she's bi :')) (or at the very least is depicted as a bi character) she likes both guys and girls, i know you didnt mean anything by it but bi people always get labeled as gay or straight if they have a corresponding love interest that makes them look gay or straight from outsider perspective and it feels very isolating and biphobic for us because it feels like people are erasing an identity that doesn't really fit or is just missing a piece, no hate tho just saying! cuz there are people out there who label her as gay just because she ends up with Sofia and it just feels very bi-erasure ish 😭😭😭
anyways, amazing video! you really captured the enchanting personality of Cathy, she was always my fave character since the first time she was introduced, and she reminds me so much of my best friend who has sadly passed as well and having the ending of her dead had me so heartbroken the first time and godd she will forever have a special place in my heart as a comfort character 💗💗
For the longest time I hated change, as someone who never had a stable childhood as a kid, change meant pain and discomfort and it would only hurt me so I could understand Cathy's dislike for change, I also related to her feeling scared of being left behind because I kept seeing all my previous friends from before achieving so much in life and having all these kinds of achievements and from the outside looking in, thriving lives and futures while I felt static and it felt like everyone was running ahead of me and I just stayed behind, left to rot. It wasn't until I actually went to a reunion with them when I realized that even though everything has changed everything had stayed the same either, sure they've all grown up and they all have different lives now but at the core they're still the same people :> They are still the same friends I loved as a kid, just a more mature version of them and an improved one. That's when I realized that change wasn't all that bad. Sure, it's uncomfortable at first but if you manage to get past that phase, you'll realize that it's actually kinda nice and enjoyable, and having friends around you that inspire you to keep moving forward is the most important thing to have and it made me appreciate my friends even more. Until then with Cathy as a character who represents the butterfly of change was the best representation for this and for me, she'll always be the best character in my eyes.

When I blindly played Until Then and encountered the goat Cathy for the first time, I will admit I didn't really like her that much at first. Idk she just felt too quirky and comic relief in this rather serious and modest setting. Her quirkiness and constant light-hearted energy felt rather cartoony and unrealistic to me at first. She reminded me of Mabel from Gravity Falls except Mabel fitted in perfectly in Gravity Falls and not in a setting like Until Then. So at first I wasn't that much of a fan of Cathy and her antics. But everything changed when I got to Act 1 chapter 5... OH. MY. FUCKING. GOD... I regretted everything I thought and said abt Cathy thanks to this sequence of events alone. The fact that this sequence of events alone completely changed the whole way I viewed a character from eye-rolling every time she was on screen, to rooting for her the most out of any other character throughout the second half of the game, to the point where I wanted even more of her after I finished it, is truly something else. If a writer is able to get the audience to completely change their whole viewpoint on a single character alone from events in their own story, they already passed Shakespeare in terms of writing.

I recently lost my best friend.
There are aspects of both Mark and Cathy that can be applied to us both, so neither one directly applies. But there are certainly similarities.
I'm the one who has fear of being left behind, having been the last to move on from four disbanded friend groups.
Everyone else moving on with their lives and leaving me behind, in the same place I was when it started. I had been lying to my friend about something, for four years. I told her the truth and she forgave me, which meant a lot to me.
And then one day (just like Cathy) she was gone. Though not to death. She told me that she does not value our friendship and never wants to speak to me again...
It's been a whole month since we last spoke.
This video actually came out pretty close to when it happened. But I'm only just seeing it now.
Thank you for making this video.

I feel this comment so much... There has been so many people like that in my life too, people who made my life mean something, and then, one day, they disappear. Some disappear like a sock in the laundry, one day I just ask "Whatever happened to them?", others have said outright that they no longer want to be friends.
It's always hurtful, but sometimes a friendship does not need to last forever, just "long enough". Long enough to keep us going, just a little longer...

    • @lavenders_blues
      @lavenders_blues 6 дней назад

This comment hits home, recently had to cut ties with someone i thought would be a life long best friend, long story short this person had to drop out of the university we were studying in because of an issue, there was a lot of blaming involved and people got emotionally hurt. To her, me and the friend group betrayed her, but to us, she did things that hurt us as well, in the end we never got to properly talk about the issue face to face and out of no where she just disappeared, but when i finally saw her after a week she disappeared, i tried to make ammends and told her that i was willing to start over with the friendship, she agreed only to go back on her word by slowly distancing herself from me online when i desperately tried to keep contact with her, in some sense i relate to nicole a lot for her desperation trying to find jake. The pain of loosing a friend hurts but i have no choice but to move on because by the looks of things, the "bestie" is willing to move on from me and my friend group and leave everything behind

I saw this on my recommendation and I thought I would only see it for a few minutes before moving on. Seeing this game and Cathy actually broke me, the way how she is written being an optimistic and fun loving person. All the way to finding out she has shitty parents tore me to pieces.
Cathy made me remember a piece of myself, that I’ve always tried to push down or just removed due to several events that happened in my life. I was also able to relate to somethings about her that connected to me. I’ve always had a fear of being abandoned or at least forgotten, due to me always losing friends as a kid in elementary school. But in middle school I met this girl who was just like cathy, she was fun to be around and we always talked like nonstop. I’ve always wanted to tell her something that I kept secret, and before I could tell her, she was gone. She transferred schools and she didn’t contact us at all, she even changed her phone number. For Cathy, she died and for my friend she just disappeared like she never existed that made me think she died. I was abandoned and that made me reach a breaking point in life, my friend group breaking up and me trying to find some sort of nullification to the pain. This went on for years, and I couldn’t find a way out.
But coming across this video and seeing Cathy’s story reminded me of my friend. I may have not been able to see grow in life and she may not see me. She would still want me to keep going than to keep holding to her memory. Just like how Cathy learned to finally let go and realized what she wanted. I have to let go, accept change and keep moving forward. So thank you Kustopia for randomly appearing on my recommendation and making me remember.

I didn't think I would comment on this, but… yeah. I'm doing it.
First and foremost, congrats for the video. It was amazing.
Right Now as I'm writing I'm crying, unimaginable amount of tears because this made me realize something. How out of touch I am and I feel.
In a nutshell, things from my side haven't been going well for more than half a decade. This made me feel most of the part numb (when I wasn't feeling good anyway) and distant. I slowly secluded myself as a defense mechanism and this made to pay the price of. Most of my friendships ceased to exist because I did not cultivate and now, more than ever, I am distant from everyone even from my closest ones.
I changed to worse, sadly, and I know better than anyone that I will struggle to reconstruct the bridges I already burned, if possible. My own thinking and behavior needs to change, and I know I will struggle.
I'm here just thanking you for this masterpiece, made me reflect my life. I can't guarantee this will end like a fairy tale but hey… A change needs to start from somewhere. I genuinely thank you. Kustopia.

Love the video mate keep up the good work and I really feel your emotion man. I’m 17 years old, and I live in Thailand, but something about the atmosphere in Until Then the game reflection of the Philippines resonates with me deeply. It’s so relatable here in Thailand that every scene brings a rush of nostalgia. Watching it, I couldn't help but feel like I was experiencing a piece of my own childhood that I never truly had. The game brought me to the realization of how much I’ve missed, but it also sparked a longing to experience those moments the connection, the simplicity in the near future.
Throughout my life, I’ve been fortunate. I’ve done well in so many aspects: I have friends who care about me, a supportive family, and countless achievements that I’m proud of. I’m grateful for my best friends, a tight-knit group that I truly love and value. But despite everything I have things that many would consider a “good life” there’s a part of me that feels empty. Even with all these wonderful people around me, there are times when I can’t shake the feeling that none of my friends really care for me in the way I long for. They’re there when they need help, but when it’s my turn to need support, it doesn’t always feel the same. The distance between my best friends, who live far away from each other, makes it even harder. We don’t see each other often, and the pressure of family burdens only adds to the weight I carry.
Sometimes, I find myself wishing for a deeper, more meaningful connection someone who has my back in the way Cath does in Until Then. She represents the kind of loyalty, trust, and understanding that I crave, and I can’t help but wish I had someone like that in my life, someone who is always there, no matter the distance or circumstance.
Even though I know I have all these people who care about me in their own way, there’s still a part of me that feels like something is missing. It’s hard to explain, but I think it’s that deep, unspoken connection a bond that goes beyond casual friendships and simple support. Sometimes, I just want to feel like I’m truly understood, like I’m not carrying all my burdens alone.
I know I have so much to be thankful for, but the longing for a connection like the one in Until Then the kind where you know someone has your back, no matter what lingers with me. It’s that sense of emotional fulfillment, something beyond what I’ve experienced so far, that I truly wish for.
Maybe, in time, I’ll find that kind of connection. I just have to keep searching for it, whether through new experiences, deeper bonds with the people I already know, or by letting more of my true self be seen. It’s a journey, and though I don’t have it all figured out yet, I’m hopeful that one day I’ll find the sense of loyalty and understanding I’m looking for just like Cath and the friendships I long for.

Amazing video man!! Honestly, I relate to what you said at the start with me starting college as well and most of my friends going to different colleges. It gets lonely sometimes.
I played this game after graduation when I was going through a rough time and it kind of changed my life in a way. Cathy is definitely one of my favorite characters in the game probably only behind Mark and you did an amazing job showing what makes her great. She is of course best girl. Come at me Nicole fans 😤But besides being loveable it's also what she represents in the narrative and how she represents the themes in the game. Throughout the video you were able to grasp this and showcase this in a thoughtful and entertaining way to audience.
Anyways sorry for rambling! I hope you manage to finish the game, as the true ending is really thought provoking and well-crafted that it not only made me cry but led me to feel like this is one of the best games ever.

This is really one of my favorite game ! (there is just Minecraft before because I play it all the time ;--;), but this game give me so much feelings, I didn't know how much this game is popular, but I know this is absolutly not enough ! In fact, sorry if I have an bad english, I'm french, and there is just one "big" streamer (around 1000 spectators and on his ytb chanel dedicated to rediffusion around 20k or 40k of views per episode) that play it in my country.
But he make me discover this master piece.
Also, in didn't think that (I could be wrong) you talk about the 2 other cycle, I just hope that you didn't miss it, cause this is half of the game !
Love Cath, Love Mark, Love Nicole, and Love your video !

I got a notification from OperaGX about the free demo of this game quite some ago, maybe 2 or 6 months, i though that the game seemed interesting and had a really soothing colorful art style. I never got around to buy it (i'm broke) and play it. Today, i'm not mad or happy that the game's events and ending were spoiled to me. This was a peak video for those melancholic evenings. 10/10 🗿👍🏿

Ok this video was amazing i was able to pinpoint the home life of cath very early and also relate to a lot of a lot of her feelings around her friends in your video alone! She seems to want the best for her friends yet feels left behind when they do their best but supports them regardless. (ive got a biti wanna say on that but this'll be too long if i do) You have me on the verge of tears with this video alone despite me never playing the game. Amazing job you've explained it so well to have foreshadowing of the game present in your video without spoiling it and be able to show the depth of her character without explicitly explaining it all yourself! You're definitely underrated af to be pulling out videos as emotional as this.

I love this game so much. I lost a friend of mine early this year and hadn't been able to cope with it for a long time but Until Then really vocalized a lot of the things I was feeling around my life and my friends untimely passing, it changed how I viewed everything and kinda pulled me out of my slump helping me realizing things about myself that I never would have confronted otherwise. Its really one of those once in a life time games that I will always wish I could play for the first time again.

Wow that hurt me a lot but in a good way
Guess I’ve had this fear of “not finding the thing I want to do”. It’s like something I thought I would find at some point during my childhood, but I never really found it. I got scared cause I thought I was supposed to know what I wanted to be when I grew up, but that was probably wrong.
I just turned 20 years old this December. It’s weird. I’m technically really young, but I feel really old. I’m scared of change and being left behind while everyone in your life somehow runs forward like Cathy. The analysis you gave with this video really means something to me. It’s not too late for me to try something new, and if it doesn’t go well, try another thing. Maybe I might already have it, and I just don’t know it yet.
I feel like I’m rushing to find what in life will make me happy, and that just makes life worse. I have time now, but someday I won’t. But maybe I shouldn’t worry about all that.
What matters is that I do what makes me happy. Nothing else.
Awesome video, man. It almost made me cry, and I don’t tend to cry a lot at media and especially video games lol

I have a theory. One that i am willing to share. So... where do i begin? Have you ever wondered where inspiration comes from and how it can be catalysed into something beautiful?
My idea is, that inspiration and passion is directly connected to your true self. The inner voice of yours as i call it. The more true one stays with himself and the less they lie to themselfes, the less derange and compromise this initial spark of inspiration. Why is music ranging from bad to peak? Because it mirrors the honesty and ability to listen to the artists inner voice. If something is outstandingly beautiful, the artist is very true with himself and was able to catalyse most of this inspiration uncompromised intp this hollow of an idea. On the other hand if a track is outstandingly bad, the artist wasnt able to catalyse the initial idea to the shape, his mind displayed them the idea. Motivation is directly bound to it. You cannot force motivation. It is independent and only truly clean, if it is a honest one. Those 2 factors are the recepie for truly outstanding inspirational art. The reflection of the soul itself.

    • @atleyf3500
      @atleyf3500 Месяц назад

For me inspiration usually comes from silence. When I let my mind wander without distraction thoughts can move freely and when they collide they form ideas. I don't think pure inspiration is enough. Ideas need to be forged over time, through a process that feels very different from the inspirational process. It needs time, doubt and outside influence. But the core should always be genuine, something that relates deeply to who you are. I sometimes say that every character I write contains a sliver of my personality.
Still I wonder what my core is and what it means to be genuine and true to myself. It feels intuitive but it's hard to put into words. Do you have any ideas?

I know how it is. I have two of the greatest friends, family to me. I try to be there for them as much as I can, and I know they are in bad places. I joined the army to try and provide for them, and while I still have a long ways to go to be able to provide for them, I am willing to take that path. I never want to lose them, they mean the world to me. I'd give anything for them to be happy.
