Callistemons are native to Australia where they are food for just about all species of small birds, possums and bees. They are easy to grow from a cutting, enjoy full sun or part and will tolerate all soil types even bad clay soil. Do the birds a favour and plant a few.
In addition to Bees, Rainbow Lorikeet totally love Bottle Brush. Is growing from softer cuttings more prone to disease? I'm wondering if the smaller stems can be propagated rather than removed.
@@Aphrokeishiyak they make liquid and powder versions. Some people only use it for very hard to root plants and some people use it on everything even easy to root plants. Not always necessary but it's up to each person and what they are comfortable with 👍
@@Aphrokeishiyak in addition to what Jimmy Nava said, most choose the powder over the liquid versions for a decreased chance of developing rot or bacteria growth. This is usually more of an issue with semi-hard cuttings, like that of roses.
That's what I was going to say; bottlebrush tree is a separate variety from the Little John, which is a dwarf callistemon. There is also Callistemon standard shrub, and Little Johns are the dwarf variety of that.
Love these plants. Greetings and thanks from central Texas.

That's great to know because today only I got its cuttings
This tree have the same medicinal properties as eucaliptus , you can make some tea and make a beberage of flowers only putting the flowers in water.
It is one of the favorite trees of birds.
Excellent explanation, thank you!!!

Can't you just plant it without the hormone cream or whatever that is??
He can but that's how he did it. Using the hormone increases the chances of successful rooting. There's nothing wrong with using it.
@@jimmyna5644 oh ok...bc I'm not sure I've ever seen that before thanks for the reply
