? Would you share a pic or 2 ? I'll add them to my blog post!

I have a flex 1 which is 12 yrs old and a flex 2 that's about 2 yrs old. I'm looking at getting a flex 3 and fit it with dad bods.

Have you tried pairing it with dad bods? would it still be pumpable and carvable enough? :) (if that makes any sense)

Yeah I've taken the Grave Digger setup for a (long) spin. I'm not the best rider out there but I was still able to carve nicely, it feels like the deck's "springyness" even beats the high grip of the Dad Bods so that you get a sweet carving feel and you gain speed in pumps. Some people wedge/dewedge for better results, haven't tried that yet on that setup. The Dad Bods have incredible roll and rollover but so far I like the Cags better with the Vanguard, notably more responsiveness and acceleration. Just my 2c though

Needs to be wider and more camber to make it more stable for my surf trucks . That is why I stop using mine.I used mine for years.I am 71 years old. I use my Dervish Sama more because it is wider.

Doesn’t look like you have any riser pads on the deck. I’ve read some people mount angled riser pads on the Vanguard for an even more aggressive carve.

I used to do that. I would even tinker around with having both face in one direction or opposites. If I remember correctly I had made it that the front truck would turn more aggressively but not the back one, for some stability. It's been a while though, so my recollection is hazy.

Yeah wedging/dewedging the front/back adds leverage to your pumping. Haven't tried it yet with the Vanguard + Dad Bods though. Should be fun!
