- Frank Zane has always been one of my biggest heroes, who inspired this little Russian boy to become the body builder I am today! Sorry about the poor quality... anyway I hope you will still be as inspired by this amazing man as I am!

" i dont rely on numbers because they are not reality, they are a measurement of reality" really captures the uniqueness and intelligence of Frank
carlos y the art behind the science, the scultping overcoming the numbers. Creating the Illusion, looking at the silhouette, that art form is now overridden by mass and sponsorships
+CHAPO 13 Nice catch! Agree completely, this line says a lot about the kind of man Mr. Frank Zane is.
+CHAPO 13 STEROIDS
l
He didn't rely on them because he was small.
Frank Zane. An absolute gentleman.
And a genius!
MY FAVORITE EVER! he looked like a greek sculpture, not like the freaks of nowadays
sebastian acuña HGH bellies are ruining it. its all about just packing on mass now.
Alistair Wexner Bro, I'm 6 foot 2 86KG. Not really skinny. I also never said HGH is a bad thing, it's actually quite effective in treating certain disabilities. I'm insulting body builders taking it just so they can pack on more muscle than should be humanly possible.

Sk8T3rH4T3F god you're dumb
Sk8T3rH4T3F That's big talk coming from a guy using a fake profile pic, dumbass.
While I admire Arnold, Coleman, Yates and all the "big" guys, Zane remains for me the ideal of perfect body. Absolutely fantastic physique.
Mike O'Hearn is bigger and more aesthetic than Zane.
Haney?
@@jackclass5446 who tf cares about haney?
@@philhealth4978 he's also natural on top of that
Zane had significantly better legs than Arnold.
frank is right. He clearly said why modern bb have no proportions or aesthetics. They're legs ( thighs) are too big, midesctions are wide and thick , huge traps and they have subpar calves and forearms.Only improvement they made was shoulders got bigger, maybe the bigger backs too but that is largely lost due to biggest waists. So even if they have much bigger backs the efect is diminished and v tapers less impressive.
Great interview with one of the genuine icons of bodybuilding.
Imagine 185lbs at 5ft 9ins -- winning the Olympia. Hard to believe.
At 73 -- he is a great inspiration to all everyone.
He has trained all his life. Probably still works out.
His comments on modern bodybuilding are insightful & wise .
73? dude looks and acts super young for his age . most 73yrs are fat and incoherent .
The Classic Physique trophy should be made in Frank Zane's image. #Legend #GreekGod
Very Good Idea !!!
+Michael. RODRIGUEZ RODRIGUEZ wtf is your problem
You win
They used Francis Benfatto
The only Mr. O physique i would actually want to look like.
true
Derptrollz 100% bro
Samir bannout and Chris Dickerson also
@@fhk1980 I agree I met Samir and Chris Dickerson in 1980..Both looked great and were friendly, funny guys. I met Frank in 1979/ 1980
How about Serge Nubret?
Mr Zane should be a judge for Mr O! Bring back some fricking astetics
You were so nervous I felt nervous watching, but I understand why
He said he looked up to frank zane since he was young in bodybuilding, I would be nervous too if my idol is in front of me talking to me. That is really a good inspiration, i looked up to the guy as well!
+Tim Shufflebottom you are not the Legend what ever happend to tim he posted videos and fell off
BIM TUFFLESHOTTOM
I find it funny that this man who took steroids still has his hair, looks vital and is very well spoken and is in his 70's. He looks in better health then alot of the retired olympia athletes do in their 30's, 40's.
+Elvathar Steroids can be helpful or destructive, it all depends on smart use and not abuse.
+Elvathar Frank Zane is one of the smartest bodybuilders out there. He actually knew what he was doing, you can make that up yourself just out of this video
+Elvathar True.
+Elvathar probably because he didn't take as much as people do now. he was way smaller than the bodybuilders now, thus meaning he probably took less gear. I would rather look like him then rather than the bodybuilders now anyway
Yeah he looked amazing one of the best bodies I've ever seen. But I mean I can't really fault people for going for what they belive looks best it's all subjective in the end. The pregnant stomachs aren't subjective tho it's just retarded and ugly.Sam Dehko
Mr. Zane is amazing. I talked to him several times in the late 60's and early 70's. The conversion would start out with, I would like a banana and strawberry smoothie. He would put down the jugs of fruit juice and mix my drink and then go back to exercising with the jugs while you asked him questions. A very intelligent and affable man. I knew he was a chemistry teacher but I could never figure out why he was working at a Jack LaLanne's European Health Spa. In those days I was interested in bulk but gave up on that and went for a leaner, more aesthetic look after chatting with him. I never wanted to be a body builder but I did want a good looking body that could do what I wanted. Least you laugh at a Jack Lanne spa, this was the same spa that Chuck Norris worked out at and even gave classes. Just think, me, Norris and Zane at the same time. Okay Norris and Zane and hundreds of nobodies like myself but still.... Those were the days. Good to see Mr. Zane is still at it.
Frank was a Maths Teacher
igor stein
He said chemistry but he actually taught both.
+wilhard45 -- Math is crucial for dosing the Dianabol®. ; ]
Cant believe this guy is 70
73
T Shitta 73 (here)
T Shitta Cause this guy was healthy unlike these HGH freaks who probably will die before they get to his age.
Where the fuck did you hear that from? HGH doesn't increase your lifespan you dumb fuck it makes you look younger that's it.
+Alistair Wexner HGH produced naturally in the body, stimulated by correct exercise protocols, will indeed increase lifespan. However, supplemented HGH will destroy your joints, enlarge your organs and ultimately kill you (young!).
I love listening to the Golden Era guys. I've always liked Frank Zane.
The cameraman was either drunk or a Franco Columbu fan.
panatha tube u hating on franco?
Screw you
***** Your IQ must be zero, if all you understood was that my comment was against Franco. LOL.
panatha tube all i know that frank has said bad things about him in some enterview, dont know if its this one though.
Ice J All I know is that they had rivalry between them and there weren't exactly friends
Frank Zane is hands down the best aesthetics I mean he would feel sad looking at today's bubble gut body builders 😩
Wow u can really see how frank is getting chilly over time :) i love those humans, the happy ones, the honest ones :) frank zane is such a great guy
For those that did not catch what Frank said regarding original supps of yesteryear, they were Rheo Blair nutrition. We talking about from the '50s and so on.
This was before Weider Supplements.
Excellent interview overall. Hard to cover all the fields in detail and thoroughly. So many Qs and topics out there. But the Qs handled here were well done.
Can't believe Frank is 73. I don't want him to age :(
True aesthetics are timeless!
He is way older than Arnold by now, but he still has so much energy. He might not be the same condition as he was back then due to age, but honestly, I look up to him so much more than the pro bodybuilders of today because he has had arguably one of the most aesthetic physiques around which did not look freaky. What is he doing right now in his 70's?
Kevin Jang Frank, IMHO, is one of a kind. In his prime, he arguably displayed the most well=proportioned male physique in history.
To answer your question .... Frank still trains aspiring bodybuilders and fitness buffs. He has a website where you can learn about his training and also merchandise he offers (including an online magazine).
Christopher Wood Now, that would be a contest I wouldn't want to bet on! I can't say who would win, but both men had great physiques.
+Christopher Wood I don't think Reeves could beat Zane objectively speaking, Reeves was natural throughout most of his career, there is some speculation that he used later on but it comes off as hearsay from what I've read.
However whether Reeves would or wouldn't win a contest against Zane doesn't change the fact that he is my favorite all time bodybuilder, and I think it's fair to say that Zane was the Reeves of his era in any event, and I have great respect for both men for their contributions to bodybuilding.
+Kevin Jang fuck im wired becasue of him he seems to be natural i never thought this about a bodybuilder before
+Kevin Jang He runs the Zane Experience in San Diego, California.
What class looks like and how it talks.
Best bodybuilding related video to this date.
Frank Zane a true legend and inspiration.
A true legend, too bad bodybuilding is no longer how it was back then. I hope one day bodybuilding federations change their perception on the best body. Fuck that bloated gut look, bring back Aesthetics!
Dedicated, disciplined, highly intelligent and humble. The Master.. and my all time favorite. I waked into a gym when I was 18 and saw a poster of Frank Zane and that was it, training for forty years now. Thanks Frank, you were the best.
"they're done quick, they're done in a couple years" so true!!!!!!!!!!
Frank Zane is the king of bodybuilding and always will be!
The Chemist..3 time Mr Olympia, one of the greatest and most aesthetic physiques of all time..
14:50 daamn old legend still got better calves than me...
The Bodybuilding icon. No one looked better. This man makes sense. Wow, what a concept. Focus on what contributes to increasing a symmetrical look. Doesn't seem so complicated, but most of us has not focused on this. He inspires me more than any bodybuilder.
T
Swole, thank you for this awesome interview with my legend hero. You asked the best question in the 20 minutes you had. Your closing comments were beautiful as well.. Smart Boy! Thx, Frank Zane ur the BEST!
In my opinion the most aesthetic physique yo ever step onto the Olympia and I stand by that even in 2016

Absolutely loved this interview, Artemus ! The look you had, like you met your super hero ! Definitely left me with a smile on my face.
Keep up the awesome content !
Intelligence, manners, looks, physique, hobbies, this man was/is the whole package
So awesome bro. What an absolute legend
Frank Zane is one of my idols!! Really appreciate this interview!
Man, I really appreciate these interviews with the bodybuilding greats from the Golden Era! So inspirational to listen to!
Frank and Arnold were and will remain the best !
I'm fifty now and never quite lifting for 32 yrs thanks to growing up and looking up to these guys. If I was a teen now I'd never go to a gym looking at the monsters competing today.
Now I only admire the fitness category, beauty is the ultimate goal in bodybuilding, at least for me.
Thank you Frank !
And thank you man for posting this. :)
13:30 lol them calves grandpa lol
What a wonderful interview!!! Frank Zane the living legend of Aesthetics.
I really like this guy Artemus, he's the first to really take the golden ages of body building and push to bring it back to the time when it was a healthy sport. Aesthetics is where it's at and should be and we need to get back to that. Frank Zane is the man. Steve Reeves, is where we need to get back to. The freak show is over. It's ran its course. I will continue to watch and see where Artemus goes with this. I really think he is the future of bodybuilding. Thanks so much for this video. I've watched it a hundred times!!!
i didnt know this guy before and just checked some pics of frank. his physique was amazing!
Great video man , thanks for helping us the fans out, by sharing some knowledge.
Zane is 73? Damn he has the energy of a 47 year old!!
Ian Fain thats because hes "different". the american dream is to have low testosterone, high estrogen, high cholesterol. people like frank are considered weird. clubs bars, waking up in someone elses lawn... obesity... poor erection.. people who exercise are made fun of... they put stereotypes like jersey shore out.... hollywood talks about biceps abs.. never legs... wonder why most men who "workout" are weak... i miss the golden era... bring it back...
Christopher Wood I think the fans DO reject the mass gh gut monsters. It's the judges and the people in power who accept it.
I'm 48 and although I'm very fit and an active rock climber/boulderer (V9), i have the same amount of grey hair as Frank! LEGEND!!!
he seems so down to earth and genuine. you can tell he wanted to do the interview. it's always sweet to find out your idol is a cool person as well.
Thanks so much for posting this video. I've watched it so many times and have learned so much. Wish there were more training videos of him in his prime, like there are of Arnold. Zane and Reeves are the definition of aesthetic. It's a shame there will never be better.
totally right...today bodybuilders are more like bellybuilders...
WOW this whole interview is legendary.
Frank Zane the legend, he was one of my role models back in the 80's .great to see him alive and healthy.
One of my favourite body-builders of all time. Thanks for this
The king, the god of aesthetics. He is simply the best!My main motivation, he had the best physique of all times in my opinion and thanks to him I am what I am now! I think we all should visit his website and support him.
He's just the greatest. Still sharp and I agree with most of what he has to say. Great guy overall and i hope that he stays healthy and fit for a long time to come!
+Ukuwoele
Extremely sharp.
This interview is amazing . Thank you so much Artemis for doing this video
This was amazing dude!! Real legend and King of Aesthetics!! You seem to be like a vulnerable kid in front of him and that's how I felt watching.. Amazing!
More of that! Film a training with Frank Zane - would be awesome
Great interview from the master due in part because good questions were asked. I was happy to hear Frank say "work on the perimeter" because at 58 and being stocky or fat most of my life, I'm now slimming down and focusing on those perimeter muscle groups to have a more slender looking physique.
this is a great video. frank zane we love and respect you!!!
this man is unbelievable!.... he has always been one of my personal favorites in every way....THE LEGENDARY FRANK ZANE!!... God love him.
One of the best interviews I've ever seen. Enlightening as fuck!
I'm never about heavy weights anymore, just enough to grow, perfect form, high intensity training.
Awesome Vid! Must have felt unreal interviewing the Chemist himself. Glad I subscribed to your channel man, lots of awesome information!
Kinda wanted to see what questions Zane asked you as well afterwards. Golden Era Forever!
It's really amazing, that even if you call a guy a genius, or a master. He will allways tell you about his idols and who he looked up to. There is something beautiful about it. To be a true champion you have to be down to earth and humble. With great power comes great responsibility. Gotta love the golden era of bodybuilding too.
Very well done and such a pleasure to hear from a legend. So hooked on the time and era of when Frank competed. So true that now its just a production line, keep true to yourself and the rest will follow.
haha, coffee.....he's right, that's been my pre-workout for years
+J Gamez
Coffee... It's easy to say "coffe" just black and no sugar ? Instant or brewed ? I suppose a drop of milk should be allowed or not ?
+lorenzo magazzeni yes, from what I've heard from other bodybuilders like Shawn Ray, just straight up black coffee. I think Arnold did the same thing.
+J Gamez Mine too, if i'm in the mood bc I really just carb up.
+J Gamez Same. Not even coffee, just caffeine pills. 2 pills (400mg) before working out, das it mane.
That depends though buddy. Depends on how much coffee you're drinking. Plus pre-workouts don't only have caffeine in them, take a look at the ingredients. I personally don't drink coffee nor pre-workouts. But i have taken pre-workout before and let me tell you a cup of coffee has never ever in my life made me feel that way. In my opinion pre-workouts are worse. And if you drink coffee do it in moderation too.
Best interview with Frank Zane! :) Good job Artemus! There was all question I would like to ask Frank :)
This is like the greatest interview I've ever watch
Just came across this. Wow! Thank you, Frank, for sharing with us. You are my inspiration!
I always love hearing from Frank, definitely my favorite physique.
Dat point at the end where he wants to comment on your physique....Absolutely jelly and mirin
great man!great bodybuilder! it´s nice to see that he is still an inspiration to a lot of young bodybuilders.
Awesome Interview! I liked it a lot. Frank Zane is a legend no doubt. He brings it to a humble level.
Hey, did you hear that folks? Frank said he ran a mile and a half every night prior to competition..And it didn't "destroy his gains", as all the modern day bullshit mags will tell you! :)
+spongeboynumber1 Ofcourse no gainz where lost. He was juiced to the tits lol.
As a natural bodybuilder tho it's a different story, But if done right the muscle loss will be minimal.
+divinethug1 where did you get this info from ? or are you just big another hater who's envious as per usual ..
LDcorx Where did i get what info from? Gotta be more specific brah.
Do i look like i need to be jealous ? And jealous of what ? Did i claim somewhere to be losing gainz ?
If you're talking about gear, you're not even worth replying to since it's fucking obvious he was on chemicals. It takes one to see one.
Obvious to ppl like you with shit genetics yes! 😂
Keep on hitting the gym mate 👍
JCGrantatAC `You are right!
But to be fair,he was called that because he was a chemical teacher.
not because he was juicing. He sure knew his chemicals that's for sure lol
Well done on the questions!Especially on the nutrition department 👍👍
Amazing to hear Frank's views. Balanced, knowledgeable and intelligent! Truly an exceptional person.
These are some of the best questions I’ve ever heard in an interview! Very good man
he is a legend but this video is proof we all get old, youth fades so push yourself in your prime years and if you get lucky you can become a legend like frank :)
But nothing about him looks 73 imo. looks more late 50s to mid 60s.
NCcope .. dont you think your parents .. grandparents ... great grandparents ..and all of previous humanity are proof you get old....lol
..odd comment fom you
Great interview Artemus thank you!
+Muscle Head Agreed!!!!!
+IntotheFire LOL Artemus your great guy I always just joke around with u
Genius. What a guy, one of the old school greats. loved following his career!!!!!
its good to see there are young guys honoring this legends !
notice how he says "what people call symmetry in bodybuilding" and not "symmetry." shows Zane is a real math guy. it probably bothered him how the word is misused in bodybuilding.
great guy.
i may have been a little over exuberant in saying misused, but symmetry does not literally mean "correct or pleasing proportion of the parts of a thing." that is one of the definitions. in fact, it is probably the second or third definition. to a science person like frank and myself, we go by the first definition you will see in every dictionary which exact similarity of measure. as, after all, the etymology of symmetry refers to measurement.
and, again, that's why he said "what people in bodybuilding call symmetry."
I agree he is an intelligent guy. I'm 5'3" 220. I will never look like him... but my symmetry is not my goal. Just strength. Arnold and Zane are great people.
*Great interview ✅🙂*
Excellent interview. Thanks Artemus
This is the coolest thing in the world. Thank you both, so much.💪🏻
Zane is full of such useful information!
The bodybuilding should loo like Frank Zane!
awesome video. you can clearly see that zane is an intelligent man. a rarity in bodybuilding and youth of today
I’m 77 and look physically great. Working on developing my waistline. My point is, I look better then he does today and I didn’t start bodybuilding until 2 years ago. Steve Reeves was my hero in the 50’s and 60’s then came my next hero, Frank Zane.
When I asked an artist friend of mine to draw concept art for a "superhuman" character, I kept giving him Frank Zane as a reference lol.
He's doing great for over 70 - looks way younger.
No, he looks exactly like a seventy year old man
@@craigcrawford6749 naw fr 😂😂
absolutely brilliant. thank you
What a wonderful man. Thank you for the inspiration.
Excellent advice
This was fucking amazing
Great interview. I was really impressed at the end how he paid tribute to Frank. Class.
Great interview! Frank has always been a class act.
Frank Fucking Zane. Even the name carries the heir of authority, power, and godliness. My salute will never wane for this legend. My essence of the gains bless his form.
Big moves with your channel awesome job keep making great content #goldenaesthetics
Really nice interview thanks man. . Your a great role model Artemis for natural bodybuilding. Frank Zane the legend showing the real meaning of Aesthetics and artistic body
Thanks, bro, for your videos with legends!
His voice is so similar to Clint Eastwoods
PF Real Estate Group make my day. His voice does
Interesting that you say that. Actually Frank and Clint even resembled each other in their prime particularly in street clothes.
Agree, the way he pauses and raises octave in response to a question. Sounds just like Clint to me. Could be a regional pattern, California thing.
Just like Zane says it depends on who gives the advice, i hear so much crap in the gym.
Z Lahaye This is why I never give advice. I've only been lifting a little over a year and know I don't know shit. I have learned somewhat about what works for me, but I wouldn't even want to try and tell someone else what to do, since they aren't me.
There is a man at my gym that I call "the coach". He goes up to everyone and tries to critique them and tell them how to make the movement harder etc. Like Frank says, there are a lot of ways to body build. There is not one right, perfect way.
Z Lahaye I notice allot of younger guys love to toot their horn and do all these odd ball looking movements and roam around the gym with a tall milk shake looking bottle. I also notice most of them train in packs like a bunch of hounds. The person I would get with is a quite older guy who has some decent size and a quality physique and its obvious he knows what he is doing and has paid his dues. I would stay away from the kiddy pool.
bbrock RailFan Bro i train with people twice as my age dudes above 100kilo's
words of wisdom ,apply your knowledge. Alot of people training today should have a listen to this man.
These interviews are making me extremely happy.
