- My sister and I recently went on a month-long Asia trip where we visited Singapore, South Korea and Japan. I was originally planning on making a more general travel vlog but I ended up with a lot of unusable footage so I decided to make it more food focused. You'll see us eating a ton of Hawker Center food and exploring the beautiful Gardens by the Bay! This is my first dedicated travel/food vlog so please let me know what you think of the video format and the deliberate absence of music!
Japan vlog will be coming... at some point, probably.
Food Prices (in SGD, USD is 0.75 * the SGD value)
- High Tea Set from Portman's Bar - $58 per person

- BBQ Stingray - Small - $14

I've been gone for a while (partly due to my month-long Asia trip) but here's a glimpse of my adventure in Singapore. I hope you enjoy it and any feedback is appreciated! Also I realize the mic quality wasn't the best, sorry about that 😬. See the description for prices of the food I ate.
Another note: I'm not a fan of Chili Crab. Flavor is good but expensive compared to other things and too messy to eat.
Travel pics can be found on my instagram 😁

good morning~ you shared well !Calvin! 💯
Woo first comment. Thank you!
Amoy is the best!!!
Yes!
Great Video Calvin!
Do you edit them yourself?
Thanks, Prem! Yeah I do
@@calvinxli That's Great. I'm a video editor and will help you edit them for you. So you can save your time as well.I can share my portfolio too.Let me know we can connect (:
i love how honest you were about the food that you found disappointing, because those places were definitely kinda overhyped. since you mentioned you don't think you ate enough - do come back to eat more~ hahaha hope that your next trip back to singapore will be a better one 😊
Thank you! I promise to report nothing but the truth :)
I'll definitely go back to Singapore at some point!
You must try Hong Lim. Many Singapore best there! Char Kway Teow, Curry Chicken Noodle, Crayfish Hor Fun, etc.
Thanks for the recommendation! Saving this on Google Maps right now.
@@calvinxli If ever you are IN Singapore again, I can send your our best tasting tiramisu and burnt cheesecake for free 😉
@@ignatiuschua5268 😮
You missed to inform on Nasi Lemak. I really wanna know how you eat the sambal despite the crispy meaty chicken.
Hahaha anyway, yup what you ate is what we eat for singaporeans, and malaysians as well (maybe indonesians too with their own twist). Hope you have it better next time
Isn't the sambal just the sauce? I thought the Nasi Lemak was really good!
@@calvinxli sambal is the whole thing. So im not sure if u were served with a saucey kind instead of a real sambal. But well, if u enjoy the nasi more, then thats good.
I agree with you that Tian Tian chicken rice stall is over hyped. You should try other chicken rice stalls. Next round at Maxwell, try Hong Kong Roasted pork char siew noodle / rice stall tasty. Amoy is my fav hawker centre. Noodle Story main outlet at Amoy.
Thanks for the tips! 😋
👏
Food is hyped, but for the price it’s good and you can’t complain about that
True, the value to quality ratio is unbeatable. BUT those two noodle bowls I had in the beginning were pretty mid.
@@calvinxli yeah the noodles are mid lol egg noodles everywhere
Yeah idk what's up with egg noodles in Singapore. They all had a pretty strong soap flavor to them.
Did you eat the chicken rice with sauce? Like chili, soy sauce or ginger? Maybe that's why it's mild?
If you didn't, you're missing out.
And Tian Tian and Hawker Chan are touristy traps.
I dipped it in the orange sauce that came with it. I don't remember if it came with other stuff now since it was two months ago. But agreed out of all the stuff I ate those two are of the lower tier.
Can you share when will your last year vacation start? 😊😊😊
Do you mean the vacation I took this year?
My vacation this year started on 10/10 and ended on 11/6
@@calvinxli I mean your christmas and new year vacation in this year. 😊😊😊
Hm I'm probably not going to really take a vacation since I took a whole month off recently
Definitely didn't eat enough 😂
😅
Hi Calvin, curious to know if you’re a native speaker in English? I like your videos, safe travels
English is my second language but I moved to the US very young. Thank you for your support! 😃
uhh belated welcome to SG i guess? i find it quite funny that as a local i have actually not tried most of the food you did, cos i'm too lazy to venture out (yea you can tell i'm really lazy considering SG is so small). but yea i would say in general hawker food isn't really meant to blow minds, but just be satiating and hearty - in fact i appreciate the variety more than the taste.
Thank you! I'm the same way with Seattle lol there's a lot of local stuff I haven't done. The stalls definitely vary a lot in both quality and selection but there's always something good!
Sir do you earn 250k dollars a year as a software engineer? Plz reply. Thanks a lot.
Hahahahahahahahahahha
