Lewis Noble has lived and worked in Derbyshire since 1996. His focus lies in the physical and emotional impact of the landscape on the senses and the effect this experience has on us.
His paintings are not snapshots or photographic frozen moments but through repeated layering and eroding of the painted surface, they contain all of the time it takes to make them.
The result is a body of work that speaks to the heart of what it means to be part of the environment.

Lovely work as always! I now create two paintings of the same subject, a small one with acrylic and a larger one with oils. Since they are totally different media I can do things with one I may not be able to do with the other. It's really fun to carry over ideas, colors and effects.

When you are working on really large paintings do you work on a couple at a time?

I love your work and am so much looking forward to your course in April. And the music in your video is so distracting…. Fortunately I could tell when you were talking so I could just turn the volume up again 😉
